Abstract

This study aims to investigate the influence of perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, perceived novelty and perceived enjoyment on consumer attitude and adoption intention of Samsung Gear VR. The primary data used in this study were collected from 140 respondents who have experienced in operating or using Samsung Gear VR, using a survey method by distributing online structured questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed using path analysis method using SPSS and AMOS software.The results show that perceived ease of use, perceived novelty and perceived enjoyment influence the consumer adoption intention through attitude, while perceived usefulness and perceived enjoyment have direct effects on adoption intention. Among those factors, perceived enjoyment is the most dominant factor that strongly affects both the consumers attitude and adoption intention of Samsung Gear VR. Based on the findings, marketers should improve the aspect of product related to its usefulness, easiness (system), novelty and more focus on enjoyment (features) to enhance the consumer attitude towards intention to adopt Samsung Gear VR.Keywords: Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use, Perceived Novelty, Perceived Enjoyment, Consumer Attitude, Adoption Intention, Wearable Technology, Virtual Reality.

Abstract

Studies on the pattern of authorship and the level of research collaboration have been done by many scientific journals, but the study on the journal Treubia has never been done.The Journal Treubia is an english language journal of the Indo-Australian animal taxonomy.  Established in 1919 by the director of Plantetuin Lands (now botanical garden) named Dr. M. Treub, for the first time this journal discussed only on plant pests. Now, Treubia is an English-language scietific journal focus on biosystematic, ecological, and conservation aspects of terrestrial and aquatic fauna in the Indo-Australian region. This aim of this study is to determine the pattern of the authorship and the level of collaborative research in the journal Treubia during period 2006-2016. The method used in this study is descriptive by using the data from journal article of Treubia, Research Center for Biology-Indonesian Institute of Sciences. Collection and processing data were conducted in March 2017. The results show that during the period 2006-2016,  journal Treubia produced 50 articles.   The most authors are male with 91 (71.1%) of the 128 authors. Furthermore, by country, Indonesia is the biggest contributor with 86 authors (67.19%) and the lowest is Australia, Singapore, and Vietnam each of them with 1 author (0.78%). The document type most highly cited is the journals which has been cited in 1,307 papers, and then newsletter and map which have been cited in 1 paper. The author's collaboration rate is 0.7 with the author's index per article is 2.56. Both of numeral rate and index are the positive criterion for assessing the higher quality of published papers.

Abstract

Nicholas Sparks’ The Best of Me is a novel that tells the story of a love journey between Dawson Cole and Amanda Collier, who is forced to be blocked by Amanda's parents who do not approve of their love because of differences in social class so that in the end they have to separate. However, after being separated for so long they are reunited with different circumstances. The strength of this novel is the moral value of the main character. This study aims to examine the self-determination that exists in the protagonist. In examining this novel, the writers adopt descriptive qualitative research. There two forms of self-determination. They are autonomous motivation and controlled motivation. The study is focused only on the autonomous motivation of the protagonist’s self determination in the novel. Two aspects are found as the protagonist’s autonomous motivation. These aspects happen to the protagonist’s love story in the novel. The first is loyalty and the second firmness of love. The protagonist shows his self-determination by means of two aspects.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the protagonist’s motivation in Rachael Lippincott et. al.’s novel Five Feet Apart. This study adopts qualitative method to acquire and describe the data about the protagonist’s motivations in the novel. The discussion is divided into two sub topics concerned to the aspects of the analysis. There are two aspects of the protagonist’s motivation described in the novel. The first aspect is focused on recovery and familly’s happiness. Then, the second is about the factors which arouse the motivation. It is found in the study that the protagonist’s motivation and the factors to arouse the motivation lead to the protagonist’s success to recover and return to live with her family together.

Abstract

This study discusses the keyword-based model in learning English to for adult learners who in fact have little free time due to various activities but require the ability to communicate in English. Researchers are triggered to make this model because of their weakness in English, so they often have problems communicating with foreign partners. The research method adopted in this study is a qualitative method with descriptive analysis. "Descriptive analysis is an analysis used to analyze data by describing the data that has been collected as it is without intending to make conclusions that apply to the public or generalizations." (Sugiono. 2016). The instrument used for data collection in this study is a questionnaire. The model's effectiveness test is also carried out by looking at the increase or decrease in the respondents' English understanding of English language. The respondents of this study are lecturers and officers at the Islamic University of North Sumatra which are determined using purposive sampling. The findings of this study is an effective and efficient keyword-based model for adult learners because with a keyword-based model, learners do not need a long time to spend in learning English, so it does not cost too much considering they have little free time.

