Abstract

Indonesian children are still experiencing a double burden of malnutrition, both in undernutrition and overnutrition. Based on study, there is an intergenerational effect, such as short condition of parents as a child will affect the next generation’s growth and development and will increase the risk of cognitive delay. This result of this study is expected to help and become a reference for local and national governments in order to manage strategies for handling malnutrition and to achieve national health resilience. This research is descriptive cross-sectional study with total sampling. The study used secondary data of 322 children under 5 years old from  Sungai Raya District Health Center from July-August 2021, originating from 7 unit health centre (posyandu). The data obtained in the form of age, body weight (BW), body length (BL)/height (BH) and classified according to the WHO curve (W/Age, BH/age, BW/BH) then calculate the Z score. The result showed that children under 5 yo in short and very short stature children were 13% and 19%. Children with overweight and obesity based on BW/BH in this study were 7 % and 5 %. In conclusion, there was a double burden malnutrition which exceeds the national average.

Abstract

Background: Hypercholesterolemia is one of the major risk factors for coronary heart disease. Drugs of natural pomegranate peel extract using ethanol can be used as an alternative of simvastatin as standard drugs. Preclinical trials are needed before clinical trials in humans to ensure the efficacy of the drug from the nature. Objective: To compare effectiveness of pomegranate peel extract using ethanol (Punica granatum) with simvastatin for lowering LDL level in hypercholesterolemia white rats (Rattus novergicus). Methods: This study used an experimental research design with pretestposttest control group. We use 27 male hypercholesterolemia wistar strain rats were used as samples. The samples were divided into 3 groups. Group I as a negative control was given DMSO 2% 2ml/300gramBW, group II was given simvastatine 0.18 mg/200gramBB/day, group III was given ethanol extract of pomegranate peel 30mg/200gramBB/day for 15 days. Results: Results of paired t-test showed that the group treated with simvastatin decreased LDL levels significantly. The group treated with ethanol extract of pomegranate peel decreased LDL levels significantly. The group given the ethanol extract did not decrease LDL levels significantly. Conclusion: Extract of pomegranate peel using ethanol is not effective for lowering LDL levels in hypercholesterolemia white rats (Rattus novergicus) compared to simvastatin.

Abstract

Background : E-learning provides an opportunity for students to improve their knowledge by promoting self-directed learning. The aim of this e-learning is to encourage pharmacology active learning among undergraduate students in Faculty of Medicine UII. Objective : The aim of the study is to assess the effectiveness of the e-learning module in pharmacology, and the acceptability and student’s perception about the interactive e-learning module in pharmacology. Methods : This was an observational study, conducted on all medical student in Gastrointestinal module (Module 1) and Endocrine module (Module 2). Students were encouraged to register in website. By administrator approval, student can access to quiz. Another menus in the website after quiz are lectures, videos and semi-animated based CAL (computer assisted learning). Learning achievement were assessed based on module exam in pharmacology section. Feedback questionnaire were distributed to all medical student at the end of module. Results : The student’s access rate for e-learning module quiz in Module 1 is 100% and 35,48% in Module 2. In Module 1 about 75% questions have DMR value >75%. This value are increased than last year (54,5%) In Module 2, 30% questions have DMR value >75%. This value also increased than last year (0%). All students (100%) stated that e-learning in pharmacology modules are usefull. 78% stated that the website are informative and 74% admitted the material easy to access, 89,02% agreed that e-learning increase student’s motivation. Conclusion : Curriculum innovation as e-learning modules considerably was effective enhance student achivement in pharmacology. This innovation also well perceived among the student. All students agrreed that e-learning module were usefull.

Abstract

Sebanyak 74 mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Unhan angkatan 2020/2021 mengisikuesioner Dundee Ready Environment Educational Measurement (DREEM) dan Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ).
