Abstract

Warna gigi mempengaruhi penampilan seseorang, sehingga banyak orang menginginkan giginya berwarna putihdan cerah. Gigi putih dan cerah dapat dilakukan perawatan dengan bleaching (pemutihan gigi). Gel karbamidperoksida 10% adalah salah satu bahan pemutih gigi yang biasa digunakan dalam praktik kedokteran gigi. Bahanpemutih gigi relatif mahal dan mempunyai efek samping seperti sensitivitas gigi dan iritasi gingiva. Banyak penelitimencoba mencari bahan alternatif yang lebih aman dan lebih murah untuk memutihkan gigi. Madu mengandunghidrogen peroksida dan asam malat yang bisa memutihkan gigi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaanefektifitas antara madu bunga kelengkeng (Euphoria Longana Sp) dengan gel karbamid peroksida 10% sebagaibahan pemutih gigi. Jenis penelitian ini adalah laboratoris dengan subyek penelitian 30 sampel gigi pasca ekstraksidilakukan discolorasi, kemudian dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok, 15 gigi direndam dalam madu dan 15 gigi direndamdalam gel karbamid peroksida 10%. Pengukuran warna gigi menggunakan shade guide dan spektrofotometer. Datayang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan Independent Sample t-Test. Hasil penelitian ini didapatkan nilai p =0,001 (p <0,05) yang berarti terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelompok madu bunga kelengkeng (EuphoriaLongana Sp) dengan gel karbamid peroksida 10%. Hal ini menunjukkan madu bunga kelengkeng (Euphoria LonganaSp) dan gel karbamid peroksida 10% dapat memutihkan gigi, walaupun hasil penelitian ini gel karbamid peroksida10% lebih efektif untuk memutihkan gigi.

Abstract

Tetracycline becomes one of intrinsic factors which causes tooth staining. Discoloration due to tetracycline is divided into 4 degrees of severity. Bleaching can be treated for the 1st or the 2nd degree. The 3rd and the 4th degree can not be treated but must be veneer. The 3rd and 4th degree are indicated by dark tooth color, and a ribbon-like picture showed in labial teeth. A 30 years female patient came to the Dental Clinic, dental examination found teeth color dark grayish yellow (C4 shade guide color) and in the central of labial there was a picture like white banded. Diagnosed of the case was the 3rd degree of discoloration. On the first visit, dental impression was performed for making bleaching tray. On the second visit, there was polished with pumice powder. Carbamide peroxide 10% as bleaching paste was applied to the labial bleaching tray, and inserted for 30 minutes. Once removed then patient gargled with warm water. Patients got instructions to do it at home twice a day for 2 weeks the result showed third. On the third visite the colour of the teeth look brighter, and there were no gingiva irritation and sensitive teeth. Patient was very satisfied. In conclusion, bleaching of the third degree tetracycline discoloration can make the teeth look brighte.

Abstract

Rudimenter merupakan kelainan bentuk gigi yaitu gigi kecil meruncing dan berukuran lebih kecil dari normal, biasanya terjadi pada gigi anterior. Hal ini sangat mengganggu penampilan pasien. Perawatan biasanya dilakukan indirect restoration dengan pemasangan mahkota dan multi visite sehingga membutuhkan waktu perawatan yang lama. Laporan kasus ini bertujuan untuk melaporkan penatalaksanaan gigi rudimenter dengan one visite esthethic direct restoration. Wanita usia 24 tahun memiliki keluhan penampilan terganggu karena gigi 12 dan 22 mengalami rudimenter. Ingin segera dirawat dengan satu kali kunjungan. Penatalaksanaan dilakukan dengan menganalis  lebar mesiodistal gigi 12 dan 22 serta lebar mesiodistal ruang yang tersedia. Pencocokan warna dengan shade guide. Preparasi menggunakan bur torpedo untuk retensi dan resistensi. Langkah selanjutnya dilakukan pemasangan Polytetraflouroethylene (PTFE), pengaplikasian bonding, penyinaran Light Emitting Diode (LED) selama 20 detik. Pengaplikasian resin komposit warna A2 dan penyinaran LED selama 40 detik. Hasil terlihat anomali rudimenter gigi 12 dan 22 terkoreksi, tampak bentuk anatomi gigi 22 dan 21 kembali normal. Hasil observasi menunjukkan tidak ada keluhan sakit, tampak sewarna gigi, kerapatan tepi baik, countour, embrassure dan kontak area sesuai anatomi gigi, serta gingiva tampak normal dan gigi berfungsi dengan baik. Kesimpulan pada laporan kasus ini adalah gigi rudimenter berhasil dirawat dengan one visite esthethic direct restoration. Pasien sangat puas dengan hasil perawatan.

