Abstract

This research aim was to determine the effect of Problem Based Learning on metacognition skills and student learning outcomes. The research design used was a non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The research samples were the students of SMAN 1 Gedong Tataan class X IPA 1 and X IPA 4 amounted of 54 students that were selected through cluster random sampling technique. Data on metacognition skills were obtained using questionnaires which analyzed descriptively while data on learning outcome from pretest and posttest which analyzed by Independent Sampel t-test at 5% confidence level. The results showed that metacognition skills of the experimental class differ significantly from the control class. The average N-gain in the experimental class was 0,64 while in the control class was 0,31. So it can be concluded that Problem Based Learning has an effect on increasing metacognition skills and learning outcomes of students. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan pengaruh Problem Based Learning terhadap keterampilan metakognisi dan hasil belajar siswa. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa SMA Negeri 1 Gedong Tataan kelas X IPA 1 dan X IPA 4 yang berjumlah 54 siswa dan dipilih dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Data keterampilan metakognisi diperoleh menggunakan angket yang dianalisis secara deskriptif sedangkan data hasil belajar menggunakan nilai pretest dan posttest yang dianalisis dengan uji Independent Sampel t-test pada tarap kepercayaan 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan metakognisi pada kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol. Hasil belajar kognitif kelas eksperimen berbeda signifikan dengan kelas kontrol. Rata-rata N-gain pada kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,64 sedangkan pada kelas kontrol sebesar 0,31. Jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa Problem Based Learning berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan keterampilan metakognisi dan hasil belajar siswa.Kata kunci: hasil belajar, keterampilan metakognisi, problem based learning
