Abstract

PT. XYZ is a company engaged in manufacturing shoes. Work line at PT. XYZ have two varies cause many differences. The purpose of this study is to standardize the existing work line on PT.XYZ with the same number of people in the work line. The research was done by getting the raw time of shoes, shoe making sequence, production capacity, and working hours. Determination of the number of operators is done by line balancing in the hope that the number of people selected can have the desired line balance variance. Layout arrangements are required to support the selection of proposed work line. The results of the analysis show that the number of operators is 47 people with line balance variance of 92%. The total capacity that can be obtained with 47 people is 69613 pairs, greater than the current total production of 69493. The number of required operators reduced 40 people compared with the current conditions. The required investment cost is Rp. 1,849,070,000

Abstract

Schneider Electric Manufacturing Batam is a company in an electrical field that has an issue about inventory control; especially Stock L. Stock L is a stock of raw materials that are in the production area. This research heads on searching the optimal value of Stock L as the first step to reduce the causes and determine the suitable days of inventory for PEL. Finished goods that are on PEL control are classified into their families and the optimal value of Stock L is obtained using base stock level method and company calculation. Both these methods are not significantly different from its Two Sample T-Test result. Using base stock level, the value of Stock L can be reduced about 60.59% while using company calculation, the reduction of Stock L is about 63.42%. The suitable DIN for PEL is about 3 days.

Abstract

PT. X is a company engaged in the field of shipping by providing services in the form of container rental and send the container to the ship owned by the company. The loading and unloading of containers from aboard requires a document called Unloading Order, containing the status, quantity, and destination of the depot from the unloaded container. The distribution of empty containers is currently only done based on estimates so that there is repositioning from one depot to another because it does not have the required containers. The purpose of the research is to find the minimum inventory value that can be used as a reference to the distribution of empty containers to the depots so as to reduce the repositioning. The repositioning cost incurred by the company in 2016 is Rp 284.000.000,00 only for fuel expenditure. The minimum inventory values search using simulation methods in Excel. The simulation is an improvement model of the current condition. The model of improvement performed is the empty container distribution is done based on the difference between the current inventory amount and the minimum inventory value which is the decision variable. In addition, repositioning is also done if the depot has inventory amount below minimum inventory value or above depot capacity. Improved models can eliminate repositioning due to lack of containers. The minimum inventory value obtained from the simulation for Depot 4 has an average of 107 units, Depot 8 is 50 units, and Depot Japfa is 266 units. The average value is a combination of the three empty container grades, A, B, and C. The minimum inventory values obtained from the simulation are then put into Unloading Order to facilitate the distribution of empty containers.

Abstract

Optimization models are increasingly developed for planning and scheduling in manufacturing of natural resources. However, the uncertainty of material from natural resources makes it more difficult to develop a model.  In this paper, we concern about the cost of dry timber preparation for finishing process in a wood-board manufacturer. Based on characteristics of the material and wood-board production process, we develop two models to minimize transportation and drying cost of wood supply. The models consider the capacity of facilities, distances among facilities, and timber specification-based drying periods. The model is solved using linear programming, result in drying allocation of kiln dry’s chambers that gives the minimum cost of the process. A sensitivity analysis is conducted to demonstrate the effect of variation of internal capacity and external capacity to the objective function value. The results show that the total cost is more sensitive to the variation of the external capacity of kiln dry than the variation of the internal capacity.

Abstract

Research on inventory models has been conducted intensively, including the model for stochastic demand. However, inventory models for stochastic demand are not easy to solve using an exact algorithm. In this paper, we develop a Monte Carlo simulation method to solve inventory problems with stochastic and intermittent demand. Simulation is conducted to evaluate continuous and periodic review policies. The simulation models are optimized using the evolutionary algorithm. The models are applied to data from one bicycle shop in Indonesia for five different items. The result shows that the economic order quantity (R,Q) policy is better than the (s,S) policy for two items and it is better than the (S,T) policy for three items.

Abstract

Revolusi industri berdampak besar pada kemajuan dari kehidupan manusia. Saat ini, industri konstruksi sedang mengalami transformasi drastis karena kemajuan teknologi yang didukung dengan revolusi industri keempat. Salah satu bentuk penerepan konstruksi 4.0 adalah internet of things. Adopsi aplikasi internet of things memiliki tantangan – tantangan dalam prosesnya.
