Abstract

This study aimed to develop textbook for Introduction to Linguistics subject for 4th semester English Department students in the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education University of Muhammadiyah Gresik. Students who take this subject often find it challenging to understand the materials as they are not equipped with the textbook; therefore this study was conducted. This study was a Research and Development (R&D) study on the textbook of Introduction to Linguistics, using the Four-D (4D) model, which includes (1) Define, (2) Design, (3) Develop and (4) Disseminate. Data was collected through observation, questionnaire as well as unstructured interview. The results showed that textbook draft of Introduction to Linguistics has suited the percentage of media validation from material and teaching media experts by 93.3% and 95.4%, respectively. From the validation result, it is concluded that this textbook can be perfected and used.

Abstract

During the COVID-19 outbreak declared by WHO in the end of 2019, classroom activity has been changed into online learning. University has become the institution that is capable of performing online learning for teaching-learning process. In University of Muhammadiyah Gresik, online learning has been performed by its official online learning platform called SPADA UMG. However, students sometimes experience technical issues in using the platform. Therefore, the university allows lecturers to use other kinds of online platforms during the situation of COVID-19 outbreak to make the teaching-learning process more effective. One of the platforms used in online process is Discord. This research focused on analyzing online learning activity by using “Discord” application to facilitate students in online learning process. The writer applied qualitative research design and used questionnaire and interview techniques. The result showed the advantages of using Discord in online learning process provided students with meaningful learning experience. Students were satisfied with the use of Discord in online learning process. It was described into 6 indicators; (1) contents or features, (2) interface, (3) feedback & interaction, (4) students’ performance, (5) communication process, and (6) interactivity. In the other hand, few students also reported disadvantages in using Discord concerning the unstable internet connection and low-end device capability

Abstract

Pelatihan pengajaran Bahasa Inggris di Sekolah Dasar dengan menerapkan “Vocabulary Games” atau permainan kosa kata. Banyak guru kelas di Sekolah Dasar menghadapi kesulitan dalam memotivasi siswa untuk belajar Bahasa Inggris, terutama karena Bahasa Inggris telah dihapus sebagai mata pelajaran wajib dalam Kurikulum 2013. Selain itu, guru kelas hanya memiliki pengalaman terbatas dalam mengikuti beberapa kegiatan pelatihan tentang pengajaran Bahasa Inggris karena fokus mereka adalah mengajar semua mata pelajaran. Program pelatihan ini dilakukan di SDN Madureso, Dawar Blandong, Mojokerto. Hasil implementasi “Vocabulary Games” menunjukkan respon positif dari para guru. Meskipun tidak memiliki kesempatan untuk mengimplementasikan program dalam proses belajar mengajar di kelas karena wabah COVID-19, modul berhasil dibuat dan guru menunjukkan respon positif terhadap konten dan “Vocabulary Games” yang terintegrasi dengan materi pembelajaran. Para guru percaya bahwa mengajar Bahasa Inggris menggunakan “Vocabulary Games” dapat menjadi cara yang efektif untuk menarik perhatian dan motivasi siswa dalam belajar Bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

Kelurahan Indro merupakan wilayah yang terletak di Kecamatan Kebomas, Kabupaten Gresik, Provinsi Jawa Timur.Kelurahan Indro merupakan kelurahan yang makmur dengan mayoritas mata pencaharian penduduknya meliputi usaha kecil dan pekerja pabrik. Pelaksanaan program KKN ini memang dilaksanakan sebagai upaya pemberdayaan mitra dalam bidang aneka produk olahan tempe melalui kegiatan Pelatihan kewirausahaan yang menitikberatkan kepada pengembangan usaha. Sosialisasi pembuatan tempe pada masyarakat kelurahan indro bertujuan untuk memberikan informasi kepada masyarakat tentang pembuatan tempe pada skala industri rumah tangga dan mendorong masyarakat agar dapat menerapkan pembuatan tempe sebagai salah satu peluang usaha bagi masyarakat. mengingat mayoritas masyarakat kelurahan indro bekerja sebagai pekerja disektor industri. Prospek usaha pembuatan tempe sangat baik karena permintaan tempe semakin meningkat . Hasil yang dicapai dari kegiatan ini adalah masyarakat indro khusunya ibu-ibu PKK mengetahui cara pembuatan tempe sesuai dengan informasi yang sudah disampaikan. Hal tersebut dapat dibuktikan dengan semangat dan antusias masyarakat dalam mengikuti sosialisasi pembuatan tempe di kelurahan indro.

