Abstract

The accelaration of the Islamic power expansion in the Abbasid dynasty era is a description of the highest civilization of the Muslims who comprehensively embodied the teachings of Islam in total (ka>ffah) and universal way. Historical facts reveal that the Abbasid dynasty, with its great imperium, has given to the contemporary world of generation an unparalleled contribution, not only in terms of state management method, the setting system of society, and sciences in various lines of life, but also his contribution to the progress in the field of social order that include educational institutions, agriculture, trade and industry, politics, and military fields. This article is trying to unravel aspects of Arab-Islamic social order which is the other side of social history of the Middle East. Some of the things discussed is how the actual relationship between central and local interconnected at this time and how well the condition of social institutions and order built in the everyday reality of people living in the Islamic empire, including social institutions in education, agriculture, commerce and industry, politics, and the military.

Abstract

The   history   of  Islamization   in  the  archipelago,   especially   that happened since the 16th century has encouraged  a writing tradition of religious manuscripts in huge numbers. The manuscripts can definitely be regarded as primary sources for reconstruction a social- intellectual  history of Indonesian  Islam in the past. One of the most important topics discussed in such sources is that relates to the history of blaming and marginalization  of religious doctrine, especially that of Unity of Being (wahdat al-wujūd), or popularly known in Java as Manunggaling  Kawula Gusti. This article will examine some Islamic works covering  the discourse  of controversy  between  the orthodoxy and heterodoxy that emerged since the mid of 16th and 19th centuries in the Archipelago. The first work that will be consulted is a Sufi treatise entitled at-Tuhfah al-Mursalah ila an-Nabi (the Gift addressed to the spirit  of the Prophet)  written  by an Indian  scholar,  Fadl Alla>>>h al- Hindi al-Burhanpuri.  Furthermore,  this article will demonstrate  the emergence  of ‘derivative’ local works  of at-Tuhfah,  written  both in Arabic  and local languages.  The works contain  both opposing  and supporting thoughts of the theosophical doctrine discussed in the at- Tuhfah.

Abstract

Abstract: This article discusses about a search of the resources of Islamic Civilization as perceived by Acehnese Islamic scholars and education practitioners in the context of shaping a campus of civilization. This study is a qualitative research applying phenomenology approach. Most data were acquired from informants who are directly related to the theme in question. From the results of the field data, it was found that the main sources of a solid civilization, according to scholars and figures of Aceh education, were the Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet, the plurality of Islamic societies, and the results of external Islamic civilization. The three main sources of Islamic civilization became the initial basis for the development of a civilized campus in its true meaning.Abstrak: Tulisan ini mendiskusikan tentang pencarian sumber-sumber peradaban Islam menurut para ulama dan tokoh pendidikan Aceh dalam membentuk kampus peradaban. Seluruh kajian dalam penelitian ini secara eklektik tergolong ke dalam penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologi. Data dalam tulisan ini dikumpulkan melalui wawancara terhadap para informan yang berkaitan langsung dengan tema dimaksud. Dari hasil analisis data ditemukan bahwa sumber-sumber utama tegaknya peradaban yang kokoh menurut ulama dan tokoh pendidikan Aceh adalah al-Qur’an dan Sunnah Rasulullah, pluralitas masyarakat Islam, dan hasil peradaban eksternal Islam. Ketiga sumber utama peradaban Islam tersebut menjadi basis awal bagi perkembangan kampus yang berperadaban dalam makna yang sesungguhnya.Keywords: Islamic civilization sources, ulama, campus of civilization

