Abstract

The aim of this study is  to determine the improvement of students' critical thinking skills in trigonometry courses whose learning uses trigonometric teaching materials with knisley mathematical models compared to those that do not use teaching materials. The method used in this study is quasi-experimental with a sample of fourth semester students. The instrument used in this study is a test of critical thinking skills as much as 5. Based on the results of the data analysis, it can be concluded that the improvement of students' critical thinking skills in learning using trigonometric teaching materials with knisley mathematical models is better than those who do not use teaching materials

Abstract

This study is experimental research that aims to know about the influence Adversity Quotient (AQ) of the achievement students’ mathematical critical thinking ability. The population of this study is the students of Junior High School in Cimahi City, West Java, Indonesia; while the sample is 79 students selected purposively. The instruments of this study are tests and non-tests. They are based on the assessment of good characteristics towards students' mathematical critical thinking abilities, while the non-test instrument is based on the assessment of good characteristics towards AQ. The results show that: (1) AQ gives positive influence to the achievement students’ mathematical critical thinking ability with the influence of 61%, while the rest of it (39%) is influenced by other factors outside AQ; (2) there are differences in achievement in the students’ mathematical critical thinking ability based on AQ level (climber, camper, quitter).

Abstract

Kemampuan matematis adalah kemampuan untuk menghadapi permasalahan, baik dalam matematika maupun kehidupan nyata. Kemampuan matematis terdiri dari Penalaran matematis, komunikasi matematis, pemecahan masalah, pemahaman konsep, pemahaman matematis, berpikir kreatif dan berpikir kritis. Dalam aspek pemecahan masalah matematika diperlukan pemikiran-pemikiran kreatif dalam merumuskan dan menyelesaikan model atau perencanaan pemecahan masalah. Salah satu materi yang dapat mendorong siswa untuk berpikir kreatif yaitu SPLDV, siswa dituntut untuk menuangkan ide-ide kreatifnya, karena penyelesaian soal SPLDV banyak cara metode yang dapat  digunakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis terhadap siswa MTs Kelas VIII melalui tugas Problem Posing pada materi SPLDV. Sedangkan yang menjadi sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 6 orang siswa yang terdiri dari 2 orang siswa berkemampuan tinggi, 2 orang siswa berkemampuan sedang, dan 2 orang berkemampuan rendah. Segala sesuatu yang akan diukur diantaranya tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis yang berdasarkan indikator-indikatornya sebanyak 5 soal berbentuk essay. Berdasarkan hasil analisa data diperoleh pola Persentase penyelesaian masalah seluruh subjek penelitian tiap indikator kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematik yaitu : (1) kelancaran (Fluency) 64,63% ; (2) Kelenturan (Flexibility) 44,20% ; (3) Keaslian/ orisinalitas (Originality) 48,58% ; (4) Elaborasi (Elaboration) 62,50%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the understanding abilities of mathematics students in solving algebraic problems based on how to answer them. The study sample consisted of 46 odd semester students of class 2018 in one of the private universities (PTS), Cimahi. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method that seeks to describe the completion analysis of students in answering algebraic questions. Data processing uses the correct percentage of student answers. The results of this study found that there were still many mathematical students who were mistaken in solving algebraic problems so that students' comprehension skills were still at a low level (50.54%) with indicators identifying the characteristics of a concept and recognizing the conditions that determine a concept that students still cannot master and overall because students do not understand the concept of algebra in depth, which is due to the meaninglessness of the learning process that is passed.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the mistakes made by students and analyze the factors that cause student errors in completing in SPLDV material. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. This research took place in the eighth grade Al Barry MTs cikalong wetan in the 2018/2019 academic year. The population of this study was all eighth grade students of junior high / MTs in the western Bandung regency who had studied SPLDV material. The research subjects were class VIII A students at MTs Al Barry cikalong wetan. Data collection techniques using test and interview methods. The steps of analysis include data reduction, data presentation, and verification. Based on the results of data analysis it can be concluded that in solving SPLDV problems making mistakes; (1) Concept errors, (2) errors in understanding questions, (3) calculation errors. The causative factor is the students' understanding ability which is low in mastering the concept, lack of training in completing varied questions, hurrying and not being careful in solving problems.