Abstract

The aim of this case report is to inform the treatment of Periapical Curretage On The Right Maxilla Incisivus Lateralis Necrotizing Pulp with Periapical Lesion after endodontic treatment. A 22 year-old female patient was referred to Conservative Dentistry Clinic Gadjah Mada University, who suffered sometimes from painful symptom in her right anterior maxilla after filling . Objective examination 12 showedpalatinal cavity with deep dentin and after filling on mesial surface, no response to sondasion and vitality test (CE), percussion was positif, palpation, and mobility were negative. Radiograph examination indicated the presence of radiolucency on periapical which no limited area, diameter 4 mm and 7 mm. The diagnosis was pulp necrosis with periapical lesion. Prognosis was good. There was no extraction. The treatment included root canal treatment, periapical curettage, and restoration using porcelain fused to metal crown with pasif dowel. The result was good, the tooth was painless and the radiolucency developed more opaque.Laporan kasus ini bertujuan untuk merawat lesi periapikal pada gigi insisivus lateralis pada maksila kanan dengan nekrosis pulpa disertai lesi periapikal nekrosis pulpa setelah dilakukan perawatan saluran akar. Pasien wanita 22 tahun datang ke klinik konservasi gigi UGM dengan keluhan gigi depan atas kanan bekas tambalan tersebut kadang-kadang terasa sakit. Pada pemeriksaan objektif 12 terdapat kavitas di palatinal kedalaman dentin dan terdapat bekas tumpatan pada bagian mesial. Sondasi negative dan CE negatif, perkusi positif, palpasi dan mobilitas negatif. Pada radiograf terlihat area radiolusen di daerah periapikal, batas tidak tegas, lebar 4 mm dan sepanjang 7 mm. Diagnosis kasus ini nekrosis pulpa dengan lesi periapikal. Prognosis kasus ini baik. Gigi tidak dilakukan pencabutan meskipun terdapat lesi periapikal yang luas. Rencana perawatan yaitu perawatan saluran akar, kuretase apeks, dan restorasi mahkota jaket porselin inti pasak pasif. Hasil perawatan baik, tidak ada keluhan dan area radiolusenberkurang.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Email sebagai jaringan terkeras tubuh manusia tersusun dari jutaan prisma email yang berisi hidroksiapatit. Adanya produk asam mikrobial dapat menyebabkan hidroksiapatit berkurang yang ditandai dengan terbentuknya porositas pada email gigi. Porositas ini dapat diperbaiki menggunakan bahan yang mengandung kalsium dan fosfat. Salah satu bahan alam yang tinggi akan kalsium adalah cangkang telur ayam negeri, yaitu mengandung kalsium karbonat sebanyak 97%. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis porositas email gigi sebelum dan sesudah aplikasi pasta cangkang telur ayam negeri. Metode: Penelitian eksperimental laboratoris melibatkan subjek penelitian berupa 5 buah gigi premolar yang diaplikasikan asam fosfat 37% selama 60 detik dilanjutkan dengan pengamatan menggunakan scanning electron microscope (SEM) untuk menganalisisis porositas email. Selanjutnya sampel diaplikasikan pasta cangkang telur ayam selama 30 menit dalam waktu 4 minggu berturut-turut dan diamati kembali menggunakan SEM dengan perbesaran 2000x untuk memperoleh hasil perbedaan porositas sebelum dan sesudah pengaplikasian pasta cangkang telur ayam negeri. Hasil: Tedapat perbedaan porositas email sebelum dan sesudah aplikasi pasta cangkang telur ayam negeri, dengan terlihatnya perubahan permukaan email yang awalnya terlihat kasar dan porus menjadi terlihat lebih halus. Porositas terlihat menghilang dengan pola etsa tipe I (4 sampel) dan tipe II (1 sampel). Simpulan: Terdapat perbedaan porositas sebelum dan sesudah aplikasi pasta cangkang telur ayam negeri.Kata kunci: Porositas email, pasta cangkang telur ayam negeri. ABSTRACTIntroduction: Tooth enamel is the hardest tissue of the human body, composed of millions of enamel prisms that contain hydroxyapatite. The presence of microbial acid products causes reduction of hydroxyapatite, characterised by the formation of porosity in tooth enamel. The porosity can be repaired using materials containing calcium and phosphate. One of natural-ingredients with high calcium is domestic chicken eggshells, which contain 97% of calcium carbonate. The purpose of this study was to analyse the porosity of tooth enamel before and after the application of domestic chicken eggshell paste. Methods: An experimental laboratory study involving research subjects in the form of 5 premolar teeth applied with 37% phosphoric acid for 60 seconds followed by observations using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) to analyse enamel porosity. The sample was then applied with chicken egg-shell paste for 30 minutes in 4 consecutive weeks. Afterwards, being observed again using the SEM with a magnification of 2000x to obtain the results of porosity differences before and after the application of domestic chicken eggshell paste. Results: There were differences in the porosity of enamel be-fore and after the application of domestic chicken eggshell paste, with visible changes in the enamel surface which initially looked rough and porous became noticeably smoother. Porosity seemed to dis-appear with etching patterns of type I (4 samples) and type II (1 sample). Conclusion: There are differences in the enamel porosity before and after the application of domestic chicken eggshell paste.Keywords: Enamel porosity, domestic chicken eggshell paste.

