Abstract

This research aimed at knowing whether the use of TGT (Teams Games Tournament) cooperative learning model completed with Power Point media resulted better student learning achievement than the use of TGT cooperative learning model on Atomic Structure and Periodic System of the Elements lesson at the tenth grade of State Islamic Senior High School 4 Kampar in the Academic Year of 2017/2018. This research was Quasi-experiment with pretest and posttest design conducted in two classes—the first experimental group taught by using TGT cooperative learning model completed with Power Point media and the second experimental group taught by using TGT cooperative learning model. Simple random sampling technique was used in this research. The techniques of collecting the data were interview, preliminary data test that was homogeneity test, final data tests that were pretest and posttest, and documentation that was used to strengthen the obtained data. The research findings showed that posttest mean score of the first experimental group was 79 and the second group was 76,25. Final data analysis was using t-test, so it was obtained that tobserved was 2.21 and ttable was 2.02 at 5% significant level. tobserved was higher than ttable, so H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. It meant that there was an effect of implementing TGT cooperative learning model completed with Power Point media toward student learning achievement on Atomic Structure and Periodic System of the Elements lesson at State Islamic Senior High School 4 Kampar, and the coefficient of effect was 11.38%.

Abstract

This research was instigated by the development of science and technology encouraging efforts to make reforms in the use of technology results in the learning process. Thus, a design and test were designed for e-magazine teaching material with Dilemmas Stories approach in this research on Electrolyte and non-Electrolyte Solution lesson. It was Research and Development (R&D) with Borg and Gall procedure design, and it was administered at Senior High School of Plus Bina Bangsa Pekanbaru. The subjects of this research were the experts of media and material, the practicality test experts that were teachers, and students of Senior High School of Plus Bina Bangsa Pekanbaru. The object was e-magazine learning media with Dilemmas Stories approach as a learning source on Electrolyte and non-Electrolyte Solution lesson. The data collected in this research were in the forms of validation questionnaire and response questionnaire. The data obtained then were analyzed by using qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. E-magazine developed was tested very valid with the percentage 86.25% by the experts of media and material, the practicality assessment was 93.26% by Chemistry subject teacher, and students gave good responses with the percentage 70%. Based on these results, it could be concluded that e-magazine with Dilemmas Stories approach as a learning source on Electrolyte and non- Electrolyte Solution lesson was valid and good.

Abstract

This research was instigated by the low of student learning achievement, student learning interest, and the use of internet based instructional media at the school.  It was based on the results of preliminary observation that was conducted in the Chemistry learning process.  The use of Quipper School instructional media aimed at increasing student learning interest in order to increase student learning achievement.  This research aimed at knowing whether there was an effect of learning using Quipper School media toward student learning achievement and interest on Electrolyte and Non-Electrolyte Solution lesson.  It was an experimental research.  All the tenth-grade students of Senior High School of Muhammadiyah 1 Pekanbaru, there were 6 classes and 166 students.  Purposive sampling technique was used in this research.  In this case, the tenth-grade students of Natural Science 3 were selected as the samples based on the observation in the field and Chemistry subject teacher consideration at the school.  There were two instruments, student learning interest questionnaire and learning achievement test question.  Techniques of processing and analyzing the data were descriptive and inferential statistics.  The results of hypothesis testing in this research showed that there was an effect of using quipper school media toward student learning achievement and interest, tobserved ≥ ttable (2.064>9.820) and there was an effect of using Quipper School media toward student learning achievement. The score was tobserved≥ttable (2.064>9.820),   So, H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted.  Based on the research findings, it could be concluded that  there was an effect of learning using Quipper School media  toward student learning achievement and interest on Electrolyte and Non-Electrolyte Solution lesson.Keywords:     Learning Achievement, Learning Interest,  Quipper School, Electrolyte and Non-Electrolyte Solution

Abstract

This research were investigated by the lack of socio-scientific issue (SSI)-based pop up book media. This research aimed at designing SSI-based pop up book media on crude oil lesson. Research and development (R&D) method was used in this research with borg and gall model that was limited to the fifth stage. The stages were collecting the data, planning, developing the product, testing the product, and revising. SSI-based pop up book media on crude oil lesson was tested valid with the percentage 94.4% (very valid), it was tested practical with the percentage 96.1% (very practical), and it got good response to overall content of pop up book with the percentage 96.7% (very practical). Based on these findings, it could be concluded that SSI-based pop up book media on crude oil lesson was proper to be used as a learning media for students at school.Keywords : Pop Up Book, Socio-Scientific Issue (SSI), Crude Oil

