Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi guru mengenai konsep dan karakteristik guru ideal. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologi agar dapat fokus pada persepsi individu, yaitu guru SMA Kecamatan Simboro sebagai partisipan, dengan cara mewawancarai mereka secara semi terstruktur. Teknik analisis data kualitatif diaplikasikan dengan menggunakan bantuan software NVivo. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa konsep guru ideal menurut partisipan adalah guru yang bermanfaat bagi siswa, institusi, masyarakat, bangsa dan negara. Sedangkan kriteria atau karakteristik guru ideal menurut mereka yaitu guru yang memiliki karakter positif, menguasai konten atau materi yang diajarkan, memiliki kompetensi pedagogik, professional, berpengalaman, melakukan kontribusi sosial, dan terus melakukan pengembangan diri.

Abstract

Student involvement in online learning is strongly influenced by learning motivation and preferences for learning mode and media. Therefore, this study was to describe student preferences for using online learning media and student experiences during the Covid-19 pandemic. A total of 133 students from two faculties participated as research respondents. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods while qualitative data were analyzed using NVivo 12 application. The results of this study indicates that students tend to prefer applications compared to other media for online lectures during the Covid-19 pandemic, namely WhatsApp, Zoom, and Google Classroom. In addition, students taking online lectures consider internet network as the most significant obstacle in accessing learning material, submitting assignments, participating in class discussion and collaborating with other students. Students also thought that the network factor caused lecturers unable not teach effectively. Keterlibatan mahasiswa dalam perkuliahan online sangat dipengaruhi oleh motivasi belajar dan preferensi terhadap modus dan media pembelajaran. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk mengetahui preferensi mahasiswa dalam menggunakan media pembelajaran online dan untuk mengungkap pengalaman mahasiswa sebagai pengguna media pembelajaran online di masa pandemi Covid-19. Sebanyak 133 orang mahasiswa dari dua fakultas berpartisipasi sebagai responden penelitian. Data kuantitatif dianalisis dengan metode statistik deskriptif sedangkan data kualitatif dianalisis menggunakan bantuan aplikasi NVivo 12. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa mahasiswa cenderung menyukai tiga jenis aplikasi dibanding media-media lainnya untuk pembelajaran online di masa pandemi Covid-19, yaitu WhatsApp, Zoom dan Google Classroom. Selain itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa mahasiswa dalam mengikuti kuliah online menganggap jaringan sebagai kendala yang paling utama. Jaringan mengakibatkan mereka kesulitan dalam mengakses materi, mengirimkan tugas, berpartisipasi dan berkolaborasi dengan mahasiswa lain. Mahasiswa juga percaya bahwa faktor jaringan ini pula yang mengakibatkan dosen tidak mengajar secara efektif.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the experience of adaptation of new students of English Language Tadris (TBI) STAIN Majene regarding lectures. This research is a qualitative study using a phenomenological approach. A total of four new students were recruited as participants. The selection of subjects was based on the purposive principle, which was chosen at the beginning on the consideration that they had experienced the phenomenon under study. Data were collected through semi-structured interview techniques and observation to get a direct picture of how the informants adapted. The data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively by presenting the data in a structured manner through conceptualization, classifying, categorizing, identifying themes, and then connecting them with theoretical constructs. The results showed that new students of the TBI STAIN Majene study program had different feelings and adaptations when entering the campus world. Some adapt easily and some find it difficult. Factors that influence their adaptation are readiness, previous college experience, and perception of the academic world of higher education.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine perceptions and actions of educational policy makers regarding parental engagement in children’s education within a district in West Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. The study employed a qualitative study using a phenomenological approach. Data were collected from five participants through a semi-structured interview, involving the head of the district, the education department head, a sub-district head, a village head, and a school principal. The collected data were analyzed by applying Moustakas’s (1994) analytical methods consisting of three steps namely bracketing, creating clusters of meaning, and textural description. The results showed that the policy makers within the district had an appropriate perception about the increment of parental involvement in education, not only for students but also for schools, parents, and local governments. However, positive perceptions of educational policy makers within the district were not consistent with their actions, proved by no particular policy intending for parental involvement.

Abstract

This systematic review aims to present variables that can be applied to attribute an excellent teacher. Moreover, it describes the difference of teacher criteria between the first-century (2000 and after) and pre-the-first-century (before the year of 2000). Peer-reviewed articles published in academic journals were searched on Google Scholar, Springer and Scopus by using search terms to find articles related to the systematic review purposes, which were “teacher characteristics”, “effective teacher”, “best teacher”, “teacher criteria”, “qualified teacher”, “21st century teachers”, “teacher quality” and "excellent teacher". The articles collected from the database were filtered based on eligibility criteria through the process of study selection. Results shows eleven included articles recorded in the databases. Such reports were reviewed to find out variables that they used to describe an ideal teacher. Moreover, the review was conducted based on other key features, namely number of publications, year of studies, number of citations, school level, countries of the studies, and variable distribution among the studies. It can be concluded that there are nine variables that can be used to describe an excellent teacher, which are content competency, pedagogical competency, kind characters, teaching principles, participation for positive changes, communication skills, self-improvement, experience and gender.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bentuk dan penanganan kasus hukum guru di Indonesia. Hasil penelitian ini dapat dijadikan sebagai referensi bagi peneliti yang fokus pada bidang hukum dan pendidikan khususnya pada topik guru. Secara praktis, para pemangku kebijakan di bidang pendidikan memiliki pengetahuan dalam memutuskan sebuah kebijakan pendidikan serta mengatasi sebuah persoalan yang melibatkan guru. Data penelitian diperoleh dari penelusuran kasus hukum guru menggunakan mesin pencari Google. Kata kunci “kasus guru” diaplikasikan untuk memperoleh pemberitaan mengenai kasus hukum guru. Berdasarkan hasil pencarian, terdapat 85 pemberitaan yang berhasil ditangkap oleh Google. Penulis kemudian membuka satu per satu berita tersebut dimana berita yang memenuhi syarat sebagai data selanjutnya di download menggunakan aplikasi NCapture dan disimpan dalam bentuk file PDF. Data selanjutnya dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif dengan menyajikan data secara terstruktur sehingga peneliti mendapatkan gambaran dari apa yang ingin diteliti. Aplikasi NVivo 12 digunakan sebagai alat bantu dalam manajemen dan analisis data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kasus hukum guru yang paling marak diberitakan secara online adalah kasus kekerasan, pemukulan, pencabulan, penganiayaan, dan pelecehan.
