Abstract

Online learning is very effective and efficient during the current Covid-19 pandemic. Through this online learning, students can still carry out lectures without having to face to face with the lecturer. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of online learning on the interest and learning outcomes of Basic Chemistry students of the Civil Engineering Study Program. The research samples were first semester students of the Civil Engineering Study Program, Graha Nusantara University, Padangsidimpuan, Academic Year 2020/2021 who took online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic, with a total of 40 respondents. The research method used to determine the effect of online learning on students' interest and learning outcomes was carried out using qualitative and quantitative research methods. Based on the Pearson Product Moment Correlation test, rcount> rtable or 4.401 > 0.2573 which means that H1 is accepted and Ho is rejected. So that online learning has an effect on interest in learning Basic Chemistry for first semester students of Civil Engineering Study Program, Graha Nusantara University, Padangsidimpuan, Academic Year 2020/2021. Based on the t-test conducted, it is found that tcount ≥ ttable is 6.22 ≥ 2.023, which means Ho is rejected or H1 is accepted. Thus, online learning also affects the learning outcomes of Basic Chemistry of first semester students of Civil Engineering Study Program, Graha Nusantara University, Padangsidimpuan, Academic Year 2020/2021.

Abstract

Kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa dalam Kimia Teknik dapat ditingkatkan melalui penerapan model pembelajaran problem based learning (PBL). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa Prodi Teknik Sipil Fakultas Teknik UGN Padangsidimpuan dalam Kimia Teknik melalui model pembelajaran problem based learning (PBL) dan mengetahui efektivitas model pembelajaran problem based learning (PBL) dalam  Kimia Teknik terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa Prodi Teknik Sipil Fakultas Teknik UGN Padangsidimpuan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan 2 siklus. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Prodi Teknik Sipil Fakultas Teknik UGN Padangsidimpuan Tahun Akademik 2020/2021 dengan jumlah 30 orang yang terdiri dari 10 orang perempuan dan 20 orang laki-laki. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan berupa tes tertulis dengan KKM yang telah ditetapkan Universitas yaitu 75. Prosedur penelitian ini menggunakan analisis data kuantitatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ditunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran problem based learning (PBL) meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa Prodi Teknik Sipil Fakultas Teknik UGN Padangsidimpuan dalam Kimia Teknik sebesar 33,33% dan memiliki efektivitas sebesar 10,58%. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa Prodi Teknik Sipil Fakultas Teknik UGN Padangsidimpuan dalam Kimia Teknik meningkat karena penerapan model pembelajaran problem based learning (PBL). Dengan demikian, model pembelajaran problem based learning (PBL) sangat cocok dan efektif diterapkan dalam pembelajaran Kimia Teknik.

Abstract

Basic Engineering Mechanics is a science that plays an important role in civil engineering disciplines, especially in the construction sector. In studying Basic Engineering Mechanics, a Project Based Learning model is needed that can help students to more easily apply it. This study aims to determine the increasing in learning outcomes of Basic Engineering Mechanics of Civil Engineering Study Program students through the application of Project Based Learning model. The type of research to be conducted is experimental research using the pretest-posttest control group design. The research subjects were students of the Civil Engineering Study Program, Graha Nusantara University, Padangsidimpuan for first semester in Academic Year 2021-2022, totaling 60 people. Research instrument in the form of pre-test and post-test. The data analysis technique used in this research is comparative descriptive analysis, while the increasing in student learning outcomes through the application of Project Based Learning (PjBL) model is calculated using g-factor (normalized gain score). Based on the research results obtained, it can be concluded that the Project Based Learning model can increase the learning outcomes of Basic Engineering Mechanics for Civil Engineering Study Program students by 37.74%. While the conventional learning model can only increase the learning outcomes of Basic Engineering Mechanics for Civil Engineering Study Program students by 31.41%. So that the Project Based Learning model is more effectively used in Basic Engineering Mechanics courses than conventional learning model.

Abstract

The world of construction is progressing very rapidly. The higher the need for infrastructure development, the energy absorption to support these activities will certainly be very large. To minimize this need, it is necessary to have innovations that can reduce the production of materials, such as cement. Therefore, it is necessary to have an alternative to take advantage of wasted waste such as egg shells to be used as a partial or complete substitute for cement, especially as a mixed material in the manufacture of concrete. This study aims to maximize the use of chicken egg shell waste for concrete mixtures. Egg shell powder to be added as a partial substitute for cement is made with a composition variation of 0%; 2.5%; 5%; 7.5%; 10%. Where each variation is made into 3 samples, so that the total sample is 15 samples and the compressive strength of the concrete is tested after 28 days. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that the mixture of concrete with egg shells at a percentage of 2.5% is called the optimum state. The optimum condition is a condition where the compressive strength of the resulting concrete is greater and maximum when used to make environmentally friendly concrete.

