Abstract

Pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.) is a type of mustard that is quite economical. Currently, the pakcoy plant is used by the community in various dishes. This plant is quite easy to cultivate and only requires a short time of about 3-4 weeks. The aim is to obtain data on the growth response and production of pakcoy plants to the application of liquid organic fertilizer banana peels. Liquid fertilizer is a fertilizer whose basic ingredients are animals and plants that have been undergoes fermentation and the product form is in the form of liquid, one of which is banana peel waste which is used for the manufacture of liquid fertilizer because it contains micro elements N, P and K. Because many people process processed production from bananas which always produce banana peel waste in processing the waste is only disposed of and left to pile up by the community, if not handled quickly it will produce an unpleasant odor so that it will pollute the environment, one alternative is the service team invites socialization and training to the community by processing the banana peel waste into liquid organic fertilizer with the fermentation process tation, so that people can use liquid organic fertilizers instead of using chemical fertilizers that are more expensive for all plantation crops.

Abstract

Oil palm is a plant greedy for water and nutrients that can ultimately reduce soil conditions both from water and nutrients in the soil; for this reason, it is necessary to improve soil conditions. The application of EFB can be one of the solutions to overcoming the problem. This study aims to determine the Influence of Empty Fruit Bunch on improving the Chemical Properties Of Soil Planted By Oil Palm At Supra Matra Abadi Aek Nabara Estate. This research was conducted at Afdeling III Supra Matra AbadiAek Nabara Estate. This research was conducted for five months. This research method used a Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD), which consisted of 2 factors. The first factor was soil depth which consisted of 0-15 cm, 15-30 cm, 30- 60 cm, and 60-90 cm. The second factor is the application of empty fruit bunches, which consists of no EFB application (control) and the application of empty fruit bunches: 370 kg/tree. The results showed that giving empty fruit bunches to oil palm plantations can increase soil fertility. The application of EFB affects the pH values of the soil, Potassium, Magnesium, and Calcium. And the depth of the ground, given the application of EFB, negatively affects soil fertility. This means that if the soil's depth increases, soil fertility tends to decrease as well as it should.

Abstract

Most of Kampung Padang resident is a farmer especially as a oil palm and rubber farmer. In the cultivation of oil palm and rubber, there are still a few villagers from Kampung Padang who plant Mucuna between plants as a ground cover crop or Legume Cover Crop, even though Mucuna has many benefits, especially for suppressing weed growth and improving soil chemical properties. The difficulty of obtaining seeds makes people rarely use Mucuna. Some techniques that can be done to induce flowering in plants are using a growth regulator (ZPT) paclobutrazol. Several research results regarding the use of paclobutrazol have succeeded in shortening the length of plant tendrils. Other techniques that can be used to induce flowering in plants are providing water stress, ringing the plants, and pruning the roots of the plants. The response from the people of the Padang village population was very enthusiastic, seen from the many people who asked questions during the event.

Abstract

Farmers in Sei Baru village manage marginal peatlands for producing the galangal. So far, testing of soil characteristics has never been carried out. Fertilization and culture practices are just based on knowledge from generation to generation, so it is important to study the characteristics of soil chemical properties of the peatlands that have been used for producing galangal. The research was conducted from December 2020 until February 2021 in a galangal plantation-grown by the community in Sei Baru Village, Panai Hilir District, Labuhanbatu Regency. The method used was a free grid survey method at the semi-detailed survey level. The implementation of soil sampling of 5 sample points with a distance of 100 meters in the field using a random method spread over a predetermined area. The results showed that the peat soil planted with galangal in Sei Baru Village had a pH of around 4.542, C-org was 52.18%, organic matter was 89.972%, N-total was 1.418%, C/N was 36.852, P-Bray was 963.41 ppm, and K-total was 0.14. Overall, the chemical properties of the soil in galangal plantations Sei Baru Village, Panai Hilir District, Labuhanbatu Regency are in good condition.to increase its fertility for galangal cultivation, it can be done by increasing the pH and potassium in the soil so that it will become more favorable for growing galangal and can be used as a recommendation for galangal fertilization.
