Abstract

Education through self-management and support plays an important role in providing knowledge and instilling an awareness of the importance of healthy living. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support on eating habits, body weight, nutritional status, and glycemic control. The design of this study was quasi-experimental with the experimental design of the Pre Test Post Test without a control group. The number of samples was 60 patients who were taken by purposive sampling with predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Interventions were conducted 2 times a month for 6 months. From this study, it is known that for 6 months there was an increase in the consumption of vegetables, fruit, and milk (p<0,05), a significant decrease in the consumption of tubers and starches (p <0.05), while the consumption of rice and side dishes did not experience a significant change (p> 0, 05). Besides, there was a significant decrease in glycemic control (p <0.05) but there was no significant reduction in body weight and nutritional status (p> 0.05). The application of Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support for 6 months can influence glycemic control and change eating habits.

Abstract

Abstract Overweight and obesity in school-age children have become public health problems. 75% of children who are obese at school age will be obese in adulthood. The first aim to monitor nutritional status, mentoring eating behavior, and physical activity for SDN students who have overweight and obese. The second goal is to increase the capacity of food keepers about good, healthy and safe food so that it can maintain the health of school children and control obesity. This community service was carried out at SDN Menteng Dalam 07 Pagi, targeting elementary school students in grades 4, 5, 6 who have over nutritional status and obesity and previously participated in the healthy class program held by the South Jakarta Health Office and local Puskesmas and canteen peddlers. Assistance was carried out for 1 month with monitoring of body weight, height, intake, and physical activity. After mentoring, it was found that the prevalence of nutrition decreased by more than 1.2%, decreased energy intake (8.9%), fat (2.2%), carbohydrates (8.9%), and increased physical activity by 11.1% in the category moderate. Beside that there was an increase in knowledge about healthy food and large portion of children’s meals according to their needs, and how to maintain good sanitation hygiene so as to maintain clean and safe food. The school’s commitment as a pilot school to control obesity was approved by policy makers and curriculum  reforms will be carried out, especially to review physical activity curricula in schools.  Keywords: School aged obesity, intake, physical activity, coaching

Abstract

One solution to overcome the problem of malnutrition in Indonesia is to provide nutritional interventions by adding micronutrient supplementation to food or beverages. This study aims to develop functional drinks from local food (Moringa leaves, tolo beans, and corn) as additional food ingredients for children aged 2-5 years. The first stage of the research carried out tolo bean germination, while in the second stage the study determined the formulation of a local food-based functional drink with four levels of treatment, namely 0% (T1), 5% (T2), 7.5% (T3), 10% (T4). ) Moringa leaves to total formula drinks. Organoleptic tests were carried out by 30 somewhat trained panelists from level 2 students of the DIII and DIV Nutrition study programs. Formulations that were acceptable to the panelists were the T2 formulation with a composition of 50% corn, 50% tolo beans, 5% Moringa leaves, 5% powdered milk, and 10% granulated sugar. The nutritional value of the tolo bean-based functional drink (T2) is 245,95kcal of energy, 8,57gr of protein, 5,25gr of fat, and 41,1 gr of carbohydrates, and 458,71ppm of phenol content per 250ml. With the addition of 5%, Moringa leaves it produces color, aroma, taste, consistency, and acceptance that is most liked by panelists and resembles a drink without the addition of Moringa leaves. It is necessary to carry out further studies related to microbiological tests on functional drinks made from local food so that they can meet the applicable SNI.

