Abstract

Covid-19 was declared a pandemic since early 2020 causing the learning process to be carried out from home with an online system at all levels of education. This study aims to determine how positive students' perceptions of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic are on online learning at SMK Negeri 2 Binjai. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive research. Data collection techniques using observation, questionnaires, and documentation. This research was conducted in SMK Negeri 2 Binjai. The results showed that: (1) Students already had the basic facilities used to carry out online learning; (2) online learning is very flexible in its implementation and is able to encourage the emergence of independent learning and motivation to be more active in participating in learning; and (3) online learning encourages the emergence of social distancing behavior and minimizes the emergence of large crowds of students so that it is believed to reduce the potential for the spread of Covid-19 in the school environment. Weak supervision of students, lack of strong signal in remote areas, and high internet quota fees are challenges in online learning. Increasing interest in learning, motivation, independence, and being brave in expressing ideas and questions are the advantages of online learning.
