Abstract

Abstract This research was aimed to describe the character education values used in the Avengers: End Game Movie. Movie is described as the series of moving pictures combined with sound effects. Character education values .This study applied library research as it described the results of study. The data of this study were the phenomena and facts classified into the character education values. The source of data were the facts or phenomena shown in the movie scenes and the movie transcription of Avengers: Endgame. This study used two instruments called: the researcher himself and the documentation. The object of this study was a movie entitled “Avengers: Endgame”. In collecting the data of this research, the researcher used documentary technique including watching the movie, reading the movie’s screenplay and taking a note. The researcher used the theory of content analysis (Ary, 2010) to analyze the data. Based on the results of the study, the researcher found nine types of character education values covering responsible, love and affection, honesty, hardworking, tolerant, curious, patriotic, creative, and communicative.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to describe the symbol used in the Demon Slayer: Mugen Train the movie. Symbol, as the part of literature, can be defined as often characters, images, settings and the other elements which reflect bigger hidden ideas or message in order to build more interesting story. Viewed from its setting, this study was applied library research as it studied a movie. The subject of this study was a Japanese movie entitled “Demon Slayer: Mugen Train”. In collecting the data, there were two research instruments including: the researcher as a data collector and analyst, and the documentations. The data of this study were phenomena classified as symbols. Those data were collected from the Movie. The steps of data collections included: (1) watching movie several times, (2) reading the movie scripts.The data analysis steps in this study were identified as the decriptive analysis technique. The results of this study presented that there were som symbols found in the Demon Slayer: Mugen train movie, they were: nature symbols (flame, water, and Thunder), object symbols (word (Nichirin Sword), Hanafuda Earrings, and tomb), animal symbol (crow), and color symbols (pink, blue, black or dark, and red).

Abstract

Evolusi media pembelajaran telah mengubah kegiatan pembelajaran yang melibatkan penggunaan teknologi dan beradaptasi pada implementasi Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi (TIK). Untuk mencapai tujuan yang ingin dicapai dalam rangka meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan, pendidik perlu mengembangkan bentuk media dan mengintegrasikannya dengan model pembelajaran yang efisien. Video pembelajaran sebagai bahan ajar yang dibuat untuk tujuan pembelajaran yang menekankan pada tiga kategori fungsional bahan ajar yang dirancang adalah bahan presentasi, bahan referensi, dan bahan belajar mandiri menjadi solusi pendidik khususnya dalam melaksanakn kegiatan belajar di masa pandemi Covid-19 ini. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah metode praktik dengan pendekatan teori dan praktik secara langsung. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan kepada seluruh pendidik di SDN Petemon X/358 Surabaya sebagai bentuk pengembangan diri dan profesionalisme pendidik. Sebagai hasil evaluasi kegiatan ini, kesuksesan dibuktikan dari antusias dan semangat guru-guru di SDN Petemon X/358 Surabaya dalam mengikuti seluruh rangkaian kegiatan ini dan implementasi kegiatan ini dibuktikan dengan adanya video-video yang telah diuat oleh peserta pelatihan yang telah diunggah pada akun atau channel YouTube peserta pelatihan. Diharapkan kegiatan serupa dapa dilakukan untuk pengembangan profesionalisme pendidik seperti kegiatan diklat dengan pembuatan video interaktif yang diintegrasikan dengan gamifikasi dan kuis sehingga dalam penerapan kepada peserta didik, kegiatan belajar bisa berjalan menyenangkan dan hasil belajar bisa dicapai secara baik.

Abstract

Slang is a type of language variation that is used in the informal situation. This study had a goal to describe the type of slang used by the students of 9 A class of PGRI Wringinanom junior high school. The researcher applied a research methodology called descriptive qualitative method because this study described the data in the form of narration. The subjects of this study were 19 students of 9 A class of PGRI Wringinanom Junior High School. Observation was the data collection procedures in this study. The steps of analyzing data in this study were identifying types of slang expression and describing the data. Researcher found 15 expressions of slang that were “alay”, “baper”, “yuk ya”, “ciyus miyapa”, “geje”, “mantul”, “gws”, “otw”, “cabe-cabean”, “ciap”, “86”, “bebeb”, “ajib”, “anjir”, and “bacot”. Researchers found 4 types of slang namely: imitative, acronym, flippant, and fresh and creative.

Abstract

Analysis of sentences with multiple clauses has an essential role in the process of learning English. This study had a purpose to describe the types of sentence with multiple clauses. In supporting this study, the researcher used theories of sentence with multiple clauses by Deborah Phillips. This study was a type of descriptive qualitative study as it analyzed the word data. The object of this study was the text of reading section question of TOEFL Longman Complete Test written in the book ‘Longman Complete Course for the TOEFL Test’. Documentation was the step of collecting data in this study. Data analysis of this study was identifying the sentence with multiple clauses, classifying the types of sentence with multiple clauses, and describing all the results. the researcher found 18 sentences categorized as the sentences with multiple clauses. Those sentences were divided into three types: noun clause (2 sentences), adjective clause (11 sentences), and adverb clause (5 sentences).

