<![CDATA[ In the global era, EFL learners must master writing skill in order to communicate and covey their message. Project based learning is used to motivate them to be independent learner. It is expected that students will engage in writing process. The purpose is to investigate whether project based learning can improve the students’ writing ability. It was experimental research to compare between experimental and control group. The samples were 60 students of junior high school. The instrument is writing test. The data was analysed using SPSS. The result shows that the mean score of control class in post-test is 64.60 (SD = 10.87420) and the mean score of experimental class is 84.83 (SD = 10.19494). It means the p value is .00 or less than 0.05. It indicates that there is significant difference on students’ writing skill between experimental group and control group. The results of post-test in experimental class are higher than the control class. It also supported by Eta Squared value 0.48 or classified as large effect. It means that the use of project based learning gave positive effect towards students’ writing skill. It is recommended to use project based learning to improve the English skills. <![CDATA[The study's objective was to examine if using Edmodo as an online assessment tool can improve students’ reading comprehension of recount text in e-learning. E-learning is considered an effective way to facilitate a better learning experience for students, especially in the assessment aspect. Formative assessment is a critical component of education that enable teachers and students to evaluate and improve their performance. Pre-experimental research with one group pre-test and post-test was applied in this study. The participants in the study were 36 tenth-grade senior high students in Krian, East Java. The instrument was pre and post-test consisting of objective and subjective tests. A paired sample t-test in SPSS 25 was used to analyze the data. The confidence interval of the difference used is 0.05. Therefore, the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted if the value of Sig. (2-tailed) is less than 0.05. The result shows that online formative assessment through Edmodo can improve students’ reading comprehension skills. It is clear that Edmodo can serve as a prominent online assessment tool for students to assist them in improving their reading comprehension skills in e-learning. It is recommended teachers should continue to look for alternative platforms to conduct online assessments for e-learning to keep up with modern technological developments.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aimed to investigate the correlation between students metacognitive strategies and their writing quality in an online learning context. It involved 35 English-major students at one of the state universities in East Java, Indonesia. A metacognitive strategies questionnaire and a writing rubric were used as the instruments of this study. Then, the data obtained were analyzed by using a descriptive statistic and a Spearman rho correlation analysis with SPSS 21 program. The results reported that the participants applied metacognitive strategies at high frequency. Among the three kinds of metacognitive strategies, evaluating strategies (M=4.17) are the most strategy used by students, followed by monitoring strategies (M=3.98) and planning strategies (M=3.92) sequentially. The overall mean of the students essay scores (M=76.10) reported that the students writing quality was a good level. The highest to the lowest quality was obtained by the organization aspect, mechanics, language use, vocabulary, and content respectively. Further, there was a moderate positive correlation between students metacognitive strategies and their writing quality in online learning. In sum up, the more students apply metacognitive strategies, the better writing quality they have. It is suggested to conduct with larger participants to make the results more generalizable.]]>

<![CDATA[This study was conducted to investigate correlation between students' speaking skills and self-directed learning in a virtual English community. This quantitative research involved 20 students who joined the speaking community at a public university in Surabaya. It used speaking rubric and a questionnaire as instrument data and was then analyzed by using SPSS 26.0 for Windows. The result of this study was the students included moderate self-directed learning users. The highest mean score was self-management (M=3.79) and followed by self-motivation (M=3.64) and self-monitoring (M=3.34). In terms of speaking skills, the students were good speakers in every speaking aspect. Sequentially, the best speaking aspect mastered was vocabulary and followed by grammar & accuracy, pronunciation, and fluency & coherence. Through correlation analysis, the use of self-directed learning was highly correlated with the students' speaking skills (r=0.669). Thus, it could be said that applying self-directed learning is a helpful way for the students' speaking skills. Keywords: Speaking skills, self-directed learning, English community]]>

<![CDATA[Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia (WHO) telah menetapkan Corona Virus Disease 2019 menjadi Pandemi Internasional. Negara Indonesia sendiri dalam keppres no nomor 11 tahun 2020 menetapkan Kedaruratan Kesehatan Masyarakat Corana VirusDisease 2019 (COVID-l9) di lndonesia yang wajib dilakukan upaya penanggulangan sesuai dengan ketemtuan peraturan perundang-undangan. Dalam rangka membantu pemerintah menanggulangi COVID 19 ini. Salah satu bentuk bantuan Unesa adalah melalui penyelenggaraan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Penugasan COVID 19 yang berfokus pada penanganan covid 19, seperti mengembangkan pembelajaran online pada sekolah. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk membantu MGMP Bahasa Inggris terutama di Kota Surabaya dengan cara meningkatkan pengajaran dengan adanya workshop media online sehingga diharapkan mampu mendukung himbauan pemerintah untuk melakukan social dan physical distancing agar penyebaran Covid 19 bisa dikendalikan. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penyelesaikan masalah adalah pendekatan task-based dan model learn and practice. Peserta pelatihan adalah guru SMP dari beberapa sekolah di Surabaya yangtelah ditunjuk oleh pembina dan ketua MGMP Surabaya. Dalam hal ini, guru akan mendapatkan materi yang langsung akan diikuti dengan workshop desain penyusunan pembelajaran kolaborasi dengan memanfaatkan aplikasi digital. Pelatihan media online dimana guru-guru mempraktikkan secara langsung penggunaan media pembelajaran dengan beberapa aplikasinya mampu menumbuhkan kolaborasi siswa dan ketertarikan terhadap mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris selama proses pembelajaran berlangsung secara daring. Melalui media online guru dapat memonitor pembelajaran, melakukan assessment, dan melakukan transfer ilmu sehingga proses belajar mengajar tetap dapat berjalan secara maksimal.]]>

