Abstract

This research aims to determine the resistance of variance of soybean (Glycine max L) varieties to Lamprosema indicata in the field. This research was conducted in Banyumas Village, Stabat sub-district, Langkat Regency, North of Sumatra, from March 2019 until May 2019. This research used by a descriptive method with observational techniques consisting of 15 plots and 225 sample plants. The results of the study showed the resistance and intensity of attacks larvae of L. indicataon leaf of each variety, namely the Dena (average of 10.33 larvae and 24%); followed by Dega consists of 8.17 larvae and 18%, then Detap showed of 6.00 larvae which 12%. Meanwhile, Devon (7.83 larvae and 14%) and Anjasmoro with an average of 7.67 larvae and 13%.Variety of soybean of Data was resilience of attack of L. indicate in the field, while Dena is very susceptible to attack of L. indicate.

Abstract

A. rolfsii (Curzi) is a cosmopolitan fungus which infects a large varieties of plants, especially the young one. This study was aimed to test the effectivity of 5 types of plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) in suppressing the growth of Athelia rolfsii (Curzi) and to obtain the most effective type of PGPR for controlling disease severity and incidence A. rolfsii. This research was conducted at Plant Disease Laboratory and at the screen house at Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan from March 2017 until August 2017. The research used by non Factorial Randomized Block Design with 7 treatment combinations and 4 replications: R0 (Control), R1 (A. rolfsii), R2 (A. rolfsii+Aeromonas hydrophila), R3 (A. rolfsii+Burkholderia cepacia), R4 (A. rolfsii+Serratia ficaria), R5 (A. rolfsii+Pantoea spp. 2), R6 (A. rolfsii+Vibrio alginolyticus). The results showed that the application of B. cepacia, Pantoea spp. 2, and V. Alginolyticus could suppress the growth of A. rolfsii, with disease incidence was 0.00 % for treatments of B. cepacia, Pantoea spp. 2, and V. alginolyticus compared to the treatment (only A. rolfsii), which was 100.00 %. The disease severity of treatments of B. cepacia, Pantoea spp. 2, and V. alginolyticus was 0.00 % compared to the treatment (only A. rolfsii), which was 50.00 %.

Abstract

Abstract

Yellow rice stem borer (YRSB), Scirpophaga incertulas Walker, often causes decreased of rice production. One of the pest controlling of YRSB used based on the concept of IPC (integrated Pest Control) was biological control using egg parasitoids. The purpose of this research was to find out the inventory and potential of parasitoids of eggs in yellow rice stem borer (S. incertulas) on rice cultivation at 3 locations (Kuala Gunung Village, Cahaya Pardomuan Village, and Air Hitam Village) in Lima Puluh Sub-District, Batubara Regency, Northern Sumatra. The study used a survey method by taking samples of groups of eggs by purposive sampling on rice cultivation. Egg clusters are kept for several days until the parasitoids appear. Parasitoid that appeared was preserved in a bottle containing 70% alcohol, then identification was carried out at the Pest Laboratory of Departmemt of Agrotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara. This research was conducted from March to September 2019. The results obtained by 3 Parasitoid families were identified, such as Eulophidae, Scelionidae, and Trichogrammatidae. Parasitoid level and parasitoid dominance index were higher in the non-insecticide treatment compared to the insecticide treatment. The highest parasitic rate (41.78%) of the Eulophidae family and the lowest (0.00%) of the Trichogrammatidae family. The highest parasitoid dominance index (0.67) was found in the Eulophidae family and lowest (0) in the Trichogrammatidae family. The distribution pattern of the Eulophidae family was grouped, the Trichogrammatidae family was regular while the Scelionidae family was different for each village. Our prediction, the research will be useful for future. Keywords: Rice, Scirpophaga incertulas, parasitoid, parasitation Level, dominance, distribution pattern.
