Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: Short-term memory plays a role in all children's cognitive processes both in understanding the language, working on the task and problem-solving process. The speed of cognitive processes in children depend on the degree of activation of short-term memory. With stimulation that given in the form of brain-activating movements is expected to integrate short-term memory and long-term memory to generate new knowledge or expand the existing load in long-term memory. Cognitive function and academic achievement can also be influenced by the level of physical fitness. Physical fitness is very useful to support the physical capacity of children who in the end expected to improve his performance. Objective: This research was conducted to find out how big increase of short-term memory and physical fitness at the addition of Brain Gym in SSAI program at elementary school student of Inpres Pondang. Method: This research is true experimental, using two group pre and post test control group design. This research was conducted at SD Inpres Pondang, 3 times weekly for 6 weeks, at January 22, 2018 - March 05, 2018. The sample of research is 42 people divided into two groups. The Control Group in the form of SSAI program and the Treatment Group was given the addition of Brain Gym in the SSAI program. The measuring instrument used to memory span to measure short-term memory and TKJI to measure physical fitness. Results: The results of hypothesis testing using Wilcoxon test and Mann Whitney test. Wilcoxon test results showed short-term memory improvement in the treatment group significantly (p<0.05), the control group showed significant short-term memory increase (p<0.05). The result of hypothesis test shows the value of increase of physical fitness index in the treatment group significantly (p<0.05). The increase value of physical fitness index in control group significantly (p<0.05). Mann Whitney test results showed the value of span digits in the treatment group and control group with p=0.005 (p<0.05). Physical fitness value in treatment group and control group with p value = 0.091 (p>0.05). Conclusion: Statistically there is a difference in the addition of brain gymnastics to SSAI in increasing short-term memory of elementary students. Statistically there is no difference in the addition of brain gymnastics in SSAI in improving physical fitness in elementary school students. Keywords: Short term memory, physical fitness, memory span, Indonesian physical fitness test, brain gym, healthy gymnastics Indonesian children.

Abstract

Background: Kick accuracy is a person's ability to control free movements against a target. Kick accuracy are influenced by core muscles, concentration and dynamic balance. Back strengthening exercise and Pilates exercise was given by the researcher to improve the accuracy of kicking among soccer players. Purpose: The difference effect of back strengthening exercise and Pilates exercise on kick accuracy among soccer players. Methods: This study was quasi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test group design. There were 22 subjects divided randomly into 2 groups. Group I with back strengthening exercise and group II Pilates exercise. Exercise was given 3 times a week for 5 weeks. Kick accuracy measurement tool used plywood target measurement. Result: research shows that the intervention that was given to groups I and II could improve kick accuracy in soccer players. The effect test are using paired sample t-test in group I with mean pre and post test, obtained (p=0.004) and in group II obtained (p=0.011). The different test among two groups are using independent sample t test with post treatment data in each group, obtained (p=0.100). Conclusion: There is no difference in the effect between giving back strengthening exercise and Pilates exercise to the accuracy of kick on the soccer player.

Abstract

Background: Myofascial syndrome is a chronic condition arising from trigger point activation causing a decrease in neck muscle strength in tailor clothes. Purpose: To determine the different combinations of myofascial release technique with ultrasound and ischemic compression technique combination with ultrasound in increasing neck muscle strength due to myofascial syndrome on the tailor of clothes in saraswati convection guwang gianyar village. Method: This study used an experimental study with pre-test and post-test group design. The sample consisted of 22 people consisting of 11 people in each group. The first group was given myofascial release technique intervention with ultrasound and the second group was given ischemic compression technique with ultrasound. Intervention is given 3x a week for 2 weeks. Sampling technique with random sampling. The strength of neck muscle was measured by sphygmomanometer. Results: Paired Sample T-test test in Group 1 was obtained p= 0,000 (p <0,05) and in Group 2 the result was p = 0,002 (p <0,05) Meaningful differences before and after intervention in each group. The mean difference test of mean values with independent sample t-test after treatment between groups was 0.195mmHg (p> 0.05) which means that there is no difference between the two groups in increasing the strength of neck muscles. Conclusion: There is no difference between a combination of myofascial release technique with ultrasound and a combination of ischemic compression technique with ultrasound in increasing neck muscle strength due to myofascial syndrome in dressmaker. Suggestion: As reference in handling case of myofascial syndrome especially upper trapezius muscle
