Abstract

Period of Abbasiyah was golden age in Islam. At that time, Moslem has an elevated intellectual tradition. This tradition can be seen from the existence of personal  and public libraries, the conducive atmosphere for discussion, high motivation in studying,  and need for achievement. The intellectual tradition is not only in Islamic studies, but also in social sciences, natural sciences and humanities.Bayt al-Hikmah was library that was build by the khalifah Abbasiyah which has a multifunction. It was not merely for reading, but it also functions as publication, translation, observatory, and for discussion. The Bayt al-Hikmah played an significant role in creating intellectual atmosphere. These brought Abbasiyah into golden age.This article analyses intellectual tradition in Abbasiyah. The objective of the analyses awakens our awareness of intellectual tradition, because it will lead our nation into a better future.  Creating such condition requires the involvement of each component of this nation.

Abstract

Islamic education is transformatif of consciousness process which going on continous. Therefore, duty and functions of Islamic education is education for long life and sensitive for people requirement. This concept  is mean that duty and fungtion of Islamic education focus on student which dynamic grow, from unborn child to be dead, prestige and moralty. This article analyses functions of Islamic education. The functions are focus on development of student. The objective of the analyses awakens our awareness of transformative, because it will lead our nation into a better future.

Abstract

Madinah charter consist of humane ideas of civil society which are relevant to development and needs of world society and has become a modern way of life. Agreeing with Madinah charter Ideas, the founding fathers of Indonesia adopt it into Jakarta charter which is later called as Pancasila. The content of Madinah charter and Pancasila have smililarities as a SAWa’ or a exalted agreement of humane society. Pancasila is a dignifiying submission of all the national element to establish, love and maintain Indonesia. Similarly, Madinah Charter is noble agreement to defend Madinah as a nation. Both of these charters include basic principles such as: wisdom, brotherhood, equality, tolerance, democracy, cooperation, and justice.

Abstract

Kuttab is fist Islamic education institute, the learning is simple system; reading, writing, physical exercise and skill. This institute development potency with Islamic character. The curriculum balanced intellectuality and spirituality. This article gives information about the firs institute education and scientific tradition in Islam. This tradition will hope motivator and innovator to development Islamic education in Indonesia. This article analyses intellectual tradition in Umayyah.