Abstract

Literary psychology gives an important role to the analysis of psychological development of characterization in literary works.  In literary psychology, conflict is an upheaval among the id, ego, and superego. This study aims to describe the protagonist’s personality, focused on id, ego, and superego in the novel of Dilan Dia Adalah Dilanku Tahun 1990 by  Pidi  Baiq's. Personality is the characteristic patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that make a person unique. It is believed that personality arises from within the individual and remains fairly consistent throughout life. In Freud's psychoanalytic theory, the id is the primitive and instinctual part of the mind that contains sexual and aggressive drives and hidden memories, the super-ego operates as a moral conscience, and the ego is the realistic part that mediates between the desires of the id and the super-ego. The research is done by descriptive qualitative method by collecting and selecting the data from the novel. The additional sources of data are taken from respective references. The results show that the three parts of personality: id, ego, and superego are found in the personality of the protagonist and the elements of the psychic or personality are dominated by id and ego.

Abstract

This study deals with the Ainun’s marital commitment in Habibie’s Novel Habibie Ainun. The novel is taken from the true story of the author. In this novel, Ainun teaches readers how to carry out their obligations as a good wife and be able to take care of children and home with patience and faithfulness. The marital commitment contained in this novel is Ainun’s way of becoming a wife. The analysis is based on the theory of Marital Commitment by Adams Jones. They explain there are three commitments. They are personal, mental and structural commitments. In completing the analysis, the study uses descriptive qualitative method. The result of this study is presented in the form of description. In the analysis, it is shown that Ainun proves her personal and mental commitments in the novel. She always prioritizes her family. She is also described as a faithful companion. She always accompanies her husband in every up and down moments. These descriptions are as her personal commitment in her marriage. Then, she is portrayed as a religious woman who always cares about the welfare of the nation. Thus, this leads us that Ainun shows her mental commitment. But, structural commitment cannot be shown in the novel. All in all, the novel may imply a moral lesson about how to build a solid commitment in a marriage.

Abstract

The Medan City Land Office was established by the Medan City Government which has the main task of carrying out community affairs, so Non Civil Servants (Honorer) are directly handled by government agencies in the Medan City area, so they work with companies which are at the Medan City Land Office which is to help the community.Meanwhile, for temporary employees, the handling starts from recruitment, payment of honorary salaries, with their dismissal being the authority and responsibility of the government (central and regional) where they work. national, regional and sectoral.decision support system (DSS) to overcome these problems, the most appropriate is using the MOORA (Multi-Objective Optimization on The Basis of Ratio Analysis) method used to determine the quality of the honorary employee by looking at the elements that affect a problem with good quality.The results in this study are a decision support system for the assessment of non-civil servants using the MOORA method at the Medan city land office which can take into account all the criteria, there is a result that the best value that has the highest alternative is considered the best, namely Rina Erviana so that the largest optimization value is -206.25

Abstract

Menstruation is periodic and cyclical bleeding from the uterus accompanied by the release (desquamation) of the endometrium. Menstrual bleeding is the result of a complex interaction involving the hormonal system with the body's organs, namely the hypothalamus, pituitary, ovaries and uterus. Every woman experiences menstruation with a different cycle. The cause of irregular menstruation is from genetics and from a bad lifestyle. The purpose of this paper is to provide health education between brainstorming methods and simulation games to increase knowledge about menstruation. Participants in the Health education were 66 grade X students at SMA Negeri Beringin. In the implementation of activities using an instrument (questionnaire) to collect data. related to increasing knowledge about menstruation. The conclusion of this activity is that health education using simulation game and brain storming methods can increase adolescent knowledge about menstruation in class X students at SMA Negeri Beringin.

Abstract

Kegiatan workshop yang dilaksanakan di Desa Bobojong bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi kepada guru-guru pendidik anak usia dini mengenai pembelajaran project based learning, dengan harapan guru mampu memberikan pembelajaran sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan tahapan perkembangan anak. Untuk menentukan pembelajaran yang memenuhi kebutuhan anak guru harus memiliki metode yang bervariasi sehingga anak menikmati proses pembelajaran dengan antusias dan menyenangkan. Disamping hal tersebut masa transisi dari pandemi hingga andemi ini menjadi tantangan bagi pendidik untuk melakukan kegiatan pembelajaran yang normal. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan workshop ini secara luring. Pendidik mendapatkan materi secara menyeluruh tentang Project Based Learning dan dilengkapi dengan praktek. Hasil kegiatan ini berupa pemahaman para pendidik dalam merancang Project Based Learning dan mengimplementasikannya dengan sesuai. Pembinaan program studi magister paud untuk membina lembaga paud yang membutuhkan pengembangan lebih lanjut yaitu program kegiatan pendampingan.