<![CDATA[This study investigates whether or not students' critical thinking skills can be improved through the use of digital storytelling. It was a pre-experimental design in which one group was tested twice, once before treatment was given and once after treatment had been administered. The instrument consisted of a test that included both multiple-choice questions and an essay test in order to evaluate the students' capacity for critical thinking after they had been exposed to narrative texts. Twenty students from a language class at one of the Islamic senior high schools in Bali, Indonesia, were the ones who took part in the study. In order to evaluate the growth of the students, the data were put through a paired sample t-test for analysis. The findings demonstrated that using digital storytelling to tell a story can strengthen students' ability to think critically. It was established that the mean score on the pre-test was 63.85, and the mean score on the post-test was 84.85, which indicates that there was an increase in performance. In addition, the significance value was 0.000, which was a number that was lower than 0.05. It meant that students' analytical and deductive reasoning abilities improved. It is strongly recommended, for the purposes of future research, to carry out studies using a significantly larger number of samples.]]>

<![CDATA[This study investigates the identity conflict experiences of four female Muslim students involved in persuasive speech activities of a persuasive speech activity as part of Public Speaking course. The research aims to explore the micro-culture phenomena within the classroom, i.e. identity conflicts faced by the participants, strategies for identity negotiation, and the role of strategic investment in language learning. Case study approach was employed using purposive sampling based on classroom reflections at the end of the academic term to determine the participants. In-depth interviews were conducted with the selected participants in a confidential one-on-one setting. The findings contribute to understanding the relationships of micro-culture, identity conflicts and negotiation, and strategic investment in the context of language learning. The research highlights reflective process in relation to the experiences of female Muslim students and provides implications for creating inclusive and safe space for learning environments.]]>

<![CDATA[Education field has provided more space for teachers to be more creative in using technology, as well as being an opportunity to improve students' competence in facing the society 5.0 era. However, social conditions prove that not all teaching staff are able to adapt to the presence of a digital role in the education sector. This workshop was done through several methods, such as observation sheets, scoring rubrics, and questionnaires for pre and post test. The number of participant in this service community was 54 Engliah teachers for junior high in Trenggalek. The results showed that English teachers have experienced improvements in aspects of knowledge and skills related to making digital storytelling media based on local wisdom which can be used as alternative media. It could also improve the quality of teaching and learning. In addition, this service activity would be based on local wisdom considering that the Trenggalek area is a tourist area that is rich in tourist charm and has natural and cultural beauty so that it becomes a new tourist destination in Indonesia. It was concluded that PKM activities can run effectively and efficiently which can be seen in the increased aspects of knowledge and skills. For this reason, it is suggested that English teachers can take advantage of existing culture as an alternative to English teaching materials to attract and motivate students in learning English.]]>

<![CDATA[E-commerce kini menjadi pusat perhatian khususnya bagi para pelaku usaha di Desa Sukorejo. DesaSukorejo merupakan salah satu desa yang memiliki Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Non-Usaha Mikro Kecil yangcukup variatif. Namun pemasaran hanya dilakukan secara door to door, sehingga jangkauan pemasaranterhadap UMKM relatif sedikit. Untuk itu, diperlukan pemahaman tentang pentingnya e-commerce danNomor Induk Berusaha (NIB) sebagai bentuk legalitas kemandirian berwirausaha. Penelitian ini bertujuanuntuk melatih para pelaku usaha dalam mendaftarkan lapak di OSS dan mendapatkan NIB dengan ecommerce (Shopee). Metode penelitian ini berupa pelatihan dan pendekatan terhadap masyarakatkhususnya ibu-ibu PKK di Desa Sukorejo. Indikator keberhasilan dapat dicapai melalui, (1) PeningkatanKesejahteraan UMKM Ibu-ibu PKK Desa Sukorejo, (2) Keberhasilan pendaftaran lapak di OSS dan NIB, (3)Kepuasan ibu-ibu PKK terhadap pelatihan e-commerce. Hal tersebut diukur menggunakan pretest danposttest. Data dianalisis melalui tahap reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi data. Hasil penelitianmenunjukkan bahwa ibu-ibu PKK Desa Sukorejo berhasil mendaftarkan lapak perorangan di OSS danmendapatkan NIB. Selain itu, respon peserta terhadap pelatihan ini baik sehingga memberikan hak legaluntuk lapak perorangan oleh ibu-ibu PKK.]]>

<![CDATA[Student creativity is needed in 21st century learning. When students have creative thinking skills, they can create new things that are innovative or creative. For this reason, this study aims to foster creative thinking skills for English students by using the Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT)method that is integrated with technology in online learning and describes the results of student creativity. This study is a class study with participants are students majoring in English Education which amounts to 29. The research instrument is an observation and test sheet. Hasil research shows that the TBLT stage has been carried out well in learning by lecturers and students. This can be seen in the activities ofmahasiswa when they are able to develop English teaching materials, which starts from choosing KD and making a good GPA. In addition, analyze predetermined books and eventually they can create the development of the selected material using wakelet.com, as well as presenting synchronously (through zoom sessions and asynchronously (via wakalet). In addition, the results of the paired sample t-test analysis showed that the T-value was 0.000 and there was a significant increase in student creativity in the application of TBLT integrated with technology in the learning of Developing EFL Materials courses. It is concluded that to foster student creativity, methods are needed that can make the learning process more comfortable and interesting for students.]]>
