Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a dangerous disease with prevalence in Indonesia, including South Sulawesi, until now it has reached 3.4% of the total population. Prediabetes is an early condition for diabetes where blood glucose levels are above normal levels. One of the factors that are most closely related to the incidence of prediabetes is obesity which is also a problem currently faced at the age of children and adolescents. One way to detect a disturbance in glucose metabolism is the Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (TTGO).Objective: This study aims to determine the incidence of prediabetes in obese students. Methods: The study design was analytical descriptive, analyzing the test variables of OGTT as a prediabetes screening in the obese. The population was all active students of Megarezky University who were obese obtained by purposive sampling technique. Results: Based on the research result of 40 respondents, after the measured levels of GDP and two-hour glucose levels after oral glucose administration (postprandial), obtained a mean grade of respondents OGTT was 120,45 mg/dl and 8 (20%) of whom had an abnormal OGTT level ( 140-199 mg/dl). Conclusion: It reveals that the eight respondents experienced impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) and prediabetes. Obese people should begin to keep a balance between intake and energy expended to avoid Diabetes Mellitus.

Abstract

Pain is one of the complaints felt by the elderly when doing activities, especially the joint area. Stretching can restore muscle flexibility thereby reducing the sensation of pain. This activity aims to reduce pain in the joints, increase the range of motion of the joints so as to facilitate the mobilization of the elderly, increase the strength of the elderly, prevent contractures in the joints that are often experienced by the elderly. The method applied in this activity is to train dynamic-active stretching preceded by checking vital signs, measuring range of motion, pain intensity using VAS, and muscle strength. The result is stretching increases the range of motion, decreases the intensity of pain, increases muscle strength, so it can be concluded that streching is done 3-4 times a week and regularly will have a positive influence on the lives of the elderly to avoid physical mobilization disorders.

Abstract

Cardiovascular disease was a disease with impaired function of the heart and blood vessels. Cardiovascular disease was more common in women. Postmenopausal women have a higher risk of cardiovascular disease than premenopausal women. This is because postmenopausal women lack the hormone estrogenin regulating lipid metabolism factors. Decreased production of the hormone estrogen will cause changes in the lipid profile in the blood. Several studies have shown that assessment with the Atherogenic Index (IA) is a good predictor of cardiovascular disease. The atherogenic index was obtained by calculating the TG/HDL-C log. This assessment proved to be more sensitive in assessing the risk of cardiovascular disease compared to the respective lipid profile calculations. This study aimed to compare the profile of the Atherogenic Index in premenopausal women with menopause. This research used the Cross-Sectional Study research method which was presented in the form of data, tables, and narratives. The study results on each 40 menopausal and premenopausal women respectively showed that the comparison value of the atherogenic index in the two categories of subjects was <0.05 (0.00). This showed that there is a significant difference in the mean atherogenic index between postmenopausal and premenopausal women.

Abstract

Fatigue is one of the events that triggers injury to badminton players/athletes when playing or after playing, so that by doing physical activity (exercise) can improve fitness and reduce and maintain blood glucose levels to stay within the normal range through the energy used when playing / exercising. Knowing the right carbohydrate (energy) needs and the condition of blood glucose levels can prevent excessive fatigue when playing and after playing. To determine changes in blood glucose values during (GDS) on badminton players in Makassar City. The research method used was quasi-experimental using the One Group Pretest-Posttest design. This research was conducted on 6-15 February 2023 at a sports hall (GOR) in Makassar consisting of 22 respondents in the intervention group (playing badminton) using single mode (1vs1) 2 sets system (per 21 points). It can be concluded that there is a change in the form of a decrease in blood glucose values (GDS) for badminton players in the city of Makassar, an average decrease of 12 mg/dl. The suggestion from this study is that it is proven that by playing badminton using single mode (1vs1) a 2-set system (per 21 points) there can be a change in the GDS value for badminton players on average decreasing by 12 mg/dl. So this can be a way for those who want to lower blood glucose levels.
