Abstract

Independent press and objective news are the rules. But on the news "Chairman of DPW Gerindra DKI: Ahok Enggak Indonesia Banget", in news published by Republika.co.id on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 edition, normative things that are violated. This is the reason to review the discourse submitted by Republika on line. The research method uses discourse analysis of Fairlcloud model. The theory used as a reference is Critical Theory. The results show that the news reviewed represents Ahok inappropriate to be governor. There are propaganda techniques applied, namely the name  calling, card staking, and testimonials.Keywords: press, news, discourse analysis

Abstract

Ospek and Character Building are two concepts offered by news writers to news readers. The Ospect has a spooky connotation. In fact, some students become victims of ospek activities, some even died. Character building has a convenient connotation. This research seeks to review the news entitled "Without Ospek, UNAS welcomes New Students Through Character Building". This news was published on August 3, 2016. The reason for the selection of this study object is based on the content of news reporting that the National University does not apply the Ospek in the admission of new students. While most other universities are still applying ospek. There is a new rule, ospek is not horror anymore. The rules of ospek have changed since the admission of new students in 2015/2016. The formulation of the problem in this study: "How to understand the discourse of news" Without Ospek, UNAS welcomes New Students Through Character Building "in unas.ac.id Edition 3 August 2016?" The theory that became the reference is Critical Theory. Subjects in the study are newsmakers "Without Ospek, UNAS welcomes New Students Through  Character Building", the division of Public Relations of National University. While the object of study is the news "Without Ospek, UNAS Welcomes New Students Through Character Building". In searching the data, the technique used is as follows: (1) content analysis to the news "Without Ospek, UNAS welcomes New Students Through Character Building", applied to obtain data in the form of news text; (2) in-depth interviews with newsmakers and news readers, applied to obtain data pertaining to discourse practice (news text); (3) literature studies on books, websites, scientific journals, research reports, documents, applied to obtain data regarding socio-cultural practices. The results show that the news reviewed is part of promotional activities in the admission of new students at the National University.

Abstract

Komunikasi adalah bagian terpenting dalam menghadapi ancaman pandemi. Kepercayaan publik perlu dibangun dan dijaga agar tidak terjadi kepanikan dalam masyarakat dan agar penanganan dapat berjalan lancar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pola komunikasi pemerintah dalam penanganan Covid-19 di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode studi literature. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui Pola Komunikasi Pemerintah dalam penangan Covid-19 di masyarakat dapat dikatakan belum berjalan efektif. Berdasarkan pola komunikasi yang dibentuk oleh pemerintah terkesan tidak serius, fokus, dan terintegrasi dalam melahirkan kebijakan penanganan atau pencegahan Covid-19. Komunikasi yang disampaikan oleh pemerintah terkesan buru-buru dan tidak adanya integritas antar pimpinan. Informasi terkait penanganan Covid-19 sering berubah-ubah serta kurangnya transparansi dari pemerintah terkait bahaya Covid-19. Sehingga partisipasi masyarakat dalam mencegah penyebaran Covid-19 ini masih dianggap minim partisipasi. Pesan-pesan yang disampaikan pemerintah baik verbal ataupun non verbal serta secara simbolik, tidak diikuti oleh konsistensi perilaku para pimpinan pemerintahan, sehingga menjadikan pesan pencegahan atau penanganan Covid-19 tidak efektif.

Abstract

The use of public opinion space through the digitalization of virtual democracy has been widely relied on by political parties in conducting political marekting and political communication, especially online-based campaigns. This study aims to find out how political parties' efforts in utilizing virtual democracies in increasing the quantity of potential voters. Descriptive qualitative research method to examine certain events as a new phenomenon in order to answer precisely about the object being observed, assessed and intervened in a complex multi-component using secondary data and literature studies. The results showed that the practices for running a digital democracy are no longer conventional, but through digital media and virtual political spaces. So that digital democracy shows the central position and role of digital parties in Indonesia. The use of virtual democracy provides a strong potential by seeing the large number of people who have begun to participate in online social media, so that virtual democracy feels great benefits as a new channel in the public opinion space to find political news, discuss, organize and to mobilize supporters of one of the political parties it likes

Abstract

The Sekar Pandan Art Studio is one of the studios that until now still maintains the authenticity of the Cirebon Mask Dance. However, the lack of understanding of the community, especially the management of the Sekar Pandan Art Studio towards social media, has made his name not too heard outside the Cirebon area. Through Community Service activities, it is hoped that it can contribute to the importance of branding and also the use of social media in terms of building branding. The purpose of this activity is to provide education to the public, especially the management of the Sekar Pandan Art Studio, how to utilize social media in terms of branding so that the name Sekar Pandan Art Studio can be heard at least outside the Cirebon area. In addition, this activity is expected to provide education about social media literacy. The results obtained from this Community Service include the managers of the Sekar Pandan Art Studio realizing that they are not maximizing social media in carrying out studio branding and a lack of understanding from managers in utilizing social media even though studio managers basically have social media accounts, including Youtube and Instagram. The conclusion of this Community Service is that the management of the Sekar Pandan Art Studio will maximize social media in carrying out branding so that the name of the Sekar Pandan Art Studio will be more heard than at present, both regionally, namely the Cirebon region and its surroundings, nationally and internationally.
