<![CDATA[AbstractIt should be recognized that the local press has the ability is more than just a source of information for the surrounding community. Local press also has the power to shape publish perception through opinions constructed by mass media. Opinions of media on social problem, it could be the response of the community of readers. But there are also, the opinion of the local press, still affected from the culture that embraced by the community. The presence of women in the community who hold East Nusa Tenggara patricidal culture, often also became the spotlight in the opinion of local press. This research takes the title “The Representation of Women in Newspaper (The Critical Discourse Analysis of Rubric Tapale’uk at the Daily Newspaper the Pos Kupang, in Kartini’s day Editions from 2008 to 2012). The question in this research is “how the Rubric Tapale’uk representing women of East Nusa Tenggara in its media ?. Results of this study show the representation of women in the rubric Tapale’uk is as wife and homemaker. However further, every writer in this rubric presents different representation of housewives. Male writers in this rubric, tend to represent women not as a central figure in the text, women often just used only as a complement dressing. While more female writere using text to represent the figure of an intelligent housewife. That figure is not just limited to the housekeeper, but becomes the central figure in the text, who has sense of critical of social problem, dare to break through the culture of patriarchy with many ideas, that are not less on appeal if compared with men.AbstrakHarus diakui bahwa pers lokal memiliki kemampuan lebih dari sekedar menjadi sumber informasi bagi masyarakat sekitarnya. Pers lokal juga memiliki kekuatan untuk membentuk persepsi masyarakat melalui opini-opini yang dibangun oleh oleh media massa tersebut. opini media terhadap satu permasalahan sosial, bisa jadi akan menjadi tanggapan dari masyarakat pembacanya. Namun tak jarang juga, opini pers lokal tersebut, masih terpengaruh dari budaya yang dianut oleh masyarakat sekitar. Keberadaan perempuan dalam masyarakat NTT yang menganut budaya patrilineal, kerap juga menjadi sorotan dalam opini pers lokal. Penelitian ini mengambil judul REPRESENTASI PEREMPUAN DALAM SURAT KABAR (Analisis Wacana Kritis Rubrik Tapale’uk Di Surat Kabar Harian Pos Kupang Edisi hari Kartini sejak tahun 2008 hingga 2012). Hal yang menjadi pertanyaan dalam penelitian ini adalah “Bagaimana Rubrik Tapale’uk SKH Pos Kupang, merepresentasi perempuan NTT dalam kesehariannya? Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa, representasi perempuan dalam Rubrik Tapale’uk adalah sebagai sosok istri dan ibu rumah tangga. Namun lebih lanjut, setiap penulis dalam Rubrik Tapale’uk ini menghadirkan representasi ibu rumah tangga yang berbeda-beda. Penulis laki-laki, cenderung merepresentasikan perempuan bukan sebagai tokoh sentral dalam teks, perempuan kerap hanya dijadikan ”bumbu pelengkap”. Sedangkan penulis perempuan lebih menggunakan teks untuk merepresentasikan sosok ibu rumah tangga yang cerdas. Sosok yang bukan hanya sebatas pengurus rumah tangga saja, tetapi menjadi tokoh sentral yang kritis terhadap permasalahan sosial, berani mendobrak budaya patriarki dengan ide-ide yang tak kalah di banding jika dibanding dengan laki-laki.]]>
