Abstract

Pain is the most common effects in patients after undergoing surgery of Caesarean section. Pain management using pharmacological and non pharmacological management, one of non-pharmacological management is using music therapy The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of music therapy on pain level of postoperative patients' with Caesarean section. The type of study is analytic with True Experimental type with Pre Post Test Control Group Design done by Random Allocation. The study population is post-operative Caesarean section mothers who are hospitalized in Surabaya Islamic Hospital Surabaya Jl. A Yani since May 2011. The Sample are some populations above mentioned with amount of 24 respondents, 12 respondents as a control and 12 respondents were given music therapy. The Sampling technique uses Consecutive Sampling. Independent variable is music therapy and dependent variable is pain level. The instrument used to measure the independent variables is a check sheet lists while the dependent variable is Descriptive Pain Intensity Scale. To analyze the changes of pain level in the control group and the treatment used Paired T Test, the result showed that values of ρ is 0.166 or (ρ > 0.05), so there is no significant change of pain level on a pre test and post test control group, whereas in treatment group obtained value of ρ is 0.000 or (ρ < 0.05), so there is a significant change of pain level on a pre test and post test. To analyze differences of pain levels in control group and treatment group is used Independent T Test. The results of study got value of ρ is 0.807 (ρ > 0.05). So there is no significant difference of pain level pre test in control and treatment groups, while the post test value of ρ is 0.024 (ρ < 0.05). So there is a significant difference of pain level post test in control and treatment groups. So it can be conclude that there is influence of music therapy toward pain levels of postoperative patients of Caesarean section. Music therapy is expected to be used as a Complementary Therapy to reduce pain at the incision Caesarean section.

Abstract

Cervical cancer is a malignant disease attacked the female reproductive organ which is often found in women with high parity. The data obtained from Yayasan Wisnuwardhana Surabaya (Cancer Foundation) in 2012 showed that among 9630 women having Pap Smear, 88 (0.9%) were detected with cervical cancer. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to find out the correlation between parity and incidence of cervical cancer in the above mentioned cancer foundation. The design of study was analytic-observational done by applying cross sectional approach. The population involved 400 women having Pap Smear in the stated cancer foundation in March 2014. 200 respondents were chosen as the samples by using probability sampling, in which simple random sampling technique was used in this study. The instrument for collecting the data was the medical record. The data were then analyzed by using Chi-Square statistic test with the significance level α = 0.05. The result of study showed that none of the nullipara and primipara (0%) suffered from cervical cancer, whereas few of the multipara (5.9%) and half of the grandemultipara (50%) suffered from cervical cancer. Moreover, the result of Chi-Square was not qualified so that Fischer’s Exact test was used and showed that p = 0.000 < α = 0.05 so that H0 was rejected illustrating that there was a correlation between parity and incidence of cervical cancer in the above mentioned cancer foundation. In conclusion, the higher parity, the more risk for cervical cancer. The facility of health services are expected to give more health counseling to the women with high risk of having cervical cancer to have Pap Smear.

The population involved all women suffering from cervical cancer found in Indonesian Cancer Foundation, totally 20 people. 19 respondents fulfilling the criteria were taken as the samples by using simple random sampling technique. The instrument for collecting the data was the questionnaire of Back Depression Inventory. The data obtained before were analyzed by using Spearman’s Rank correlation test with the significance level α = 0.05. The result of study done to 19 respondents suffering from cervical cancershowed that half of them (47.4%) had a low level of knowledge about cervical cancer; and 44.4% had mild depression. Moreover, according to Spearman’s Rank correlation test, p = 0.024 < α = 0.05 so that H0 was rejected describing that there was a correlation between cervical cancer and depression level in cervical cancer sufferers. The resume of this study was almost helf respondents in Indonesian Cancer Foundation had a low level of knowledge, and had mild depression.