Abstract

Introduction: Discoloration can be caused by intrinsic or extrinsic factors. One of the discoloration treatments is teeth whitening. Teeth whitening process usually uses chemicals such as hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide which can cause side effects, namely gingival irritation. Previous research has found that malic acid in strawberries can whiten teeth. Watermelons contain greater malic acid than strawberries. Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of 100% watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) extract on teeth whitening. Methods: The study was a laboratory experimental study with a total of 15 anterior post-extraction teeth which were discolored using black tea, divided into 3 groups. Group 1 was immersed in 100% watermelon extract, group 2 was immersed in 10% carbamide peroxide as positive control and group 3 was immersed in sterile aquades as negative control, for 56 hours, measured using a shade guide and spectrophotometer. Data were analyzed using one way Anova. Results: The 100% watermelon extract was effective for teeth whitening. There was a significant difference between 100% watermelon extract compared to negative control (p < 0.05). However, there was also a significant difference between 100% watermelon extract, and 10% carbamide peroxide gel (p = 0.003). Conclusion: The watermelon extract has the ability as teeth whitening agent. However, further study is still needed to explore this result and determine the proper concentration for teeth whitening.

Abstract

Introduction – The teeth are composed of enamel, dentine, pulp, and cementum. The enamel of the tooth contains hydroxyapatite crystals [Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2] which are small in size and allow for the transfer of ions in chromogen substances causing discoloration of the teeth. Tooth discoloration will eliminate the aesthetic value of the individual's appearance. The use of chemicals and abrasive materials contained in conventional toothpaste in whitening teeth can cause side effects in the form of irritation of the oral mucosal tissue and abrasion of the surface of the teeth, so a safe natural treatment is required. Malic acid in red watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) is a powerful oxidizer that can be used to whiten teeth. Methodology/Approach – Data source search is done using the Google Scholar, Pubmed, and Science Direct search engine with Medical Subject Headings and selected for publication in the past five years. Findings – The principle of dental whitening is oxidation reaction between whitening agent and chromogenic factor, regardless red watermelon has a malic acid as a powerful oxidizer and can be used to whiten teeth. Implication – Home and office dental whitening with carbamide or hydrogen peroxide can cause dental sensitivity. There is a new bleaching proposal without the use of chemical ingredients, thus reducing post-treatment sensitivity. Red watermelon has such a whitening toothpaste with natural ingredients.

Abstract

Background: Dental caries is caused by interactions between microorganisms, food, teeth, and time which can reduce the pH of the oral cavity to become acidic. The decrease in pH in the oral cavity can cause the demineralization process of teeth in the form of dissolved hydroxyapatite crystals which are the main constituents of tooth enamel. Hydroxyapatite which dissolves continuously can cause the formation of microporosity in tooth enamel. Domestic chicken eggshells contain high calcium carbonate. Calcium carbonate can be converted into hydroxyapatite through the precipitation method, so that hydroxyapatite produced from domestic chicken eggshells can be used as a substitute for hydroxyapatite enamel which is soluble due to the influence of acid. Objective: To determine the effect of domestic chicken eggshell paste on email. Research Methods: Types of experimental laboratory research. Five permanent premolar teeth were applied to acid etching for 60 seconds, so that enamel microporosity was formed and observation was carried out with a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Furthermore, the application of chicken eggshell paste for 30 minutes for 14 days and observed by SEM. Results: a visible decrease in the enamel microporosity of tooth formed due to acid etching, in the form of email porosity closed after application of chicken eggshell paste for 14 days. Conclusion: domestic chicken eggshell paste can influence the surface of enamel.