Abstract

Anak usia dini merupakan kelompok usia yang berada dalam proses perkembangan unik kerena proses perkembangannya. Dimana perkembangan otak anak sangat pesat atau bisa disebut sebagai masa Golden Age Anak usia dini juga merupakan masa terpenting pada untuk mengasah indra dan melatih otot-otot mereka. Berdasarkan hasil observasi dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan belajar di KB Puspa Giri Indro masih menggunakan sistem belajar dengan menggunakan LKS yang menjadi acuan utama guru dalam mengajar sehingga membuat anak menjadi cepat bosan dan jenuh. Sensory Play adalah permainan menyenangkan digunakan dalam pembelajaran yang dapat melatih anak dengan menggunakan satu indra atau lebih (penglihatan, pendengaran, penciuman, pengecapan dan peraba). Permainan ini berguna untuk mendorong anak untuk belajar observasi, menstimulasi indra, dan membangun hubungan syaraf di otak. Saat stimulus masuk ke dalam otak anak, sistem syaraf kemudian akan memprosesnya dengan menghasilkan sebuah sensasi yang mendorong indra anak bergerak. Pembelajaran di luar kelas merupakan suatu kegiatan di luar kelas yang menjadikan pembelajaran di luar kelas menarik dan menyenangkan, serta lebih menyatu dengan alam, yang berarti anak akan memperoleh kesempatan untuk mengobservasi, memperoleh informasi atau mengkaji segala sesuatu secara langsung. Selain itu, belajar secara nyata diluar kelas, dapat lebih menstimulasi fisik dan emosi. Meningkatnya rasa percaya diri, dan juga juga dapat membawa mereka pada perasaan mencintai tempat yang berada dalam lingkungan anak.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efek perlakuan virtual collaborative learning (VCL) dalam meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi siswa dalam Bahasa Inggris. VCL adalah metode belajar-mengajar sederhana yang mengharuskan siswa untuk bekerja sama dan berdiskusi dalam kelompok atau pasangan secara virtual sehingga mudah dipahami oleh siswa sekolah dasar di Thailand. Dalam penelitian quasi-experimental ini, desain time-series yang digunakan adalah masing-masing tiga kali pre-test dan post-test kepada dua belas siswa dari dua sekolah berbeda di Thailand. Data penelitian yang terkumpul dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan komunikasi Bahasa Inggris siswa meningkat sekitar 48%. VCL juga meningkatkan kepercayaan diri siswa Thailand dalam berkomunikasi menggunakan bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini juga menemukan potensi penggunaan VCL karena pelajar diusia muda lebih tertarik untuk belajar secara kolaboratif dengan lingkungan dan teman baru.Abstract: This study was carried out to analyze the effect of virtual collaborative learning (VCL) for enhancing and encouraging students to improve their English communication ability. VCL is a simple teaching-learning method that requires students to work and discuss in groups or pairs virtually which are easy to understand by primary Thai students. In this quasi-experimental research, a time-series design that used three times in each pre-test and post-test were applied to collect data from twelve students from two different schools in Thailand. The data collected were analyzed descriptively. The findings of the study showed that all respondents had improvements in their English communication ability with around 48% of improvements. The VCL was also improved Thai students’ confidence in communicating using English. This study had also found the potential use of VCL as young learners had more interest in learning collaboratively with new environments and friends.

Abstract

In this modern era, teachers are required to be able to master various things to support the teaching-learning process, one of which is the ability to use foreign languages such as English. However, not all teachers are trained in using English during the teaching-learning process. This phenomenon happened at the SMP Islam Manbaul Ulum, Gresik, where there were many teachers who had not mastered the use of English in classroom activities. Therefore, it was necessary to have training to improve English skills for teachers in the classroom contextually. This training was intended so that teachers are familiar and trained in integrating English in the teaching process. This training consisted of 4 stages, namely 1) understanding the material, 2) practice and training, 3) implementation, and 4) evaluation. In stage 1, the teachers received an explanation of the expressions that are commonly used during the teaching process in the classroom. At stage 2, the teachers had the opportunity to practice and practice directly. In stage 3, the teachers implemented to the students what they have learned before. Finally, the evaluation was carried out jointly between the teachers, the principal and the service team. From the results of the evaluation, it was concluded thatthe teacher found it helpful in using English in a contextual manner.

Abstract

The increasingly advanced technology gives rise to many new media that allow the development of marketing communications such as interactive television, the Internet, E-commerce, interactive telephone, and faxing. This led to changes in market segmentation, as well as the way to communicate with them. Then the cultural driving factor makes marketing communication more segmented but its reach is very broad. Certain cultures will receive communication that is appropriate to their culture. Each tool in the promotion mix has different characteristics and it is undeniable that there are still many companies that rely on one or two promotional tools to achieve their communication goals. This is in line with the marketing communication paradigm in the past which often used advertising as the "main weapon" to carry out a promotional activity, on the grounds that advertising media has a broad target audience, so that in a relatively short time the message to be conveyed by a company will be more effective. quickly reach the target audience.
