Abstract

Palm flower is a plant that is widely distributed in the tropics. Originally from Madagascar, it was known as Madagascar periwinkle. The components of active compounds present in blood sites are phenolic acids, alkaloids, and flavonoids. Palm flower leaves contain a lot of flavonoid compounds that function as antioxidants, stimulate the production of nitrite oxidants (can dilate blood vessels), inhibit erythrocyte clumping, and can inhibit the growth of cancer cells. This study aims to observe the morphological characteristics and determine the content of phytochemical compounds in various varieties of palm flower (Catharanthus roseus) collection of the Labuhanbatu University experimental garden. The materials used in this study were 4 types of palm flower plant varieties collected by Labuhanbatu University. The method in this research is a survey with a qualitative approach to collect information related to the collected data. The results of observations of morphological characteristics were differences in stem color and flower color of palm flower and differences in flavonoids in each palm flower, and palm flower TW was palm flower which had the highest flavonoid content, namely 663.80. Keywords: Palm flower, morphology, flavonoids

Abstract

Soil chemical properties have an important role in the growth and production of oil palm. Plants need nutrients to increase productivity. Oil palm (Elaeisguineensis Jacq) is the main plantation crop in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the characteristics of soil chemical properties in oil palm plantation stands of the people of Perlabian Village, South Labuhanbatu District, Kampung Rakyat District. The method used is a free grid survey method at the semi-detail survey level. Oil palm soil samples were taken from 6 oil palm sample trees with an area of 1 hectare. The parameters of the chemical properties of the soil are the content of N, P, K, Mg, pH, C-organic, and C/N. Data analysis was done by descriptive method. The results showed that the chemical properties of the soil in the people's garden of Perlabian Village, South Labuhanbatu Village, showed that the N-soil content was 0.14% (low), P-soil was 140.60 ppm (very high), K-soil was 0.08 me /100g (very low), Mg 0.09 me/100g (very low), pH level 5.00 (sour), C-organic content 3.48% (high), and C/N ratio 24.86 (high). Therefore, the chemical properties of the soil in the people's garden of Perlabian Village, South Labuhanbatu Village, still require proper fertilization to meet the needs of macro and micro nutrients in the soil. Keywords: Oil Palm, Chemical Properties, SoilKarakteristik Sifat Kimia Tanah Pada Tegakan Tanaman Kelapa Sawit (Studi Kasus di Kebun Milik Rakyat di Desa Perlabian Kecamatan Kampung Rakyat Kabupaten Labuhanbatu Selatan)

Abstract

South Labuhanbatu is a district in North Sumatra which is synonymous with a very large area of oil palm plantations. The area of oil palm plantations in South Labuhanbatu district is around 57,307 hectares with a total production of 640,196.60 tons. This study aims to determine the levels of nutrients uptake of nitrogen (N) in oil palm plants produce. So far, the status of testing for potassium nutrient uptake in people's plantations in Perlabian Village, Kampung Rakyat South Labuhanbatu District, has never been carried out. Fertilization and care are carried out through knowledge from generation to generation, so it is important to study the status of nitrogen uptake in oil palm leaves. This research was carried out using a semi-detailed free-level grid survey method with a density of 100 meters. A total of 6 leaf samples were taken on the 17th leaf midrib and then 70% alcohol was applied and put into a plastic sample for further testing in the laboratory of PT. Socfindo. The results showed that the 2nd leaf sample was deficient and 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6 leaf samples were at the optimum point. The uptake of N (nitrogen) in the leaves of oil palm plants in smallholder plantations in Perlabian Village, Kampung Rakyat District, showed that the total N content of leaves was included in the optimal category. Keywords: Nitrogen, Nutrient Uptake, Oil Palm Plants have
