Abstract

In Japanese language, there are various greeting expressions according to the situation or season. Japanese people greet each other in many different ways depending on the relationship you have with the person you are greeting. Japanese can be roughly separated into three levels of politeness; casual, polite, and honorific/humble. Social status of speaker and listener should be considered. Japanese expressions are sometimes have difficulty to find a equivalent into Indonesian language. Therefore, to avoid language of mistakes , it is necessary to know how to use the Japanese expression correctly especially to Japanese learners. This research is the analysis of how to say greeting, thank you, apology expressions in Japanese and how the meaning of an expression of Japanese Language in the novel Norwey no Mori by Haruki Murakami. The method that used in this research is descriptive method. In analyzed form and the meaning of Japanese expressions, writer used Pateda theory (2001) and based on the concept of Edizal (2001), which analyzed how to equivalent the meaning of Japanese expression into Indonesian Language. The research result in novel Norwey no Mori by Haruki Murakami shows the usage of greeting or daily Japanese expressions are Chotto, Anata, Watashi, Iie (iya/uun), Wakaru dan wakaranai, Taihen, Anou, Sukoshi, Sayounara, Moshimoshi, Okagede, Kekkou. And the expressions for saying thank you and apology are Daijoubu, Arigatou, Gomennasai, Doumo. The data are then analyzed how to equivalent the meaning of Japanese expressions into Indonesian language based on formal, informal situation and Japanese cultural. Abstract

This research is applying Politeness Theory that proposed by Brown and Levinson (1987) as the main theory and supported by the concepts about politeness in Japanese that proposed by Mizutani and Mizutani (1987). The aim of this research is to identify the utterance that count as face-threatening acts, identify politeness strategy that used in that utterance and factors influencing the choice of strategies. The result of the analysis, there are 8 kinds of utterance threaten positive face and 7 kinds of utterance threaten negative face that found in this anime. Politeness strategies used are bald on record strategy, off record strategy, positive politeness strategy and negative politeness strategy. Those politeness strategies that used are influenced by some factors there are familiarity, age, social relationship, social status, group membership and situation.

Abstract

The tittle of this thesis is “Study of Semiotics On Got?chi Forumuk?do Postcard Design in Toyama Prefecture”. The purpose of this research is to reveal signifier and signified on Got?chi Forumuk?do postcard design in Toyama Prefecture from verbal and visual structure signs. The analysis of this research uses Semiotics Theory according to Sudjiman and Zoest (1996) used for reveal signifier and signified and verbal and visual structure. The data source using 9 (nine) Got?chi Forumuk?do postcards in Toyama Prefecture released from 2009 to 2017/2018. Data collection uses library study method and then observation and note taking technique. The analysis uses descriptive analytic method and informal method according to (Sudaryanto 1993:135). The result shows that the interaction of verbal and visual signs creates verbal and visual messages that are interrelated. Through on the signs of verbal and visual is able to visualized signifier and signified from each postcard designs so that the messages can be well conveyed.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini berjudul “Prosedur Penerjemahan dan Pergeseran Makna Lirik Lagu Soundtrack Anime Bahasa Jepang ke Dalam Bahasa Indonesia” penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana prosedur serta pergeseran makna yang terjadi pada penerjemahan lirik lagu tersebut. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori prosedur penerjemahan yang dikemukakan oleh Vinay and Darbelnet (1995) dan teori pergeseran makna dari Bell (1993). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dari tujuh prosedur penerjemahan berdasarkan teori yang dikemukakan Vinay dan Darbelnet ditemukan lima prosedur yang digunakan, dan prosedur harfiah (literal translation) merupakan prosedur yang paling banyak digunakan dalam penerjemahan lirik lagu soundtrack bahasa Jepang ke bahasa Indonesia. Prosedur penerjemahan yang diterapkan lebih berorientasi pada BSu. Sementara, pergeseran makna yang paling banyak terjadi pada penerjemahan tersebut ditemukan pada terjemahan lirik lagu Doraemon.

