Abstract

The research was conducted at the Tobelo coastal fishing port, North Halmahera Regency, for one month, namely in November 2020. The research method used was a case study. The condition of the existence of basic facilities at PPP Tobelo, namely the length of the pier having a capacity of 80.00 m, an area of the port pool of 100 m2, the depth of the pier waters -5.00. The existing condition of functional facilities is an ice factory consisting of 2 units (each with a capacity of 5 tonnes a day), ABF consisting of 2 units (each with a capacity of 5 tonnes / 24 hours) and cold storage consisting of 2 units (each with a capacity of 50 tonnes). The utilization rate of the length of the pier and port pond exceeds the optimal limit of the installed capacity, then the utilization rate of the depth of the pier waters, ice factory, air blast freezer, and cold storage is not optimal.

Abstract

The pole and line fishery business at the Dufa-Dufa fish landing base (PPI) in Ternate City generally uses FADs. Based on information from fishermen, the type of fishing gear has developed relatively quickly to become semi-industrial, as indicated by the increase in fishing capacity (vessel size and engine power included) and the expansion of fishing areas, as well as the use of FADs. This is because the influence of production inputs is needed so that the fishing effort runs optimally. The effective and efficient use of production inputs can increase the catch and income of fishermen. Therefore, the research was designed with the aim of evaluating the performance of the pole and line fishery business which includes technical, biological, and economic aspects. The research was carried out at PPI Dufa-Dufa, from June to July 2021. The study used a descriptive survey method. The results showed that the fishing gear used to catch skipjack tuna, yellowfin tuna and tuna in the Ternate City waters was the pole and line. The trend of catch production, fleet productivity, and FAD productivity for 5 years (2016-2020) is increasing. This fishing business is profitable and deserves to be continued. Financially (profits) and investment (Net B/C, IRR, BEP, and PP) the pole and lien fishery business based at PPI Dufa-Dufa is profitable and feasible to operate throughout the year with a profit value ranging from IDR. 436,576,400,000-498,528,000.00, the value of B/C ratiao 1.01-1.39, IRR 32%-38%, BEP IDR. 2,805,673,599.97-3,247,175,999.96, and PP 2.43-3.03 years.

Abstract

Amasing village, located in South Halmahera Regency, North Maluku Province, is predominantly inhabited by a fishing community. This village boasts abundant natural resources, particularly a bountiful population of anchovies in its surrounding waters. However, the residents of Desa Amasing face several challenges in harnessing these natural resources to improve their economy. Therefore, the objective of this community service initiative is to add value to the fishermen's catch, particularly anchovies, by processing them into high-value crispy anchovy products. This initiative also aims to develop Desa Amasing into a model village based on the creative economy, especially in anchovy processing. This approach has the potential to significantly increase the income of the local community. Furthermore, we are making efforts to promote and market these crispy anchovy products to the general public. The implementation method involves aligning the program team's perceptions with community needs, collaborating with housewives, providing training in crispy anchovy production and business management, and offering marketing support. As a result of these activities, the housewives in Desa Amasing have successfully processed anchovies and have also improved the packaging of crispy anchovy products, making them more appealing to potential consumers. This initiative represents a significant step in empowering the local community and enhancing their economic resilience.
