Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between parental involvement and social skills of students with SEN in the inclusive elementary primary. It also examines student factors, namely gender, types of disability, and level of impairment that can affect a student’s social skills. Participants were 365 parents of students with Special Educational Need (SEN) in inclusive elementary school. Parental involvement was measured using the Family Involvement Questionnaire. Students' social skills assessed using the Social Skills Improvement System. This research uses the quantitative method and correlational non-experimental design. The results showed that parents' involvement was significantly related to the social skills of students with SEN. It means that the more parents are involved in education, the higher the social skills of the children will have. In regards to demographic variables, only gender of children that can affect children’s social skills. Abstrak .Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji hubungan antara keterlibatan orang tua dan keterampilan sosial siswa berkebutuhan khusus di sekolah dasar inklusif. Juga menguji faktor siswa seperti jenis kelamin, jenis dan tingkat hambatan yang dialami siswa terhadap keterampilan sosial yang dimilikinya. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 365 orang tua dari siswa berkebutuhan khusus di sekolah dasar inklusif. Keterlibatan orang tua diukur dengan menggunakan Family Involvement Questionnaire. Keterampilan sosial siswa dinilai dengan menggunakan Social Skills Improvement System. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dan desain non-eksperimental korelasional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterlibatan orang tua berhubungan signifikan dengan keterampilan siswa berkebutuhan khusus. Semakin orang tua terlibat dalam proses pendidikan, maka semakin tinggi keterampilan sosial yang dimiliki oleh anak. Berkaitan dengan variabel demografi, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hanya jenis kelamin siswa yang dapat memengaruhi keterampilan sosial siswa berkebutuhan khusus.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh keterampilan sosial terhadap konsep diri akademik pada siswa berkebutuhan khusus (special needs). Hal tersebut didasarkan pada pentingnya komponen akademis dalam konsep diri terutama bagi siswa berkebutuhan khusus karena berkaitan langsung dengan pencapaian prestasi akademiknya. Prestasi akademik di sekolah saat ini merupakan ukuran keberhasilan siswa dalam menempuh pelajaran di sekolah. Marsh (2003) mengungkapkan bahwa konsep diri akademis dapat membuat individu menjadi  lebih  percaya  diri  dan  merasa  yakin  akan  kemampuan  mereka. Konsep diri akademik dalam penelitian ini didefinikan sebagai penilaian siswa terhadap kemampuan akademik yang dimiliki (Atmasari, 2009) serta melihat seberapa baik performanya di sekolah atau seberapa baik dirinya belajar (Huitt, 2004). Perkembangan konsep diri akademik sendiri tidak terlepas dari adanya interaksi dengan orang lain, yang ditunjukkan dalam keterampilan sosial sehari-hari. Keterampilan sosial adalah suatu hal yang penting untuk dikembangkan saat pendidikan dasar dimana pada usia sekolah dasar siswa mulai beradaptasi dengan lingkungan pembelajaran di sekolah yang memungkinkannya untuk berinteraksi lebih sering dengan teman dan guru (Rimm-Kaufman, Curby, Grimm, Brock, & Nathanson, 2009). Dimensi keterampilan sosial adalah komunikasi, kerja sama, ketegasan, tanggung jawab, empati, keterlibatan, dan pengendalian diri (Gresham & Elliott, 2008). Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis regresi dengan metode Enter dan responden penelitian ini adalah 292 siswa dengan kebutuhan khusus di sekolah dasar inklusif di Jakarta. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan sosial memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap konsep diri akademik siswa (p <0,05). Dimensi tanggung jawab memiliki pengaruh terkuat dengan nilai R. Square adalah .115 (p <.005).Kata kunci: keterampilan sosial, konsep diri akademik, pendidikan inklusif, siswa berkebutuhan khusus

Abstract

Many deaf children are born to hearing parents, therefore deaf children will naturally have different communication modes with their parents. This condition is difficult for parents to accept their children because children will use sign language while parents will speak orally. This different mode also causes delays in semantic language development. The use of appropriate communication modes (Independent Variable – IV1) and parental acceptance (IV2) was found to contribute to semantic language development (Dependent Variable - DV). So far, no research has yet been found that examines those variables on deaf children in Indonesia. Therefore, this study will look at the contribution of parental acceptance and communication modes on the semantic language development of deaf children. Participants are deaf children and their parents. In the analysis using multiple linear regression, found that both IVs did not affect DV.  Furthermore, will be discussing other factors surrounding the three variables involved that can explain the result.