Abstract

This research is titled "Demonophobia in Kusano Tetsuya's character in Bonus Track’novel by Koshigaya Osamu". This study aims to determine the symptoms and ways to overcome demonophobia in Kusano Tetsuya’s character. The method used descriptive analysis method. The theory used literary psychology that proposed by Ratna (2006) and the theory of specific phobia proposed by Hogan (2004). The analysis of fear or anxiety that occurs to Kusano can cause adverse effects on daily life. Based on the results of the analysis it can be concluded that someone who experiences demonophobia has problems that can be cured with symptoms that suffer. Changing mindset is an influential step for Kusano Tetsuya in an effort to overcome the demonophobia because at that step makes Kusano slowly to recover from his phobia.

Abstract

The research with the title “The usage of setsuzokujoshi Noni, Nagara-mo and Nimokakawarazu in Novel of Tobu ga Gotoku written by Ryoutarou Shiba” aim to research the structure and meanings of setsuzokujoshi noni, nagara-mo and nimokakawarazu on the sentences inside the Novel of Tobu ga Gotoku written by Ryoutarou Shiba. This research using agih method. The analysis structure of setsuzokujoshi noni, nagara-mo and nimokakawarazu using syntax theory according to Verhaar (2012) with the reference opinion of Makino and Tsutsui (1989&1995), while the meaning analysis using the contextual meaning theory from Pateda (2001). The result of this research representing that from the structure aspect of setsuzokujoshi noni, nagara-mo and nimokakawarazu to be combined with the verb, adjectives and noun. The form of verb ~te-iru when combined with nagara-mo, will become ~teinagara-mo form. Beside that noni dan nimokakawarazu also can be put in front of the sentences. From the aspect of contextual meaning, setsuzokujoshi noni context has meaning of person, situation context, and mood. Setsuzokujoshi nagara-mo context has meaning of person, mood context, place context, and situation context. While setsuzokujoshi nimokakawarazu has meaning that related with purpose context, situation context, and mood context.

Abstract

This research is entitled “Procedure of Translation of Ecology Cultural Terms in Laskar Pelangi Novel With Japanese Translated Niji No Shounen Tachi”. This research discuss about procedure of translation and ecology cultural terms in Laskar Pelangi novel. The main theory used in the analysis  were procedure of translation Theory by Newmark (1988), and ecology cultural terms by Newmark (1988). The analysis in this paper shows that in all 54 datas, there are 5 kind of sub category of ecology cultural terms and 5 kind of procedur of translation in Laskar Pelangi novel. From all that data, Cultural Equivalent is mostly use to translating ecology cultural terms than other procedure. The ecology cultural terms are contained in sourch languange have been translated in the target languange.

Abstract

This community service was intended to introduce Japanese language and culture to children who haveprofession as labor at Pasar Badung in Bali. Although they are in school-age, because of economic and otherreasons, they have to give priority to economics activities rather than their own education. This communityservice was held by the staff and students of Japanese Department, Udayana University’s on Friday, August 01st,08th, and 15th, 2014. The location is at Sanggar Belajar Anak Pasar Badung, 4th floor Pasar badung. The methodsused in training Japanese language and culture to them were orientation, drills, and feedback. There were a lotof benefits obtained by the children from this community service activit, they can learn about basic Japaneselanguage as well as Japanese culture via animated cartoons played during lunch breaktime. To the students asthe assistant-instructors of this activity, can learn about real situation language teaching process and handlequestions and overcome difficulties in the process. To the lecturers as the advisers of this activity, they can devotetheir knowledge as an implementation of Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi.

Abstract

This study entitled Typology of Lexical Verb 'Use' In Japanese: Study of Natural Semantic Metalanguage. The research objective is to understand verb ‘use’ of the Japanese language. The specific objective is to describe forms, structures, and to avoid the meaning of swirling. Analysis using Semantic Theory of Natural Metalanguage (MSA) which is pioneered by Wierzbicka (1996). To analyze the data the author uses a descriptive method, that describe the elements used by default lexical verb ‘meaning'. Then the mapping exponent through explication by using a paraphrase. Data were analyzed semantic structure. Ways of presenting the data analysis using informal methods, namely the use of words. 14 types of the Japanese verb have the meaning of 'use, ' i.e., kaburu, maku, haku, hameru, shimeru, sauces, kiru, Kakeru, tsukeru, tsukau, mochiiru, shiyo suru, suru riyou, chakuyo suru, which is often found in the books of Japanese. This study has given a clear enough picture of the technical explication of the state of one form or lexicon to one meaning and one meaning for one form or lexicon.