Abstract

The low sodium and Diet Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) are diets for reducing high blood pressure. This study aimed to analyze the effect of nutrition counseling on the DASH diet compared to low sodium diet on blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The study design was an experimental study that randomly allocated 34 respondents to DASH diet and 35 respondents to low sodium diet. The ages of respondents were 43 to 76 years and women were 74.3 percent. Nutrition counseling was conducted by researchers to respondents who visited health center or Posbindu Larangan Utara. Nutritional counseling was conducted for an average of 20 minutes using existing brochures. Low sodium diet emphasizes reducing sodium intake while DASH diet emphasis more on consuming lots of vegetables, fruit, nuts and low-fat products. Variables collected were the characteristics of respondent, disease, drugs taken and nutritional status, while blood pressure using a sphygmomanometer, food intake including sodium were measured before and 2 weeks after nutritional counseling. Results showed that there was a significant difference in diastolic blood pressure after patients were given DASH diet compared to low sodium diet (p 0.05) and there was a significant difference in delta of systolic and diastolic reduction in DASH diet compared to low sodium diet. Test also showed a significant reduction in systolic, diastolic blood pressure and sodium intake (p 0.001) in both diet groups after receiving counseling. It concluded that DASH diet can be recommended to decrease blood pressure in hypertensive patients with consider nutritional status. ABSTRAK  Diet Rendah Garam (RG) dan Diet Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) adalah diet untuk menurunkan tekanan darah tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa pengaruh konseling gizi diet DASH dibandingkan diet RG terhadap tekanan darah pasien hipertensi. Rancangan penelitian adalah eksperimen yang secara acak mengalokasi diet DASH kepada 34 orang dan diet RG kepada 35 orang responden. Usia responden antara 43 hingga 76 tahun dan sebagian besar perempuan (74,3%). Konseling gizi dilakukan oleh tim peneliti kepada pasien hipertensi yang memeriksakan diri ke puskesmas atau posbindu Larangan Utara. Konseling gizi dilakukan rata-rata 20 menit menggunakan brosur yang sudah ada. Diet RG menekankan pengurangan asupan natrium sedangkan diet DASH lebih menekankan ke banyak konsumsi sayur, buah, kacang-kacangan dan produk rendah lemak. Variabel yang dikumpulkan adalah karakteristik responden, penyakit dan obat yang diminum serta status gizi sedangkan tekanan darah menggunakan sfigmomanometer, asupan makanan, zat gizi termasuk natrium diukur sebelum dan 2 minggu setelah konseling gizi dilakukan. Hasil menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang bermakna pada tekanan darah diastolik setelah pasien diberi diet DASH dibandingkan dengan pasien yang diberi diet RG (p0,05) dan terdapat perbedaan delta penurunan sistolik dan diastolik bermakna pada diet DASH dibanding diet RG. Analisa juga menunjukkan adanya penurunan tekanan darah sistolik, diastolik dan asupan natrium  yang bermakna (p0.001) pada kedua kelompok diet setelah mendapat konseling diet DASH dan diet RG. Disimpulkan diet DASH dapat direkomendasikan untuk membantu menurunkan tekanan darah pada pasien hipertensi dengan memperhatikan status gizi. Abstract

Medical nutritional therapy is an important part of the comprehensive management of type II DM. Good glycemic control can control blood lipid profile levels so that it can reduce the risk of complications of heart disease in people with type II diabetes. This study aims to determine whether education with assistance for 6 months affects macronutrient intake, HbA1c, and lipid profiles in patients with Type II diabetes. This study used a Quasi-Experimental design with experimental design The Pretest-Postest design without a control group. The sample used the purposive sampling method according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria with 30 samples. The research data were obtained from secondary data from the Endocrine Metabolic Poly and Nutritional Poly RSCM Research in 2017. The results showed that there was a significant effect (p 0.05) of education with assistance for 6 months on the value of HbA1c, while with the intake of macronutrients (carbohydrates and fats), LDL and triglycerides had no significant effect (p 0.05). HBA1c levels in this study were significantly related to blood triglyceride levels. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out more research using nutrition education methods with assistance to working groups of young adults and the need to pay attention to compliance with medication consumption or the use of insulin therapy. ABSTRAKTerapi gizi medik merupakan bagian penting dalam pengelolaan DM tipe II secara komprehensif. Kontrol glikemik yang baik dapat mengendalikan kadar profil lipid darah sehingga dapat menurunkan risiko komplikasi penyakit jantung pada penderita DM tipe II. Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui apakah edukasi dengan pendampingan selama 6 bulan mempengaruhi asupan zat gizi makro,  nilai HbA1c dan profil lipid pada pasien DM Tipe II. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain Quasi Eksperimental dengan desain eksperiment The Pretest- Postest design tanpa grup kontrol. Sampel menggunakan metode Purposive sampling sesuai dengan kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi dengan jumlah 30 orang. Data penelitian didapatkan dari data sekunder penelitian Poli Metabolik Endokrin dan Poli Gizi RSCM tahun 2017. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada pengaruh yang bermakna (p0.05) edukasi dengan pendampingan selama 6 bulan terhadap nilai HbA1c, sedangkan dengan asupan zat gizi makro (karbohidrat dan lemak, LDL dan  trigliserida tidak ada pengaruh yang signifikan (p0.05). Kadar HBA1c dalam penelitian ini berhubungan nyata dengan kadar tigliserida darah. Kesimpulan edukasi gizi dengan pendampingan selama 6 bulan  kurang efektif mengendalikan perilaku makan dan kontrol lipid darah. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan penelitian lagi menggunakan metode edukasi gizi dengan pendampingan pada kelompok usia dewasa muda yang bekerja serta perlu diperhatian kepatuhan konsumsi obat-obatan atau penggunaan terapi insulin. Kata kunci: asupan zat gizi makro, HbA1c, profil lipid, DM tipe II, pendampingan