Abstract

Abstrak: Islam adalah dasar bagi ideologi pesantren. Penanaman nilai-nilai Islam bagi santri merupakan hal penting yang akan menjadi modal bagi santri setelah berhadapan dengan realitas masyarakat. Tulisan ini mendiskusikan ideologi pesantren dengan menggunakan pendekatan Strukturalisme dengan tujuan untuk membahas strategi pelaksanaan ideologi pendidikan kepada santri sehingga nilai-nilai filosofi diterapkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Penulis menemukan bahwa strategi penyebaran ideologi pendidikan Islam pesantren adalah melalui kepiawaian seorang kiai dan kemapanan ilmu yang dimilikinya sebagai figur dalam masyarakat. Jaringan yang dibangun antara alumni dan masyarakat membuat nilai-nilai ideologi menjadi lebih mudah dilaksanakan. Di samping peran kiai sebagai pemimpin sangat dominan membuat proses transformasi ideologi melekat dalam seluruh aktivitas kehidupan para santri.Abstract: The Ideology of Contemporary Pesantren Education: A Structuralism Approach. Islam is the ideological foundation of Pesantren. The cultivation of Islamic values in students is an important aspect that should become a force in facing the social reality. This article discusses the ideology of traditional Islamic boarding School or Pesantren. In doing so, this work will be approached by structuralism. The objective of this article is to discuss the strategy of education ideology implementation to all santri so that such values of the Pesantren ideology can be deeply rooted in their daily life. The author finds that dissemination strategy of Islamic education ideology is via the kiai’s expertise and his sound knowledge as a central figure for his community. In addition, the network  that constructed between alumnus and society make that ideology values become easier to implement. What’s more, the dominant role enjoyed by the Kiai lead to transformation process very attached to the whole social activities of the santris.Kata Kunci: ideologi pendidikan, pesantren, Strukturalisme

Abstract

This article discussed the influence of the Fatimid Dynasty authority on the development of Islamic education in Egypt. The objective of this article was only to discuss the penetration of the Fatimid authority in developing Islamic education during this empire in Egypt led in which started since al-Muiz Lidinillah until the last Fatimid Caliph in Egypt. It was qualitative research applying a historical approach. The author found that socially, Egyptian society consisted of a group of Sunni and Shi'a, Africans who became the Fatimid army, the Turks who had settled in Egypt, the Ahl Dhimmah composed of Jewish and Christian, and Sudanese people who lived in Egypt. While the government system of the Fatimid Dynasty was a theocracy with the source of law based on the principle of al-Quran and Hadith related by Reviews their priests. Meanwhile, the influence of authority of this empire wasshown on the effort of Caliphs in building some Islamic educational institutions, Reviews such as the palace, mosque, house of wisdom (Dar al-Hikmah), libraries, and universities. In addition, the Caliph did not hesitate to issue a financial state in large numbers for the development of knowledge by Bringing learning resources from abroad and also sponsored the translation of foreign literature into Arabic.

Abstract

Abstract: This research is a study of the history of an educational figure about the implication of Islamic education related to the thoughts of Abu Teupin Raya, one of prominent educational figure from Aceh. Historical and sociological approach of knowledge were used. Meanwhile, the primary sources were the textual works of Abu Teupin Raya. Another major source was informants, those were the children of figure who were still alive and his students who had learned directly from him. Methods of data collection were done through the study of any literatures and in-depth interviews. All data collected was then selected, classified, verified systematically to the problem and the scope of the study. Furthermore, the data was analyzed by using content analysis and historical continuity method. This study found; First, the process of transformation of Islamic education in Aceh was closely linked with the historical, philosophical, and sociological foundation. Second, the idea of Islamic education which were transformed in the form of Islamic boarding institutions in Aceh had positive implications not only to the paradigm changes in the system of Islamic education but also to the management of educational institutions, financial administration system, even the curriculum and teaching methods.Keywords: Abu Teupin Raya, transforming, Islamic education, Aceh

Abstract

Dayah is an educational institution that is taught in several fields of Islamic religious knowledge, such as monotheism, sufism, fiqh, interpretation, hadith, nahwu, sharaf, balaghah, and others to respond to the religious problems of society. So, the author examines how the role of dayah education responds to the religious problems of society. In this study the authors used a descriptive qualitative research type. The data collection technique is done by interview, observation, and documentation. As for the sources of data in this study are the leadership of the dayah, dayah teachers or administrators, and alumni of the dayah. The results showed that Dayah Babussalam Al-Aziziah Jeunieb has played a large role in the Jeunieb community and in general the Acehnese people in solving community religious problems, both from the fields of tauhid, tasawuf, and fiqh. Among the role of the dayah in society is the existence of majelis taklim, both the taklim majelis inside the dayah and outside the dayah, even the taklim majelis have arrived in Malaysia. And there are SD IT Islamic School, Assalam Al-Aziziyah Jeunieb Middle School, and Radio Yadara.
