Abstract

Background: Gingivitis is the infection disease with tooth loss effect. Using fixed orthodontic appliance in dentistry can give gingivitis impact with its’ designed way. To determine the effectiveness of papaya leaf extraction and gengigel in gingivitis treatment with fixed orthodontic application in letrature review explanation Methods: Literature searching with Science Direct, NCBI (PubMed), and Google Scholar databases and getting 530 articles. Articles are screened to be 67 articles and selected by inclusion and exclusion criteria getting 37 articles. 37 Articles are ready to be analysed. Results:There is effectiveness of papaya leaf extract and gengigel in patients using fixed orthodontic appliances for giving anti inflammation effect, wound healing and enhance blood circulation. Conclusion: The conclusion is papaya and gengigel leaf extraction giving gingivitis healing effect in fixed orthodontic treatment

Abstract

Background: It is critical to treat tooth loss cases using dentures. Hot polymerized acrylic resin, is the most often used basis for dentures and is cured by applying heat. Heat cured acrylic base material has several disadvantages, it is fragile, easy to change color, porous, and easy to absorb liquids. The impact strength of acrylic-based dentures can increase by adding pineapple leaf fiber because the cellulose content in pineapple leaf fiber increases the bond's strength. The pineapple plant is a type of plant that is relatively inexpensive and easy to obtain. This study aims to analyze the effect of uni-directional and bi-directional fiber direction of pineapple leaf fiber on the impact of FRAR.Method: The method used in this study was a post-test-only control group design with a total sample of 30 pcs. Meanwhile, the measurement process of impact strength was done using the Universal Testing Machine and joules/mm was used as the unit of measurement. One Way Anova test was used as a statistical test and was followed by the Bonferroni Post Hoc test. Result: The results showed a significant effect of uni-directional fibers on the impact strength of FRAR. The uni-directional fibers group had the highest impact strength of the three groups, with an average of 0.024 J/mm2. Uni-directional fibers result in even pressure distribution, increasing the FRAR's impact strength. Conclusion: There is a difference in the effect of different arrangements of pineapple leaf uni-directionally and bi-directionally on the impact strength of FRAR

Abstract

Background: The use of fixed orthodontics is not a new thing for the community. The rapidly increasing information has changed people's understanding of the use of fixed orthodontic appliances where the initial function of fixed is for health, but along with changes in one's knowledge, the use of fixed orthodontics has turned into a style or trend that aims to make the appearance more attractive. Most of the youth are currently doing fixed orthodontic treatment only for a lifestyle, trend or style without knowing the complaints and goals of fixed orthodontic treatment. In addition, most teenagers do not know the orthodontic treatment that should be carried out by orthodontic specialist dentists. This study aims to specifythe description of adolescents aged 14-18 years in SMA Negeri 1 Belitang, South Sumatra province regarding the side effects of using orthodontic appliances.Method: This is a descriptive observational using a cross sectional study. The sampling technique used is total sampling with a total of 50 respondents.Result: The results of the study revealed that adolescents' knowledge of the side effects of using fixed orthodontic appliances was in the good category of 13 subjects (26%), sufficient category 29 subjects (58%), and less category 8 subjects (16%).Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that the knowledge possessed by adolescents aged 14-18 years at SMA Negeri 1 Belitang, South Sumatra Province regarding the side effects of using orthodontic appliances is quite good in as many as 29 subjects(58%).
