Abstract

Hypertension treatment is a long-term treatment that requires hypertensive patients to undergo continuous treatment. The success of patient therapy depends on the patient's compliance with hypertension therapy. Non-compliance of patients in undergoing treatment can have an impact on the high cost of treatment. This study aims to determine the description of antihypertensive treatment, an overview of compliance with hypertension patients, the average cost of treatment, and the relationship between adherence, characteristics and costs. This study uses a retrospective cohort design that aims to determine the cost of treating hypertensive outpatients in Karanganyar District Hospital. The subjects of the study were the outpatient hypertension patients of Askes participants in Karanganyar District General Hospital in 2011-2013. Data were analyzed descriptively covering patient characteristics, compliance description and average treatment costs. Chi-square test is used to determine the factors that influence adherence and correlation test is used to analyze the relationship between patient characteristics and compliance. The results showed that the treatment pattern that was widely used was a combination of captopril-HCT in 83 patients (28.33%). Compliance of outpatients of health insurance participants in Karanganyar District Hospital is more in the category of compliance with 164 patients. The average monthly medical costs for hypertension patients in the outpatient health care unit are greater for non-adherent patients, which is Rp. 259,826 compared with obedient patients Rp.256,696. The results of statistical analysis show that there is no significant relationship between patient characteristics, compliance with the average cost per month required by patients.
