Abstract

In 2019, the City Government of Mojokerto declared two schools, SDN Purwotengah and SMPN 2 Kota Mojokerto as cultural heritage. Soekarno also known as Bung Karno, one of the founding fathers of this country, Indonesia, studied there, on 1908 until 1916. This study discusses how the discourse on optimizing the cultural heritage of Bung Karno's two schools as historical tourism objects, from the perspective of social and economic welfare of the community. The theory used in this study is public policy, popularized by Thomas Dye and James E. Anderson. This study uses a qualitative method with the discourse analysis approach of Norman Fairclough. The discourse analyzed anything was conveyed by the Mayor of Mojokerto Ika Puspitasari and the Head of the Education Office Amin Wachid in the Srawung program, which aired from 16.00 to 17.00, 18 August 2020, on TVRI East Java. The result of this study indicates, the City Government of Mojokerto is serious, regarding make historical tourism objects in the cultural heritage buildings of the Bung Karno Schools. The City Government of Mojokerto considers, it will further foster a sense of community nationalism, provide authentic historical insights, as well as emerge a populist economy.keywords: Cultural Heritage, Discourse, Public Policy, Social and Economic Welfare

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas tentang representasi konsep, ideologi, maupun gagasan tertentu yang tertuang dalam film. Eksistensi representasi itu menegaskan bahwa film merupakan media menyampaikan pesan yang dipergunakan oleh pembuatnya. Studi ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan tentang bagaimana memahami representasi dalam film. Teori tentang representasi dan film menjadi dasar dalam studi ini. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan kajian kepustakaan. Hasil yang diperoleh dari studi ini adalah ada banyak cara untuk menganalisis film, antara lain, analisis visual, analisis wacana, dan analisis konten. Studi ini diharapkan bisa menambah khazanah penelitian ilmiah di bidang komunikasi, khususnya, tentang representasi dan film.

Abstract

English is the most widely used international language in the world. Mastering English skills in this modern era is, therefore, crucial. Consequently, English needs to be sufficiently taught to students of all educational levels. In response to the issue, this study aims to investigate the active learning strategy (intense involvement of students in learning processes) employed in the Faculty of Islamic Da'wah and Communication at an Islamic Institute in Lumajang, East Java. This study was designed as a case study with in-depth interviews and observations as the main data collection. The results of this study indicate that although the active learning method was successfully implemented in this faculty, the strategies and learning activities should be varied.

Abstract

This article discusses a number of challenges facing the city of Surabaya as one of the major cities in Indonesia. The city has a number of social problems, including poverty, economic disparity and welfare problems. All that has a correlation with each other, and one of the solutions, is the provision of employment. Since 2010, the City Government of Surabaya has been running the Pahlawan Ekonomi program, which makes Housewives the main target. With hope, they can become the “second economic engine” in the family. Pahlawan Ekonomi provides entrepreneurship training for Housewives, starting from the planning, production, packaging, to marketing. All stages are always under the supervision of a team from the City Government of Surabaya. This paper explores how the implementation of policy in this program, the sustainability, and its correlation to the concept of the Welfare of the People (Kemaslahatan Umat) which is called for in some number of Islamic literatures. In conclusion, this policy has many positive impacts on the community, so that its sustainability can be maintained because it is supported by many parties in Surabaya. The spirit of this program is in harmony with the noble Islamic principles. Moreover, this program has a tagline: Go Global, Go Digital, Go Financial, which makes the program participants ready to compete at the international level.
