Abstract

Bajakah tampala stem (Spatholobus Littoralis Hassk) has the potential to be used for health, especially to increase immunity. The results of the phytochemical screening test showed that the main ingredients of bajakah were saponins, flavonoids, and tannins. The study used an experimental design with a completely randomized design (CRD), which consisted of 5 treatments (dose) and 6 replications. The dose is aquadest (K1/control); 25 mg/kg (K2); 50 mg/kg (K3); 100 mg/kg bw (K4) and 30 mg/kg of brand X immunomodulatory drug (K2). Mice were injected orally with the treatment according to the prescribed dose for 30 days. On the 31st day, the mice were infected with Salmonella typhimurium bacteria. On the 32nd-34th day, physical condition and activity were observed. data on changes in physical condition and activity were processed by descriptive statistics. Batang bajakah tampala extract (Spatholobus littoralis Hask) can improve the immune system as seen from the behavior and external morphology of mice (Mus Musculus) exposed to salmonella typhimurium, especially at a dose of K4 (100 mg/kg bw). Abstract

Exploration of the plants used to treat inflammation and fever continues to grow. One of the plants with great potential is Bajakah tampala (Spatholobus littoralis Hassk). Phytochemical test results showed bajakah contains flavonoids, tannins, saponins, phenolics, and terpenoids that function as anti-inflammatory and antipyretic so as to reduce inflammation and fever. The purpose of this study was to examine the anti-inflammatory effect of Bajakah stem extract (EBB) on the edema area and leukocyte numbers, as well as its antipyretic effect on the rectal temperature of mices. Total experimental study design with a completely randomized factorial design consisted of 5 treatments (EBB doses 0, 25, 50, 100 and aspirin 80 mg/kg) and 4 replications. EBB was extracted by maceration with 70% ethanol. Mices used were 20 healthy males, aged 13-14 weeks, and weighed 30-35 grams. 1% carrageenan was used to induce inflammation and baker's yeast was used to induce fever. EBB is given orally after 30 minutes of inflammation and an increase in rectal temperature. Data were analyzed by variance analysis (ANOVA) and continued with Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at 1% level. The results showed that EBB administration had an effect on reducing edema area and leukocyte numbers after 1% carrageenan induced, and the rectal temperature of mices after baker's yeast induced. In conclusion, EBB has good anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects with the most effective dose of 25 mg/kg. Keywords: Bajakah tampala, Edema, Leukocytes, Rectal temperature

Abstract

Sunscreen made of natural ingredients is an alternative to protect the skin from excess UV radiation and a substitute for chemical products that have side effects. It was reported that Calendula officinalis L. has flavonoid and saponin metabolite compounds which function as photoprotective agents. This research aims to formulate sunscreen cream and examine the effect of variations in Calendula officinalis L flower extract (5%;7%;10% w/v) on physicochemical properties, stability, and values of the Sun Protecting Factor (SPF) in vitro using UV-Vis spectrophotometry and in vivo using wistar line rat test animals to see the time of formation of Minimum Erythema Dose (MED). It has been proven that variations in the concentration of Calendula officinalis L. extract affected the physicochemical properties, such as pH value, viscosity, spreadability, and adhesion strength. However, the overall results of the physicochemical properties still met the requirements. Variations in extract concentration affected the SPF value. In vitro SPF test showed the minimum protection category for F1, extra protection for F2, maximum protection for F3, and no protection for F0. Meanwhile, the in vivo SPF test showed the minimal protection category for F1, medium protection for F2, extra protection for F3, and no protection for F0.

Abstract

Kasus hipertensi menjadi perhatian sejak lama dan diperlukan adanya kepatuhan perawatan diri pada penderita sehingga terjadi peningkatan derajat kesehatan. Terapi komplementer dengan pemanfaatan tanaman herbal seperti jintan hitam bisa dijadikan sebagai alternatif pengobatan gabungan dengan pengobatan farmakologi sebagai upaya menurunkan tekanan darah. Namun, pada masyarakat minat dan pengetahuan terhadap penggunaan jintan hitam sebagai penurun tekanan darah masih kurang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian kapsul jintan hitam terhadap penurunan tekanan darah pada ibu rumah tangga dengan hipertensi di Desa Taban, Kecamatan Jambe, Kabupaten Tangerang. Jenis penelitian quasi eksperimental dengan desain penelitian one group pre-test post-test design. Sampel dipilih secara purposive sampling dan berjumlah 20 responden. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji t berpasangan. Hasil uji analisis menunjukkan pegaruh pemberian kapsul jintan hitam terhadap penurunan tekanan darah (p value <0,001). Kesimpulan penelitian terdapat pengaruh konsumsi kapsul jintan hitam terhadap penurunan tekanan darah pada ibu rumah tangga dengan hipertensi