Abstract

Impulsivity increases the risk of addiction and negatively affects academic performance. One-way high school students can manage impulsivity is through mindfulness skills, in which the relationship between mindfulness and impulsivity can be mediated by emotion regulation. This study aims to establish whether emotion regulation plays a mediating role in the relationship between mindfulness and impulsivity in high school students. Quantitative research was conducted through mediation analysis using Hayes' PROCESS program. The Mindfulness Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS) was used to measure mindfulness; impulsivity was measured using the Barratt Impulsiveness Scale 11 (BIS-11); and emotional dysregulation using the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS). The participants were 390 high school students in Indonesia aged 15-18. The results show that emotion regulation partially mediated the relationship between mindfulness and impulsivity (ab = -.11, SE = 0.02, 95% CI [-0.16, -0.07]). Mindfulness was found to improve emotion regulation skills and reduce impulsivity in high school students. The implications of the study are important in helping adolescents manage impulsivity, as they are at an age that is prone to risk taking. The use of mindfulness in schools could help manage emotional and behavioral problems in adolescents at high school age.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat efektivitas pelatihan dialogic reading untuk meningkatkan efikasi diri orang tua dalam membacakan buku cerita kepada anak prasekolah. Tipe penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian aplikatif dengan within-subjects experimental design. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini merupakan orang tua yang memiliki anak usia 3-5 tahun berdomisili di Jabodetabek (n=7). Alat ukur yang digunakan saat pretest dan posttest adalah kuisioner efikasi diri orang tua dalam membacakan buku cerita. Dalam pelatihan dialogic reading, partisipan diberikan pelatihan tentang perkembangan membaca anak, cara memilih buku cerita sesuai usia anak, dan teknik dialogic reading. Hasil pengukuran diuji menggunakan metode nonparametric wilcoxon signed-rank test, dengan nilai signifikansi p sebesar 0,018 (p0,05). Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan dialogic reading efektif meningkatkan efikasi diri orang tua dalam membacakan buku cerita kepada anak usia prasekolah. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah efikasi diri orang tua dalam membacakan buku cerita bisa ditingkatkan melalui pelatihan yang disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan atau kesulitan yang dimiliki orang tua

Abstract

Children with hearing impairment or deafness experience cognitive function delays but not limited visual-spatial working memory, which is commonly used to solve mathematical problems. Previous studies have discovered that visual or spatial working memory in such children is different because of the communication methods that rely on vision. This study explores the visual-spatial working memory in children with deafness by measuring the memory of 70 elementary school children with deafness and identifying their communication methods through questionnaires. The questionnaires were completed by the children’s parents. The visual-spatial working memory measurement utilized the Lion Game through Zoom meetings. Consequently, it was found that there was no significant difference in visual-spatial working memory capacity in children with hearing impairment using oral, total communication, and sign language. It can be argued that in children with deafness, their visual-spatial working memory span with oral, total, and sign language communication methods have still not reached the maximum point. The use of hearing aids, popular among such children also did not significantly enhance visual-spatial working memory capacity. This research recommends parents be more attentive not only toward the communication methods of children with deafness but also to their cognitive function development.

Abstract

Kemampuan delay of gratification merupakan hal mendasar untuk dapat menampilkan perilaku goal-directed dan memprediksi perkembangan kognitif dan sosial. Kemampuan delay of gratification diharapkan menjadi perilaku yang relatif stabil, sementara hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan delay of gratification pada anak dengan Down Syndrome (DS) rendah dan tidak konsisten. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memprediksi kemampuan delay of gratification melalui metode Naïve Bayes Classifier (NBC). Partisipan penelitian ini berjumlah 28 anak dengan DS usia kronologis 7 sampai 14 tahun, usia mental minimal 24 bulan, kecerdasan berada pada tingkat moderat, dan berdomisili di Jakarta. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah tugas delay dan kuesioner delay of gratification. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan delay of gratification anak dengan DS yang diukur melalui tugas delay dapat memprediksi kemampuan delay of gratification domain makanan, physical pleasure, dan interaksi sosial dengan tingkat akurasi sebesar 71.43%.

Abstract

Student academic achievement is the result of the interaction between environmental factors and individual factors. This study uses parental involvement as environmental factors and social skills as individual factors that can affect the academic achievement of students with special needs in inclusive elementary schools. This study aims to examine the theoretical model of students' social skills as mediator on the effect of parental involvement on the academic achievement of students with special needs in inclusive elementary schools. Participants in this study were parents of students with special needs (N=365) who studied in inclusive public and private elementary schools in five areas of DKI Jakarta. The results showed that social skills mediate the effect of parental involvement on the academic achievement of students with special needs in inclusive primary schools.

Abstract

Being a parent with a child with special needs is a challenge that can cause stressful situations in care. This situation affects the psychological condition of children and harms their social-emotional abilities. The relationship between parents and children is the main influence that shapes a child's social-emotional abilities. This study aims to further review the effect of parental acceptance on the social-emotional abilities of children with special needs. This study involved 291 participants from various regions in Indonesia. The analysis was carried out with regression analysis. The results of this study found that the influence of parental acceptance on the social-emotional abilities of children with special needs (B=0.338) was significant at Los 0.05. Menjadi orang tua dengan anak berkebutuhan khusus (ABK) merupakan suatu tantangan yang dapat menyebabkan situasi stres dalam pengasuhan. Keadaan ini berpengaruh terhadap kondisi psikologis anak dan berdampak negatif pada kemampuan sosial emosional mereka. Padahal, hubungan antara orang tua dengan anak merupakan pengaruh utama yang membentuk kemampuan sosial emosional anak. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meninjau lebih jauh mengenai pengaruh penerimaan orang tua terhadap kemampuan sosial emosional anak berkebutuhan khusus. Penelitian ini melibatkan 291partisipan dari berbagai daerah di Indonesia. Analisis dilakukan dengan analisis regresi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh penerimaan orang tua terhadap kemampuan sosial emosional anak dengan kebutuhan khusus (B = 0.338) signifikan pada LoS 0.05.
