Abstract

The problem of malnutrition remains overlooked in Indonesia, especially on children, caused by various factors. Indonesia is the 17th country with 3 nutrition problems, including stunting (short body), wasting (skinny body), and overweight (obesity). This research aims to analyze factors affecting nutrition status on children in the area of West Java Province, including the mother’s and the child’s socio-demographics factor, and the child’s health status. The research method was descriptive quantitative with cross-sectional approach. The number of samples is 810. The research was conducted in 6 districts that support Family Planning (KB), including Bandung District, Bandung City, West Bandung District, Subang District, Sumedang District, and Garut District. The quantitative analysis consisted of univariates using percentage and frequency distribution, as well as bivariate analysis using chi square test. The result of the research shows that nearly all toddlers have good nutrition status as much as 87.9%, and toddlers with malnutrition as much as 10.6%. The analysis factor shows that there is a relationship between the mother’s age (p = 0.048; OR = 1.583), family income (p = 0.010; OR = 1.803), delivery complications (p = 0.008; OR = 2.091), provision of exclusive breastfed milk (ASI) at the age of 0 - 6 years old (p = 0.000; OR = 2.321), provision of exclusive breast milk and complementary feeding given to babies before 6 months old (MPASI) at the age of 6 months to 2 years old (p = 0.002; OR = 2.037), and the child’s history of hospitalization (p = 0.008; OR = 2.055), while other factors are considered irrelevant. This research suggests that healthcare staff collaborate in providing knowledge to mothers on the provision of exclusive breast milk and complementary feeding as well as the prevention of illness on their children.

Abstract

A competitive job market is a challenge that needs to be faced by every university graduate. It is expected that every graduate has capability to keep face with expansion in job sectors. To be able to adapt to the job situation, a specific intelligence to face in facing every challenge and obstacle namely adversity quotient, is required. This study aimed to identify the correlation between adversity quotient (AQ) and career adaptability of internship nursing students. This study was descriptive correlational. Samples were recruited using a total sampling tecnique (n=142). Data were collected using a questionnaire consisting of a demographic survey, an Adversity Response Profile (ARP) Quick TakeTM and a Career Adapt-Abilities Scale (CAAS). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Rank Spearman correlation test. The result of this study indicated that no students were in quitter category, only 0,7% of them were in quitter to camper transition, 76,8% of them were campers, 21,8% of the students were in camper to climber transition, 0,7% of all respondents were climbers. No students had a very low career adaptability, only 1,4% of them had a low career adaptability, while the proportions of students with a high and very high career adaptability were 75,4% and 23,2 % respectively. No significant correlation was found between AQ and career adaptability (p value >0,05; Spearman’s ρ +0,122). It can be concluded that most of internship nursing students at Faculty of Nursing Universitas Padjadjaran were campers and had a high level of career adaptability. There was also no significant correlation between AQ and career adaptability. Further research needs to explore about contributing factors related to career adaptability in internship nursing students. Keywords: Adversity quotient, career adaptability, internship nursing student.

Abstract

Physical changes during puberty are very rapid and are not balanced with psychological changes, which can cause adolescents to pay more attention to their body shape and appearance. If adolescents are unable to accept their body image, it can affect their daily behaviors such as self-confidence, eating patterns, and dietary behavior. This study aims to determine the description of the body image of adolescent girls during puberty at SDN Cingcin 01. This research design is quantitative descriptive. This study used a total sampling technique with a sample size of 55 female students at SDN Cingcin 01 who had reached puberty. Total sampling was used in this study because the population is less than 100 people. Data was collected using the Multidimensional Body Self Relations Questionnaire-Appearance Scale (MBSRQ-AS) to measure the body image with validity test results ranging from 0.438-0.795, and the reliability test results 0.922. Univariate analysis was carried out using descriptive statistics. The results showed that 28 respondents (50.9%) were in the negative body image category. Based on the dimensions, respondents had negative perceptions of appearance evaluation (56.4%) and overweight preoccupation (52.7%), positive perceptions of appearance orientation (56.4%), body area satisfaction (58.2%), and self-classified weight (78.2%). In conclusion, half of the respondents had a negative body image. It is recommended for schools to do health education to improve the body image of their female students.
