Abstract

One potential approach to addressing the challenges posed by the advent of Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0 is to offer robotics training. This endeavor aims to enhance students' foundational understanding of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines. The study involved collaborating with the Pondok Pesantren Granada, an Islamic Boarding School located in Batam, to provide robotics training as community service activities. The study included 29 trainees: 15 from class XI and 7 from classes X and XII. The teaching was conducted using a combination of didactic instruction, interactive discourse, and hands-on exercises. Trainees are administered a written examination to assess their proficiency level before and after the training program. The training outcomes exhibited a significant improvement in the mean STEM proficiency of trainees, with an increase of 38.15%. Furthermore, a series of activities have been effectively implemented, resulting in trainee satisfaction ratings exceeding 50% concerning course materials, trainer, and teaching equipment. A mere 17% of the individuals undergoing training expressed dissatisfaction with the allocated time, particularly the hands-on component's duration.

Abstract

Automatic medicine storage carousel vertical machine is a development of a combination of automation systems with storage systems, especially medicine storage. The medicine storage vertical carousel machine uses a design system such as a vertical carousel vehicle. There are shelves for storing medicine on each swing. This machine is controlled by PLC which drives the servo motor. The servo motor drives the machine's swing arm so that the machine can rotate. In the process of finding a medicine, The average time it takes the machine to find the fastest medicine and the bin condition is not shaking is 5.28 seconds using 7 Rpm at pulley driven speed. The indicator light will indicate which bin is being targeted and the machine door will stop when the photoelectric sensor detects a hand approaching the door.

Abstract

The problem of data security at a time when it is needed in the world of technology. The use of biometrics as data security is very necessary. This study aims to detect human biometrics using the Kinect sensor. The biometric that is detected is the face. The face image is captured by the Kinect sensor. For data feature extraction using Gray Level Co-Occurrence Matrix (GLCM. The parameters used are Contrast, Energy, Homogenity, and Correlation. The data obtained will be classified using Multi Layer Perceptron. Face classification is based on race. There are 3 races studied namely Indonesian, Chinese and African Native Races. The total data used are 100 photos of faces. The classification results show an accuracy of 86.7% using Multi Layer Perceptron

Abstract

The use of low carbon steel is categorized as one of the supporting materials in industrial and technological developments because it has high ductility and toughness. However, low carbon steel has limitations in terms of corrosion resistance. There are several ways to increase corrosion resistance in steel. One of them is by providing a layer of protection on the steel surface. The steel plating method used is the electrolysis method or electroplating method. This study aims to determine the influence of variations in current, voltage, temperature, and time on the thickness of the coating formed on steel. The steel plating process is carried out by electroplating process where the coating material or anode is Nickel (Ni) with dimensions (60 mm x 30 mm x 0,1 mm). In comparison, the coated object or cathode is SK5 steel with dimensions (50 mm x 20 mm x 0,3 mm). The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of Current, Voltage, Temperature, and Time Variations on the thickness of steel using electroplating processes. Moreover, all factors will be optimised to achieve the best thickness for steel. Consequently, the corrosion resistance of SK5 can be significantly improved by increasing its thickness. The current variations were used 1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A; voltage variations were used 3V, 6V, 9V, and 12V; temperature variations were used 30°C, 40°C, and 50°C; and times variations were used 0 m, 5 m, 10 m, and 20 m. Based on the results of research that has been carried out on all samples, it is concluded that current, voltage, temperature and time affect the thickness of the sample in the electroplating process. The current, voltage, temperature and time values are linearly related to the thickness resulting from the electroplating process.

Abstract

The current development of the Smart home is not only used for automation and monitoring of a room, but also used as security or what is usually called security. One form of smart home security technology is an automatic door lock installed in one of the laboratories at the Batam State Polytechnic. Automatic door lock devices are created using Voice Recognition as command input. Users can give the word Open to unlock the door and Close to lock the door. Selenoid Door Lock is used as a tool to lock doors, and LEDs and speakers are used for information. The tool is tested by giving commands by registered and unregistered users. The test results were 100% of the tool worked for registered users with normal Voice intonation, 77% of the tool worked for unregistered users with normal Voice intonation, 48% of the tool worked for registered users with abnormal Voice intonation and 43% of the tool worked for registered users. not registered with abnormal Voice intonation. Thus, the average tool works well by 67%.

Abstract

The case of forest fires in Batam is one of the natural disasters that often occurs both caused by nature and human error. These forest fires certainly damage forest ecosystems. The condition of the vast forest makes it difficult to monitor the condition of the forest to find the location of the fire. In this study, the authors designed a forest fire early detection system using the concept of Wireless Sensor Network. The system is designed using the MQTT protocol in its data transmission communications. MQTT is a communication protocol that uses the concept of publish-subscribe. Fire information sent by telegram. It is hoped that with this research, it will be able to detect early fires that occur in the forest and be able to become an initial concept for further development. From the test results, it was found that the MQTT protocol sends data well, with subscribers using QoS 0 services having an average delay of 0.050 s, an average throughput of 31355 bps and packet loss of 0%. Subscribers who use QoS 1 services have an average delay of 0.064 s, an average throuhput of 30683 bps, and a packet loss of 0%. The system is able to send information notifications to telegram well.