Abstract

A good movie is one that is able to convey useful messages in social life. The researcher assumes that Tokyo Revengers Live-Action is a movie that presents social values. In other words, this research has the objective of analyzing and describing the types of social values contained in this movie. In conducting this research, the researcher applied a qualitative descriptive research method. The research instrument is divided into two parts: researchers and documentation. The film scene and scripts from Tokyo Revengers are the object of this research. In the data collection process, the researcher implemented the documentary method. Meanwhile, in the process of data analysis, researchers used content analysis methods. The researcher found that, in the Tokyo Revengers live-action movie, there are three types of social values, including affection, responsibility, and life harmony.

Abstract

Project-based learning is one of the learning methods that has 21st century competencies and a scientific approach. Thus, project-based method training activities need to be carried out as an effort to improve the ability of educators. This community service was aimed to train SMPN 44 Surabaya teachers so that they are able to apply project-based learning in the process of implementing Curriculum Merdeka. This community service applied several methods called observation, discussion, and simulation. This activity was held on July 21, 2022, at SMPN 44 Surabaya. The participants of this community service were educators at SMPN 44 Surabaya. Based on the results and discussion, this training activity has been successfully implemented. This can be shown from the enthusiasm of the educators in the training process. Based on the results of discussions and simulations, the educators have succeeded in making sample projects and teaching modules. Therefore, this training activity is followed up with the provision of periodic evaluation activities.

Abstract

Researchers widely agree that project-based learning, an effective and strongly advised instructional strategy, can foster intense engagement and enhance students' learning experiences. In order to teach descriptive text at MTS Al-Ihsan Krian during the academic year 2021-2022, this study investigated the implementation of project-based learning (PjBL) and how students responded to its use. Students from MTS Al-Ihsan Krian's 7th grade were the study's subjects. The research employed a descriptive-qualitative approach to collect data from observational findings and responses from students collected via a questionnaire. The main source of data for this study was the teaching and learning process. The primary instrument was the researcher, who was assisted by secondary instruments like questionnaires and field notes from observations. PjBL's implementation has been found to have been successful based on observations, and the findings have shown both advantages and disadvantages. According to the survey results, students at MTS Al-Ihsan Krian responded favourably to the implementation of project-based learning, highlighting the positive impact it has on learning descriptive text. On the basis of the research findings, it is recommended that educators at MTS Al-Ihsan Krian keep encouraging and incorporate project-based learning into their descriptive text teaching methodologies. This strategy has demonstrated its potential for increasing student engagement, fostering collaborative skills, and cultivating a deeper comprehension and application of knowledge

Abstract

This study focuses at adjectivization and nominalization of derivational morphemes in Joko Widodo's speech. With derivational morphemes changing word meanings and classes, morphology indicates how languages have evolved. Adjectivization turns words into adjectives whereas nominalization converts non-nouns to nouns. These procedures enrich language, increasing the complexity of communication. Speeches are essential for expressing ideas and forming opinions. By examining Joko Widodo's speech, one can gain insight into morphological techniques used in formal situations. This study examines the functions of adjectivization and nominalization in communication using qualitative approaches and document analysis. Findings show that nominalization, which transforms verbs and adjectives into nouns, improves expression, while adjectivization highlights characteristics and features. Both methods help to communicate complex ideas and vivid descriptions. Future research can examine additional examples and circumstances, even if this study deepens our understanding of derivational morphemes in speech. Finally, Joko Widodo's speech serves as an example of how language may be flexible through nominalization and adjectivization. These processes highlight language's flexibility by enhancing meaning and increasing listener involvement. By using these methods, ideas and creativity are effectively communicated. Understanding how language modifies meaning through morphological changes is aided by the findings of this study.

Abstract

The purpose of this study, "Analysis of Deixis Types in Joko Widodo's Speech: A Pragmatic Linguistics Study," is to identify and classify the many types of deixis used in Joko Widodo's speeches. Personal deixis, temporal deixis, spatial deixis, discourse deixis, and social deixis are five different categories of deixis that are identified. The study uses a pragmatic linguistic framework and a descriptive analytic methodology. The information for the study was taken from transcripts of speech given by Joko Widodo performed at the Sentul International Convention Centre in Bogor, West Java.The analysis demonstrates that the use of deixis in Joko Widodo's speeches contributes significantly to rhetorical efficacy, political discourse building, and communication techniques. The study's conclusions can be applied to language instruction, communication training, and giving public speakers advice on how to use deixis effectively. Future research directions can look at differences in deixis usage in various circumstances or comparison analysis with other political speeches.