Abstract

This research was instigated by the importance of interesting teaching material availability on Chemistry subject. This research aimed at designing an interesting chemistry teaching material for students in order to increase educational quality, then validity test was conducted by the experts of media and material, practicality test was by Chemistry subject teacher, and trial was to the students. In this research, the handout was designed by using Guided Note Taking based Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach on Reaction Rate lesson. The final product was in the form of a valid handout. It was Research and Development (R&D) with Borg and Gall modification model, and it was administered at State Senior High School Plus Riau Province. Interview, questionnaire, and documentation were the techniques of collecting the data. The handout with Guided Note Taking based CTL approach on Reaction Rate lesson developed was tested valid with the percentage 91.72% (very valid), it was tested practical with the percentage 88.33% (very practical), and it got good response to all handout contents with the percentage 93.54% (very good). Based on these findings, it could be concluded that the handout with Guided Note Taking based CTL approach on Reaction Rate lesson was valid and practical, and it got good student response, so it could be done the test on the next step.Keywords : Handout, Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL), Guided Note Taking, Reaction Rate

Abstract

AbstractThis research aimed at knowing whether there was or not an effect and increase of values of Community of Inquiry (CoI) based Blended Learning model toward student learning achievement. It was Quasi Experimental research—a research that used an Experimental group and a Control group determined the difference of two variables. The samples of this research were 2 groups—the tenth-grade students of Natural Science 4 (the Experimental group) that were 36 students taught by using Community of Inquiry based Blended Learning model and the students of Natural Science 5 (the Control group) that were 34 students taught by using Conventional learning. The techniques of collecting the data were written pretest and posttest. The collected data were analyzed by using Independent Sample t test and to see the effect of using the coefficient of determination. The final data processing results obtained tcount of 1.778 while the value of ttable at a significant level of 5% = 1.684 then H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Means there is an influence of blended learning model based on community of inquiry (CoI) with conventional learning models on student learning outcomes. To determine the magnitude of the effect of the treatment used the coefficient of determination formula and the results obtained by 0.04, so the coefficient of influence (Kp) obtained is equal to 4%.Keywords : Blended Learning, Community of Inquiry, Learning Achievement, Atomic Structure and Periodic System of the ElementsAbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada atau tidaknya pengaruh dan peningkatan nilai model Blended Learning berbasis Community of Inquiry (CoI) terhadap prestasi belajar siswa. Merupakan penelitian kuasi Eksperimental—penelitian yang menggunakan kelompok Eksperimen dan kelompok Kontrol menentukan perbedaan dua variabel. Sampel penelitian ini adalah 2 kelompok yaitu siswa kelas X IPA 4 (kelompok eksperimen) yang berjumlah 36 siswa yang diajar dengan model Blended Learning berbasis Community of Inquiry dan siswa IPA 5 (kelompok kontrol) yang sebanyak 34 siswa diajar dengan menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Teknik pengumpulan datanya adalah pretest dan posttest tertulis. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis dengan menggunakan Independent Sample t-test dan untuk melihat pengaruhnya menggunakan koefisien determinasi. Hasil pengolahan data akhir diperoleh t-hitung sebesar 1,778 sedangkan nilai t-tabel pada taraf signifikan 5% = 1,684 maka H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Berarti ada pengaruh model pembelajaran blended learning berbasis community of inquiry (CoI) dengan model pembelajaran konvensional terhadap hasil.Kata Kunci: Blended Learning, Komunitas Inkuiri, Prestasi Belajar, Struktur Atom dan Sistem Periodik Unsur

Abstract

AbstractGrowth and development in the industrial sector has made residents contribute to the waste that enters the environment. Imperfect waste treatment causes pollution to the environment and waters, so the water quality has decreased. The decline in water quality is caused by water pollution where foreign substances enter and leave. One of them is heavy metal. A number of studies have been carried out to treat and remove heavy metal ions in waters, one of which is the adsorption process. The adsorption method usually utilizes waste that is often disposed of and even modifications or activations are carried out in order to expand the surface area of the absorbent material. This review article discusses the adsorption method by utilizing Indonesian typical fruit peel waste for the last 10 years. From several studies collected, it was found that waste from typical Indonesian fruit peels was effective in absorbing heavy metal waste. Fruit peel waste that has high effectiveness is lemon peel waste with an absorption capacity of 98.4% on Cd metal, with an pH 8 and optimum contact time of 2 hours. This review can be an alternative for the manufacture of other absorbent materials and eliminate metal pollution in the aquatic environment.Keywords : Water pollution, Heavy Metals, Adsorption, Indonesian Fruit Peel Waste
