The aim of this research is to describe the history and meaning of Ulos Batak Toba. This type of research uses descriptive qualitative research of the literature review type. The data source used in this research is Batak script books. The data collection technique used in this research is the reading and note-taking technique. In analyzing the data, the author uses text analysis techniques. In traditional wedding ceremonies, this ulos is given by the bride's parents to the groom's mother as ulos pargomgom, meaning that her in-laws can always be with their daughter-in-law (the child of the ulos giver). Ulos Ragi Hotang Ulos Ragi Hotang is also of high rank. This Ulos is used for someone who is considered cunning in the hope that God can change his character into a wise person, someone who is struck by misfortune, and someone who works diligently. In death ceremonies, ulos is used to wrap the body or bones during the second burial ceremony. Ulos Maratur Ulos maratur has a striped motif depicting birds or animals arranged in an orderly manner. Usually this ulos is used as a parompa ulos with the hope that after the first child is born, other children will follow as many as the birds or animals depicted on the ulos.
