Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate empirically the influence of personality traits to workplace deviant behavior among civil servants in Pekanbaru, Indonesia. Using cross-sectional survey method and stratified proportionate random sampling data were conducted to 263 civil servants from various departments and Agencies in Pekanbaru by using questionnaires. The data analyzed using Partial Least Square (PLS). The findings emphasize the importance of taking personality traits into consideration during employee recruitment processes to minimize workplace deviant behavior. Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship that exists between openness to experience (one of the personality traits) and perceptions of organizational politics to workplace deviant behavior. Research was conducted by collecting 263 responses from the civil servants in Pekanbaru, Riau. Applying the latest PLS 3.0 analysis tools the results of this research identified positive correlation between openness to experience and perception of the political organization to workplace deviant behavior. The perception of the organization politics has managed to moderate the relationship between openness to experience deviant behavior in the workplace.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menyelidiki secara empiris pengaruh ciri-ciri kepribadian dari big five personality kepada penyimpangan perilaku di tempat kerja dikalangan pegawai negeri yang ada di Kota Pekanbaru, Indonesia. Sebuah survei dengan menggunakan cross-sectional data dilakukan kepada 263 PNS dari berbagai kantor dan instansi di Pekanbaru dengan menggunakan kuesioner. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan Smart PLS 3 digunakan untuk pengolahan data. Temuan menegaskan pentingnya mengambil ciri-ciri kepribadian menjadi pertimbangan selama proses perekrutan pegawai untuk meminimalkan penyimpangan perilaku di tempat kerja. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi pada peran penting dari ciri-ciri kepribadian pekerja dalam meminimalkan penyimpangan perilaku di tempat kerja.
