Abstract

The most effective way to prevent dental problems, especially cavities, is to brush your teeth. Children must be taught and motivated to perform dental care independently. Children who often brush their teeth used to clean mouths at an earlier age usually maintain this habit for the rest of their lives. The effects of education and early stimulation on children are increasingly recognized and important. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct an educational method research that is the most effective there is knowledge of brushing teeth in early childhood. Dental health education includes lecture methods, screening of films / videos / slides, demonstrations, plays with puppets, and role playing (playing). The purpose of this study was to determine the comparison of the effectiveness of dental health education with the method of role playing, video and puppets in improving tooth brushing skills in early childhood. This research is a quantitative research with quasi-experimental approach method, and data collection from primary data obtained from questionnaires. A sample of 24 children of TK Pinang Masak Jambi and 24 children of kindergarten Khalifah Jambi were taken by total sampling technique with the criteria of sample of early childhood, aged ≥ 4 years and wanted to become respondents. The results of the analysis obtained dental health education by playing a more effective role playing on increasing tooth brushing skills in early childhood is indicated by a significance value at 0.000 (p <0.05) compared to video playback methods, plays with puppets, lectures and demonstrations. It is recommended that dental health workers carry out dental and oral health promotive efforts using the role playing method for early childhood.

Abstract

Background: Dental caries are a major problem of dental and oral health and that have the potential for lifelong disorders. Therefore, dental and oral health can not be ignored especially in early childhood, because dental and oral health contributes to the perfect growth of children. However, the highest prevalence of caries was in the 5-9 year old age group at 92.6%. The purpose of the study was to determine the determinant of dental caries in early childhood in TK Khalifah 2 Jambi Year 2019. Method: This research is descriptive in analytics with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study was all children of Kindergarten (TK) Khalifah 2 Jambi City. The number of 30 people, with sampling techniques using total sampling. Hypothesis testing in this study uses statistical test analysis that is chi-square test. Result: Dental caries is associated with cariogenic food eating habits (p-value 0.001) and dental health measures (p-value 0.017) and is not related to knowledge of dental health (p-value 0.618), and attitudes towards dental health (p-value 0.145). Conclusion: Cariogenic eating habits and brushing behavior are factors that have a relationship with dental caries, where respondents with low brushing behaviors had dental caries 2.6 times compared to respondents with good brushing behavior.

Abstract

Usia remaja merupakan masa penting untuk pembentukan perilaku kesehatan. Akan tetapi, data menunjukkan bahwa lebih dari 20% remaja di Indonesia pernah melakukan perilaku beresiko terhadap kesehatan. Mayoritas perilaku beresiko yang dilakukan adalah merokok, minum alkohol, melakukan hubungan seksual pranikah dan penyalahgunaan narkoba. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektifitas intervensi teknik jurnaling (menulis jurnal) untuk membentuk perilaku positif pada remaja. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dan desain deret waktu selama 3 bulan. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Maret sampai Mei 2022. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari satu kelompok perlakuan sebanyak 78 siswa SMA kelas XI. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa teknik jurnaling efektif dalam membantu remaja membentuk perilaku baru yang lebih positif dari sebelumnya dengan hasil p < 0,001. Semakin positifnya perilaku remaja berpengaruh terhadap menurunnya angka perilaku beresiko pada remaja. Penelitian ini dapat dijadikan sebagai acuan untuk mengembangkan penelitian selanjutnya terkait permasalahan perilaku remaja.
