Abstract

The purpose of the study was to know the influence of using problem based learning on students critical thinking ability and material mastery of students on the subject of environmental management. Samples of the study were the students of class VII E and VII F, which selected by cluster random sampling technique. The quantitative data was obtained from pretest, posstest that was statistically analyzed by U-test. The qualitative data was students activity and critical thinking ability, that was analyzed descriptively. The result showed that the activities of cooperation with friends, discussion activities, thinking ability were increase with the average value of n-gain 32,57%. So, it can be concluded that PBL model has significant influence on students critical thinking ability.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran PBL terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi pokok pengelolaan lingkungan. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII E dan VII F yang dipilih secara acak dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Data kuantitatif diperoleh dari nilai pretes, postes dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan uji U. Data kualitatif berupa aktivitas belajar dan angket tanggapan siswa yang dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas bekerjasama dengan teman, melakukan kegiatan diskusi, mempresentasikan hasil diskusi kelompok mengalami peningkatan. Hasil kemampuan berpikir kritis juga mengalami peningkatan sebesar 32,57%. Dengan demikian, pembelajaran menggunakan model PBL berpengaruh dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa.Kata kunci : aktivitas belajar siswa, kemampuan berpikir kritis, pengelolaan lingkungan, problem based learning