Abstract

Latar Belakang : Pemberian ASI eksklusif masih ditetapkan sebagai salah satu indikator meningkatnya kesehatan ibu dan anak, pembuatan minuman campuran sebagai peningkat produksi ASI dilakukan dengan cara menggunakan bahan pangan lokal. Tujuan : untuk mengetahui formulasi minuman dengan penambahan daun katuk dan daun pepaya terhadap mutu organoleptik, menganalisis kandungan zat gizi dan skrining fitokimia pada formulasi terpilih Metode : Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 3 pengulangan. Penelitian ini melibatkan 30 panelis konsumen yang merupakan dosen atau pegawai di Poltekkes Kemenkes Jakarta II dan sudah pernah menyusui terhadap karakteristik warna, aroma, tekstur, rasa, dan tingkat kesukaan. Hasil : Hasil analisis uji statistik non parametrik Friedman dengan tingkat kemaknaan sebesar 95% menunjukkan adanya pengaruh penambahan daun katuk dan daun pepaya terhadap rasa dan tingkat kesukaan minuman campuran. Sedangkan untuk kriteria warna, aroma, dan konsistensi tidak memiliki pengaruh terhadap minuman campuran. Hasil uji mutu kesukaan yang paling disukai adalah minuman daun katuk 100%. Kesimpulan : Ada pengaruh penambahan daun katuk terhadap rasa dan tingkat kesukaan minuman campuran, formula yang terpilih adalah F1 yaitu dengan minuman daun katuk 100%. Kandungan zat gizi minuman campuran terpilih per 100 ml adalah energi 57 kkal, protein 0,87g, Karbohidrat 13,5g, kadar air 85,5 % dan kadar abu 0,29 mg serta mengandung polipenol sebesar 574 mg/kg.

Abstract

. Duri Selatan Village is one of the villages that has relative low health data compared to other villages in Tambora sub-district. The largest disease data in this region are ARI (34,6%), Hypertension (26,5%), Gastritis, Diabetes Militus, Myalgia, Dermatitis and Diarrhea. While, 6.047 children under five (18,8%) suffered from malnutrition and diarrhea and 16.8% experienced stunting.  The aim of training is to create a realization of healthy RW in an attempt to increase Nutrition Conscious Family through interprofessional collaboration in Duri Selatan Village, Tambora Sub-District, West Jakarta. 44,0% Nutrition Conscious Family training participants were aged 39-40 years, primary and secondary education levels were respectively 50,0% and 97,0% as housewives. Behavioral component of Nutrition Conscious Family training participants was 34,0% not used to conduct weighing weight regularly, not exclusively breastfeeding by 25,9%, consuming non-diverse foods by 4,0%, not using iodized salt by 6,0%, when pregnant did not take blood-added tablets (TTD) by 16,0%, Women of childbearing age did not take blood-added tablets (TTD) by 40,0%, postpartum mothers did not consume high-doses of Vitamin A capsules by 50,0% and children under five were not given high doses of Vitamin A capsules by 66,0%. There is an increase 6,3 points of Nutrition Conscious Family knowledge after the training was conducted. Nutrition Conscious Family behavior is successively 75,0% Nutrition Conscious Family behavior is less 75,0%, by 16,0% Nutrition Conscious Family behaviour is between 75,0-99,0%, and by 9,0% Nutrition Conscious Family behavior is full 100,0%.

Abstract

Nutrition is one of the factors that play a role in the rate of growth and development of infants as a superior generation in the future. Family mentoring activities are a form of community empowerment by studying existing problems and efforts to overcome them so that families can be free from nutritional problems. This mentoring program aims to help families improve knowledge, feeding practices, and nutritional status before and after family mentoring for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and children under two years old. This activity was carried out using lecture and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) methods, then continued with assistance in feeding practices. Eight respondents comprised three pregnant women, three breastfeeding mothers, and two children under two years old. The implementation began with strengthening cadres regarding child and maternal feeding practices and how to conduct monitoring and evaluation. The mentoring was carried out for two months with weekly monitoring and evaluation. Based on the mentoring results, there was an increase in knowledge among mothers of toddlers, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers. In addition, feeding practices also improved, and the weight of children, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers also increased. It can be concluded that mentoring focused on feeding practices can improve the nutritional conditions of children and pregnant/breastfeeding mothers who are malnourished.

Abstract

The percentage of the elderly population in RW 01, Cipadu Village, has increased, indicating that in 2023, this area has entered the era of an aging population, where the percentage of the population aged 60 and above is almost reaching 10% or more. The purpose of this community service is to raise awareness among the community about a healthy lifestyle to prevent non-communicable diseases, to practice the preparation of healthy drinks, and early detection of health status through anthropometry and stick test methods. The methods used in this community service include counseling with the theme "Optimizing the Health and Nutrition of the Elderly," practical measurement of nutritional status, screening for Non-Communicable Diseases using the stick test method, followed by guidance and monitoring of older people. There has been a 21.1% increase in knowledge about balanced nutrition for older people and the preparation of healthy drinks. Screening for nutritional status shows that 37.3% are obese. Health checks indicate that out of 51 people, 78.4% have high blood pressure, 66,7% have high cholesterol levels, 43,1% have high uric acid levels, and 5.8% have diabetes. Assistance for one month on adopting a healthy lifestyle, including getting used to new healthy drinks, has reduced weight and blood pressure, but blood sugar and cholesterol have not consistently improved. Practicing a healthy lifestyle with assistance has not optimally achieved a healthy status. Therefore, periodic education on elderly nutrition and early detection is necessary to maintain and monitor healthy lifestyles.