Abstract

The problem that occurs is there are many planning consultants in North Padang Lawas Regency who are not proficient and skilled in applying SAP2000. Therefore, it is necessary to hold a workshop on the implementation of SAP2000 for planning consultants in North Padang Lawas Regency as a solution to the problem that occurs. The aim of this workshop is to improve participants' skills in analysis with SAP2000. The stages of implementing this workshop are: conducting a survey on SAP2000 mastery; make proposals based on survey results; planning the preparation of materials, modules, pre-test, post-test, attendance and schedule of community service activities; dividing the team's tasks in which the chairperson serves as a teacher for one hour then the members continue, while students prepare attendance, pre-test and post-test; make conclusions based on the results of the pre-test and post-test that have been carried out. The methods applied in this activity include: presentations, tutorials and practices, modules and questions and answers. Based on the results of community service activities that have been carried out, it can be concluded that the SAP2000 application workshop for planning consultants in North Padang Lawas Regency was able to improve the skills of participants (planning consultants) in analyzing with SAP2000 with an increase in the level of achievement of high mastery of the material from 53.33 % to 80%. This happened because it was supported by the high interest and enthusiasm of the participants to take part in the workshop and training before the workshop was held through the distributed modules.

Abstract

Utilizing crushed aqua powder as a concrete mix is ​​an example of Green Construction Management because it is environmentally friendly. This article was written as a result of community service activities to provide knowledge and information about the use of crushed aqua powder in construction projects carried out with Green Construction Management in Bunga Bondar Village, Sipirok District, South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra. Methods of delivery of activities consisted of lectures/presentations, discussions and questions and answers. After the socialization event, the success of the socialization was monitored for 2 months at the service location. The results of this activity show that more than 50% of the participants do not know/heard about the use of crushed aqua powder as a concrete mix. However, more than 50% of the participants are interested. The enthusiasm of the participants to take part in this socialization activity is very high, because almost 100% of the partners find this socialization very useful, including knowing how to sort aqua bottles around their area. The success of this activity is reflected in the very high enthusiasm of the participants. The results of monitoring for two months indicate that a follow-up plan is needed to correct deficiencies in the outreach activities.

Abstract

Utilization of sugarbean waste as a partial substitutional material for cement in paving block is ​​an effort to decrease of cement use in construction materials for increasing paving block quality. This article was written as a result of socialization to provide Padang Matinggi Lestari Village, Padangsidempuan City construction workers’s knowledge and their skills about the utilize of sugarbean waste as a partial substitutional material so that paving block was be better and had high quality . Methods of delivery of activities consisted of lectures/presentations, discussions and questions and answers. After the socialization finish, the results of the activity were monitored for 1 month to know that activity’s output happened or not. The results of this activity show that more than 60% of the participants do not know/heard about the utilize of sugarbean waste as a partial substitutional material for cement in paving block. However, more than 60% of the participants are interested. The enthusiasm of the participants to take part in this socialization activity is very high, because 90% of the partners find this socialization very useful, including knowing how to collect and sort sugarbean waste around their area. The success of this activity is reflected in the very high enthusiasm and presention of the participants. The results of monitoring for 1 month indicate that a follow-up plan is needed to correct deficiencies in the outreach activities.

Abstract

Sosialisasi diperuntukkan bagi mahasiswa dan dosen di lingkungan Fakultas Teknik Universitas Graha Nusantara. Tujuannya adalah mengajak mahasiswa dan dosen di lingkungan Fakultas Teknik Universitas Graha Nusantara untuk menerapkan protokol kesehatan melalui pencegahan covid-19 dengan gerakan 5 M. Melalui sosialisasi ini, diharapkan mahasiswa dan dosen dapat menerapkan gerakan 5 M baik pada saat pembelajaran tatap muka maupun di lingkungan masyarakat. Sosialisasi dilakukan dengan seminar yang diselenggarakan pada hari Sabtu tanggal 14 November 2020 di Ruang Kuliah Teknik Sipil (RKTS) D Fakultas Teknik Universitas Graha Nusantara Padangsidimpuan. Seminar dilaksanakan dengan tatap muka dan setiap peserta wajib menggunakan masker dan mencuci tangan menggunakan hand sanitizer. Setelah pelaksanaan sosialisasi, mahasiswa dan dosen mulai memahami arti penting pencegahan covid-19 dan mulai menerapkan protokol kesehatan melalui pencegahan covid-19 dengan gerakan 5 M, khususnya pada saat pembelajaran tatap muka. Penelitian diharapkan dapat berimplikasi pada 1) pembiasaan menerapkan protokol kesehatan melalui pencegahan covid-19. 2) memberikan semangat kepada mahasiswa dan dosen agar tetap belajar dan berkarya selama pandemi covid-19. 3) mendukung kebijakan publikasi di kampus dengan kolaborasi bersama antara dosen dan mahasiswa.
