Abstract

Abstract - The purpose of this research was to find out whether there is a  significant  correlations between  vocabulary mastery and self esteem on students’ speaking skill. The population of this study was X grade students majoring in natural science at SMU 64 Jakarta Timur, while the sample was 60 students  were chosen randomly from those 3 classes. The writer used three instruments to gain the data :  a vocabulary test,  a speaking test, and a self esteem questionnaire.  A quantitative analysis that included descriptive statistic and the correlation and regression analysis tests were conducted to answer the research hypotheses. The research results found that  there is a significant simultaneous correlation between vocabulary mastery and self esteem on students’ speaking skill. This finding has proved  the views which are vocabulary as a main language component and self esteem as affective factor have contributions in developing learning language especially fon speaking skill.  Key words : Vocabulary Mastery, Self Esteem, Speaking Skill

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze and to identify a literary work of an imagery which is found in Sonnet of William Shakerspeare by using qualitative method. Imagery is an image that symbolizes the object in poem and another literary work through the human’s sense, thought, and action by vigurative language. The writer also does some steps, such as collecting data, reading the sonnet more than once to get the meaning, analyzing the datas and making conclussion. The data are collected from the relevant references books, websites, and some articles. In the discussion, the writer analyzes the type of imagery that is found in the sonnets and discusses the meaning of each imagery found. The results of this analysis are about the imagery that is found in William Shakespeare’s sonnets which is divided by some type of imagery, they are: visual imagery, kinesthetic imagery, olfactory imagery, auditory imagery, organic imagery, and thermal imagery, also the meaning of each of them.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out the comparison of narrative writing skill between inductive learning strategy and deductive learning strategy for 11th grader student of SMK Selagan. The writer uses quasi experiment method of this research. The aim of this method is to know a comparison between inductive learning strategy and deductive learning strategy which is given for students. Also this research is to know whether those learning strategies having significant effect by giving inductive learning strategy and deductive learning strategy to students. From the research done by the writer have found that the grade of students learning and analyzed by using Test Normality, then continued by the count of t test in significantly degree of α = 0, 05 by free degree nA + nB-2. The result found that t count in significantly degree is 3, 926, and T table is 1, 670, continued to be compared of it. The fact is tcount > ttable (3,926 > 1,670). It means  the hypothesis is accepted and the statement said that deductive learning strategy more better and truly giving the effect toward learning English writing is definitely true.
