Aktivitas terbaik dihasilkan pada reaksi asetilasi 1,3-dihidroksibenzana menggunakan katalis Zr4+-zeolit alam selama 8 jam yang menghasilkan senyawa target yaitu 2,4-dihidroksiasetofenon sebanyak 35,03%.Natural zeolite is commonly used in the reactions of organic compounds. To obtain high activity and selectivity, modification of natural zeolite in the acylation reaction 1,3-dihydroxybenzene to become an aromatic ketone compound, namely 2,4-dihydroxy acetophenone is required. The modification is done by developing zeolite with a metal. Zirconium metal is a transition metal element that is widely used in catalytic processes as a support and promoter. In this study, the influence of time and characteristics of modified natural zeolite catalysts on the acetylation reaction of 1,3-dihydroxybenzene is analyzed. Effect of time and natural zeolite modified characteristics as cataliyst in acetylation of 1,3-dihidroksibenzena were analyzed. Natural zeolite from Malang activated by treatment with acid and salt as H-natural zeolite catalyst. Preparation of Zr4+-natural zeolit catalyst using ion exchange method with calcination at 400C for 4 hours. Characterization of catalysts include crystallinity using X-ray diffraction, morphology and composition of the metal components using scanning electron microscopy, and the acidity of the catalyst using pyridine IR spectroscopy method. Acetylation reaction process using a batch reactor with reaction time variations 6, 8, and 10 hours. Product analysis using high performance liquid chromatography to determine the concentration and amount of the compounds. Best activity result is 1.3-dihidroksibenzana acetylation reaction using catalysts Zr4+- natural zeolit for 8 hours yielding the target compound, namely 2,4-dihidroksiasetofenon as much as 35.03%.
