Abstract

ocational high school graduates are expected to readily enter the work field, nevertheless, the number of unemployment from vocational high school graduates is still big. Optimizing a career guidance service requires complete evaluation feedback. In detail, this research aims to: identifying a construct instrument applicable to evaluate a career guidance program at vocational high school; Developing an evaluation model; and Examining the measurement, structure and the effectivity of the model. The research’s approach and development employ Borg & Gall’s Model. The test toward the product is addressed to nine vocational high schools in Yogyakarta. The validity and reliability instruments are verified through expert judgment, alpha Cronbach analysis, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), testing the measurement model, and for the structural model, it is verified by means of partial least square (PLS) SmartPLS 3.0. The product constitutes a career guidance evaluation model at vocational high school, complete with its application, manipulation, and analysis up to recommendation construction. The result of the EFA test shows six measurement factors of counseling service: assertiveness, career readiness, self-awareness, career awareness, work characteristics, and positive attitude towards guidance and counseling service. The quality instrument product of TADIPHE consists of the target component (3 items), assessment (13 items), design (13 items), installation (22 items) process (44 items), the result (70 items), and effectiveness of the program (7 items). The result of the partial least square shows that all predictors contribute (Q2) as much as 88.91%, and 11.09 % and the rest may be determined by other variables.

Abstract

This research aims to find out (1) motivation, (2) factors affecting motivation and (3) the most dominant factor affecting the motivation of Junior High School (SMP / MTs) students to Vocational Schools. This research belongs to cross-sectional survey. The population of this research is 12.037 of Grade VIII students from122 SMP/MTs at Sleman District. The research sample is 338 students who are taken randomly and proportionally. The instrument used is questionnaire with likert-scale and rating-scale. Data analysis techniques used are descriptive analysis, regression analysis and partial correlation analysis. Research results show that: (1) motivation of SMP/MTs students to go into Vocational School is good, the average is 73.40%; (2) factors affecting the motivation are social economic status of student’s parents, mass media, student’s environment, and students’ individual characteristics with 72.5% and the rest which is 27.5% is affected by other factors; (3)the most dominant factor is students’ individual characteristics, and then followed by mass media factor, social economic status of students’ parents and students’ environment.

Abstract

The study was to test the effectiveness of the Web-Based Interactive Blended Learning Model (BLIBW) for subjects in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Padang State University. The design that the researcher employed was a quasi-experimental design with one group pretest-posttest, which was conducted on a group of students consisting of 30 people and the test was conducted for two times. The effectiveness of BLIBW Model was tested by comparing the average pretest scores and the average posttest scores both in the first trial and the second trial. The average prestest and posttest scores in the first trial were 14.13 and 33.80. The increase in the average score was significant at alpha 0.05. Then, the average pretest and posttest scores in the second trial were 18.67 and 47.03. The result was also significant at alpha 0.05. The effectiveness of BLIBW Model in the second trial was higher than in the first test. Those result were not entirely satisfactory and it might be caused several weaknesses in both tests such as: the number of sessions were limited, there was only one subject, and the number of students who were subjected too limited. However, the researcher would like to conclude that the BLIBW Model might be implemented as a replacement alternative for the face-to-face instruction.
