Abstract

Background: East Kotawaringin and Pulang Pisau Regency have highest prevalence of stunting, respectively, in Central Kalimantan Province. One of the efforts made through the assistance to improve the knowledge and skills of pregnant women. The study was aimed at analyzing the effectiveness of assistance on behavior and attitudes among pregnant women in the Pulang Pisau Regency. It also aimed to analyze the behavior of pregnant women shifting upon stunting.Method: It is a quasi-experimental study (n = 60), with pre-posttest group comparison. There are two groups, namely conventional (n = 30) and assisted through pocket book (n = 30). Socio-economic data was collected to draw the characteristics of the study subjects through questionnaire. A 2x2 chi-square and paired t-test was run in SPSS v. 18 for Windows.Results: The characteristics of the study respondents did not show any significant differences in attitudes and behaviors of stunting prevention in the Pulang Pisau district. The average change in attitude score shows a significant difference in the assisted group with a pretest of 65.8 ± 7.8, increased during the post-test of 75.7 ± 2.7. It is also an increase in understanding (n = 21). We concluded that pocket-book treatment is more effective in improving the attitude of pregnant women towards preventing stunting.

Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy requires attention due to potential harm mother and infant. Furthermore, it is an increased mother’s risk of the dead. It is suggested that the high rate of anemia is related to the level of knowledge and mothers’ nutrition. The Kereng Bangkirai Health center is one of the basic emergency on neonatal obstetric service, so-called PONED, in Palangka Raya. It is also noticed that pregnant women having lowest number on Fe intake. This research was aimed to analyze the relationship between the level of knowledge and nutrition status on maternity risk in Kereng Bangkirai Health Centre. The research was conducted using a cross-sectional design. The population was all pregnant women within Kereng Bangkirai health center, on which recorded during January, 1st to Dec, 31st 2015 period. The calculated sample was 140 persons, using consecutive sampling technique. Univariate conducted through frequency distribution while bivariate analysis with chi-square. The study indicates that the mothers’ level of knowledge had a significant relationship with anemia (p=0.04). Meanwhile, their nutrition status showed no linkage with anemia. It is concluded that the mothers’ cognition is a risk factor for anemia during pregnancy.

Abstract

One of the efforts to reduce infant mortality is through exclusive breastfeeding (EBF). The target of EBF coverage in the world shows a fluctuating trend that tends to decrease. One of the innovations needed to increase exclusive breastfeeding is through prenatal breastfeeding counseling. This study aims to look at the effectiveness of prenatal breastfeeding counseling on breastfeeding practice. This research used a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a post-test only control group design approach. The study was conducted in the working area of ??the Menteng Public Health Center in Palangka Raya in March-October 2018. Samples for each group were 20 respondents who met the inclusion criteria. The data collection tool uses a questionnaire. Data analysis included univariate and bivariate (Chi-Square and Odd Ratio tests). The results of comparative testing of the effectiveness of breastfeeding counseling found a significant relationship between prenatal breastfeeding counseling with breastfeeding practice p-value = 0.025 (p <0.05) with an Odd Ratio of 0.222 which means that mothers given prenatal breastfeeding counseling have the potential to give EBF practice as much as 1 / 0.222 = 4.5 times higher than mothers who were not given counseling. Prenatal breastfeeding counseling was effective in enhancing EBF practices.

Abstract

The coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in Palangka Raya City is also far from the target set by the government. Palangkaraya Health Profile in 2017 from 10 main Puskesmas in Palangka Raya City, the three lowest coverage health centers was Jekan Raya Health Center (2.58%), Menteng Health Center (6.13%), and Kayon Health Center (9.42%). The purpose of this community service is to provide assistance to improve the role of the husband in supporting exclusive breastfeeding in the Jekan Raya Community Health Center in Palangka Raya City. The community service was carried out three times to target pregnant/postpartum mothers and their husbands/families.

Abstract

In developing countries with high levels of morbidity in pregnant women, anemia is a significant health problem and is one of the risk factors for postpartum bleeding. One area with low Fe intake data in Palangka Raya City is Puskemas Jekan Raya. In pregnant women, the intake of Fe is low and thus should be suspected as an indication of the anemia triggering factor during pregnancy. Efforts to increase pregnant women's knowledge of anemia can be made through improving healthcare employees with information or health education; particularly video media consist of a combination of images and sounds. Three methods have been applied in the Community Service Activity Method, including the preparation, implementation of activities, and evaluation. The activity was carried out at the Puskemas Pembantu Bumi Palangka, Jekan Raya District, Palangka Raya City, using a class meeting of pregnant women. Media or aids used in performing these activities, such as paperwork, laptops, projectors, and videos on anemia prevention in pregnant women. This activity increases pregnant women's knowledge by 80%. In addition, pregnant women's classroom activities are also very beneficial because they improve interaction and share information.

Abstract

The decrease in visits by pregnant women to check themselves is closely related to the anxiety and fear of pregnant women during the Covid-19 pandemic. Worries due to the risk of contracting Covid-19 have caused mothers to delay their pregnancy check-ups at basic service facilities or primary health care other health care facilities. The lack of services in terms of personnel and infrastructure, including personal protective equipment, also has an impact on anxiety for pregnant women. The purpose of the study was to identify the anxiety of pregnant women during the Covid-19 pandemic in the work area of ​​the Kalampangan Health Center. The research design was cross-sectional, with a sample of 133 pregnant women in the third trimester who performed Ante Natal Care in the Work Area of ​​the Kalampangan Health Center. The significant relationship between age and anxiety of pregnant women (p-value = 0.002), parity with anxiety of pregnant women (p-value = 0.002), and education with the anxiety of pregnant women (p-value = 0.003), work status, and marital status were not related. significantly with the incidence of the anxiety/fear in pregnant women. Pregnant women should avoid anxiety by increasing their knowledge so that anxiety can be managed properly. Knowledge of pregnant women can be increased through counseling, counseling, online classes, and home visits. Keywords: Pregnant women, Anxiety, Covid-19 pandemic
