Abstract

The flow velocity and suspended sediment concentration are important parameters of sediment transport mechanisms, especially for agradation and degradation problems. The centrifugal force at the bend channels will increased flow velocity at the outer bank of the bend. It is of course also affects the distribution of flow velocity toward the outside and the inside of the bend channels. The change of the velocity distribution  it is very possible also changes the distribution of suspended sediment concentration. In this paper will discuss the velocity distribution profile and distribution of sediment concentration in the bend flow. This research was conducted at Mataram Irrigation Channel Yogyakarta. The channel rectangular in shape and made of masonry with angle bend 580. Measuring the flow velocity used Propeller currentmeter and  sediment concentration used Opcon Probe. Measuring flow velocity and sediment concentration conducted simultaneously for each measurement point.The results showed that due to the centrifugal force in bend flow, flow velocity distribution and sediment concentration distribution undergoing significant change the outside and the inside of the bend. In general, the distribution of flow velocity toward the outerbank of the bend has increased and the distribution suspended  sediment concentration has decrease  and the opposite occurs innerbank of the bend. A low velocity on the inner bank of the channel bend causes larger grains of sediment that settles and potentially silting.

Abstract

The change in channel dimension has a great effect on the flow hydraulic parameters. Likewise, the angle and radius of the bend are not the same will also affect the concentration of suspended sediment flow. To determine the effect of angle and radius of the bend, the measurement of susupended sediment concentration was done at 4 (four) location in Mataram irrigation channel curve. The four locations describe 2 channels having relatively the same angle but having different radius, and 2 (two) channels having the same relative radius but having different angles. Measurement of suspended sediment concentration in tranversal direction is done some depth point used by opcon probe. The results of the research for different angle of bend shows that from the interance to the end of the channel bend so the trend of suspended sediment concentration value are decreases. After the end of the channel bend started there is no more the angle influenced, the trend value of suspended sediment concentration are constant. As for the different radius, the value of suspended sediment concentration is still relatively the same and there is no change significantly. This shows that the relation or influence between the length of the radius of the bend with the value of the suspended sediment concentration is not visible

Abstract

Batang Agam River is a river that flows along Bukittinggi City, Agam Regency, Fifty Cities Regency, Tanah Datar Regency, Payakumbuh City and empties into the Batang Sinamar River. The Batang Agam River, which crosses the residential area, is mostly used for agriculture, fisheries, tourism, mining and other activities. Community activities in the area of the Batang Agam River have resulted in a decrease in the function of the river which is characterized by narrowing, silting and pollution of the river. In addition, it is influenced by the ever-changing river water discharge, land conditions and changes that occur in the river channel. In addition, the negative behavior of the community and all their activities around the river basin also triggers damage to the river. This research was conducted to determine the value of land erosivity towards changes in land use area in the Batang Agam watershed, in this study using land cover in 2010, 2014, and 2019 using the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model and manual calculations were carried out using the USLE method as ratio. The analysis consists of four processes, namely watershed delineation, formation of a Hydrologic Response Unit (HRU), formation of climatological data, and finally the simulation process. The results of the HRU analysis showed that the Batang Agam watershed became 7 sub-watersheds, the dominant HRU was primary forest. In the case of Batang Agam, it was found that the level of erosion hazard was in the light category and the erosion value decreased in each review year.
