Abstract

The congregation of Gereja Kristen Jawi Wetan (GKJW) in Jember is the research subject, and an integral part of that divorce rate is rising. The teaching of the Christian faith is not to be divorced, but divorce occurs. In the 1970s, there were no divorces; however, in the 2000s, divorce befell the GKJW Christian family in Jember. The high divorce of church members in Jember in the 2000s became a challenge to Church service. The data from Jember Regency Population and Civil Registration Office aligns with the divorce in GKJW Congregations in Jember. What factors cause divorce in the GKJW Church in all of Jember District? Social supports, administrative requirements, and religious background are the main factors driving divorce. While supporting factors, husband and wife accountability, PIL or WIL, family conflicts, and communication are the stimulants of divorce. These social facts are intertwined in church service in a societal context. Institutionally or personally, church servants should prepare themselves and the “tools” of the services needed to prepare for possible problems.

Abstract

Divorce in Indonesia is increasing from time to time. This is an indisputable social fact. This research will analyze how the divorce process occurs and how a husband or wife sees their partner from Martin Buber's perspective through a philosophical approach. Divorce is a process leading to separation. Starting from a crisis and prolonged domestic conflict, in the end, it brings a new "perspective" towards their partner. In Buber's perspective, the husband and wife relationship could be said to be in the I-Thou pattern before the conflict. Husbands or wives see their partner as a self-image of their existence as a person, but the family crisis leads them to the I-It pattern, which sees partners as things. The crisis impacts changing the pattern of relations from integrative relationships to segregative and separate ones. The separation between husband and wife begins with self-construction by the "strong" party to their partner, who is in an inferior position. This negative self-construction creeps into a social construction, which impacts the stigmatization of the inferior as the party to blame—this stigma against a partner as "It" facilitates the separation process that leads to divorce.

Abstract

The word "dog" in Mark 7:24-30 is characterized by colonizing, dictators, and feudal who want to separate a person on a social, religious, and racial basis. The postcolonial study is the right approach to uncover the complicated of Jesus ' experience with the Syro-Phoenician woman, remembering that the Gospel of Mark was written during the turbulent time of colonial politics, circa 70 CE. The text and context of Mark become integral to the colonization process. The authority of Jesus symbolically as ruler acted superior over the Syro-Phoenician woman, weak and unclean. The authoritative rule over the weak produces stereotypical prejudices and presumptions. At first, they view each other from different places, from their perspective cultural perception rooms, searching for the exact meeting point and establishing bilateral agreements. In the end, they recognize one another, which resulted in repentance.

Abstract

The study's objective is to explore the self-value of disability from a disability perspective. The model as an approach to disability studies has been categorically stigmatic. Looking at disability only at the model level, it falls into an understanding that tends to bring disability into categories, victims who deserve to be pitied (Charity model), the sick (medical model), not potential (social model), and stigmatized by negative identification by cultural models. The disability approach descriptively becomes an analytical knife to unravel the existence of disability problems, thus generating a new perspective on seeing disability. The study's results show that other new constructions of disability models that go beyond internal (self-medical) and external (socio-cultural) problems show that disability is not viewed from a negative perspective but from a different point of view. The relational model will bring disability in the I-Thou Buber relation and philosophically-theologically in the perichoresis relation. The relation is built on the principle of trinitarian relations: Father, Son, and Holly Spirit.
