Abstract

News is construction from social reality. The same fact and/or issue can be published in different frame in different media. In news processing, media is influenced by internal and external factors.This research aims to know how the news frame about Persebaya Surabaya fans chaos September 4th, 2006, in Jawa Pos newspaper. This research use two kinds of data sources. First is the news and second is interview with sport desk in Jawa Pos newsroom. The interview is being held in order to confirm the result of news analysis.The news than analyse with frame method. The result is Jawa Pos frame is Persebaya Surabaya does not deserve to be punished in this case. The supporters must take responsibility in this chaos.The Jawa Pos newsroom said that they have interest to protect Persebaya from punishment. Because, if Persebaya is being punished, Jawa Pos lost the news resources that can attract many readers. Meanwhile, Jawa Pos show their critical view for supporters in order to educate the public. Abstract

Abstract: Social media affect communication technicians and managerial roles in Public Relations (PR). This study observes PR managerial role in PT PLN Persero in the policy making of social media use for the company’s internal environment. This research use interviews, document studies, and observation as data collection techniques. The results show that the role of communicating the policy is more dominant than the managerial role. Factors influencing PR managerial role are organization’s recognition on the PR role and function in the organization, the number of personnel in the PR department, and the authority overlap within the organization. Abstrak: Media sosial memengaruhi praktek Public Relations (PR) sebagai teknisi komunikasi dan manajerial. Penelitian ini membahas peran manajerial PR d PT PLN Persero dalam penyusunan kebijakan penggunaan media sosial untuk lingkungan internal perusahaan. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data wawancara, studi dokumen, dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Bidang Komunikasi Korporat PT PLN Persero sudah melaksanakan peran manajerial walaupun masih didominasi peran mengomunikasikan kebijakan. Peran manajerial PR dipengaruhi oleh pemahaman dan pengakuan formal organisasi terhadap peran dan fungsi PR dalam organisasi, jumlah personel di departemen PR, dan tumpang tindih kewenangan dengan bidang kerja lain dalam organisasi.

Abstract

The publishing of sports daily newspaper in Indonesia begins to show significant progress. In the past two years, two sports daily newspapers namely Harian Bola and SuperBall appeared. Both these daily newspapers followed the sports daily newspaper TopSkor who was published earlier. Sports daily newspapers in Indonesia currently exist in the middle of the condition when the number of newspapers readers is decreasing. However, sport daily newspapers can also have a good prospect if it is managed properly. This paper provides a preliminary review of the three sports daily newspapers in Indonesia namely TopSkor, Harian Bola, and SuperBall. The focus is on the content, structure, behavior, and performance or S-C-P (structure-conduct-performance). In this review, the author provides recommendations about what should be done by the sports daily newspapers. In the conclusion, the author gives recommendations on further studies which can be done regarding to sports daily newspapers in Indonesia. Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to know how The Ministry of Youth and Sports Republic of Indonesia (Kemenpora RI) and Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) in FIFA suspension for Indonesia caseThe starting point of this research is crisis could hit every organization. In crisis situation, organization should release official statement to give explanation to public and to save their images. Official statement came from framing process. This research use frame model from Robert N Entman as tools for analysis. The data resources is official statement from Kemenpora RI and PSSI in period April 2015-May 2016. The results are : in define problem and defining causes, both parties are blaming each others. In making moral judgement, both organizations show up their effort to find solution and blaming others with example from football governance in another countires. In treatment recomendation, PSSI focus on the Indonesia national football team, and Kemenpora RI focus on reparation for football managemeng in Indonesia.Keywords : crisis communication, frame analysis, sport communication, sport public relations

Abstract

power beyond the country's sovereignty. FIFA will impose sanctions for member states, when the country's government to intervene against football. Instead, FIFA can also press the government of a country to ensure it does not intervene.The majority of the discussion regarding the powers of FIFA more dominant from the perspective of law. This paper offers a conceptual discussion from the viewpoint of science communication. The selected viewpoint is critical approach to organizational communication. Using the concept of Stan Deetz, concluded that what FIFA is a form of colonization of an organization against the parties that are outside the organization. Abstract

This research analyzed the use of official media of the Indonesia football club used by the fans. The context of official media is the official club website and official social media account of the club. The football club needs to manage the official media (especially in the internet platform) to build interaction and relationships with its fans. An engaging interaction and relationship with fans will strengthen the fans' loyalty to the club. This research used qualitative methods, with an interview in Focus Group Discussion (FGD) format as the data collecting technique. The informants were the university student aged 18-21 years old and the fans of PS Sleman (written with PSS hereafter) football club. The number of participants was eight. FGD held in May 2017, when in that year, PSS became the only Liga 2 contestant that had a verified Twitter account. Results showed that although the informants used the PSS official media, they were unsatisfied because the PSS official media lacked interactivity, updating information, and the completeness of the information. To fulfill their expectations, informants use the unofficial media, usually the fans-driven media. For informants, the unofficial media performance was much more significant than the PSS official media

Abstract

There was uncertainty in Hajj 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Before the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's government announced the limitation of Hajj 2020, several countries including Indonesia has decided not to cancel the hajj trip. In dealing with uncertain information, the public needs valid information because uncertainty leads to speculations. In this situation, the media has a vital role in giving valid and verified information. This article aims to know how Indonesia media editorial policy in hajj 2020 news coverage. The editorial policy consists of the news theme, news sources, and news reporting technique. The data collection use interview with five informants from different media. The results before the official announcement, media deliver the news about the future of Hajj 2020 and the Indonesian government plan in dealing with the situation. After the official announcement both from Indonesia and Saudi Arabia gov’t, the media deliver information about the procedure to refund the hajj fee. News sources are the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia, pilgrims, and travel agencies, and umrah. News reporting techniques use teleconference, citing information from authority's official websites, and citing news from other news agencies.

Abstract

New media and social media have changed the practice of public relations. One area that changed is crisis communication. Because of these new technologies, crisis can be more complex. The pace of information, the uncertainty, and the rumors, are increasing. Public relations practitioners should include the new media and social media use in their crisis communication plan. Before doing that, public relations practitioners should change their mindset about social media and new media. The first part of this article contains introduction that describe the importance of communication in crisis management and the importance of social media and new media use in crisis communication. The second part is literature review, that consist of two themes: the concept about crisis communication; and crisis communication in the new media and social media era. The third part describes two cases from Indonesian corporation when they used social media and new media in crisis communication. Each cases explain the success story and the failed story in social media and new media use.

Abstract

Di banyak negara, perspektif Barat masih mendominasi pendidikan Kehumasan. Pada faktanya, perspektif Barat ini tidak selalu sesuai untuk diaplikasikan di negara atau wilayah yang memiliki perbedaan budaya. Dominasi Barat ini terjadi karena kurangnya kajian mengenai Humas yang menggunakan perspektif selain Barat. Pada akademisi memandang perlunya pengembangan perspektif lain dalam pendidikan Kehumasan. Salah satu perspektif yang dapat memanfaatkan kesempatan ini adalah perspektif Islam. Bagian awal tulisan ini menjelaskan mengenai dominasi Amerika Serikat dalam pendidikan Kehumasan dan kritik yang berkaitan dengannya. Bahasan berikutnya adalah bagaimana melakukan inkorporasi perspektif Islam ke dalam kurikulum pendidikan Kehumasan, dengan menggunakan studi kasus. Bagian terakhir tulisan ini adalah kesimpulan, yang mencatat beberapa tantangan yang akan dihadapi dalam mengembangkan pendidikan Kehumasan yang menggunakan perspektif Islam.
