Abstract

This research work is centered on a Comparative Study of Badri-fetish in the light of Islam, with particular reference to Kala Balge. In this regard the role played by the populace in interaction with Badri fetish was examined. To this matter, the researchers used interview as instrument for data collection. So also Textbooks, Journals, Dissertations, Seminar papers were also included. The research found out that there are many kinds of traditional possession remedies in Borno according to different geo-political zones. It is interesting to note that Badri-fetish as a remedy has a link with supernatural forces. Badri-fetish is a healing process or ritual centered on the belief in the existence of the power of Jinn which possess their victims in various ways and forms. Therefore, the research found out that the rural dwellers are patronizing the aforementioned traditional remedy for the belief that all the practices involved are aimed at cure and healing. As such some of the fetishism practitioners have also regarded it as a means of entertainment and gain of worldly benefits. It is recommended that all sorts of healing methods should be considered provided they do not contravene to the teachings of Islam and if it may not harm or endanger the life of the people. To attain this it is recommended that whoever wants to engage in any permissible healing technique one must seek a deep knowledge in the field and to know the basic Islamic rulings in regards to his method, so as not to endanger the life of his clients.

Abstract

This paper is a contribution and a piece of Da'wah towards enlightening Muslims on the menace of sorcery and sorcerers. The work has highlighted some of the major reasons why some Muslims with weak Iman seek the help of sorcerers for worldly things thereby harming their fellow being. It is therefore, the application of Islamic Da’wah that would assist in reminding Muslims in avoiding the menace of sorcery. It has been discovered from the interview that sorcerers have destroyed many family relationships and created damage to some marriages, also economic backward to sorcery goers. The paper also found out that some sorcery goers do regret their actions after coming in contact with the truth. This study was conducted using a survey method, and data were collected through in-depth interviews. The results of this study showed the need for a sustainable Da'wah to combat the issue of sorcery and sorcerers that have become a menace among Muslims which have affected their Iman. The study recommended that there was an urgent need for engagement of various stakeholders in Nigeria and beyond, to checkmate the issue of sorcerers and their activities in the society.

Abstract

Modern communication technology has advanced quickly, changing how social media channels are utilized for communication globally. This article focuses on Muslim scholars and the challenges of social media Da'wah focusing on cyberbullying of scholars on social media platforms. Most social media-based social interaction tools are user-generated, in contrast to traditional media. It enables the user to control the message's content without restriction or regulation. Some Muslims have been lured into using social media in violation of rules laid down by fundamental Islamic teachings because of their freedom to sign up for an account on any website and the freedom it involves. Accordingly, this study has identified cyberbullying behavior against Muslim scholars on social media and provided solutions according to Islamic teachings. Therefore, this paper aims to bring into the limelight some of the challenges Muslim scholars face when doing Da'wah on social media and proffer Islamic solutions. The study used a qualitative survey approach, interviewing seasoned social media users. Seven individuals were purposefully chosen for the study since they are Muslims and have knowledge of the issue under investigation. Some of the study's findings showed that Muslim scholars encounter cyberbullying difficulties when conducting Da'wah on social media. The paper concludes that in order to create a more peaceful and safer digital environment, social media users should communicate with good morals and manners, especially on online forums
