Abstract

The lack of knowledge of the present generation in understanding the cultural heritage of the ancestors as well as the socio-cultural changes is due to the advancement of tourism. This becomes a phenomenon that could result in the loss of local architectural knowledge, and the loss of cultural values as it is especially the case in the traditional house of Sade village. In an effort to explore the condition, this study on typology of traditional house, especially traditional house of Bale Tani in Sade village, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara was conducted. In addition to socio-cultural factors, there are other factors that also affect the variety types of its forms such as climate, technology, land selection, availability of materials and construction method. The research used qualitative method with naturalistic approach supported by literature and comparative study. The result of the research indicates that there has been a transformation process in the form of traditional house of Bale Tani but it is not dominant (it does not affect the visual form as a whole), it has slow progress (it happens  within the long time span) and it happens on some parts/elements of Bale Tani only. Factors that influence the change are endogenous (understanding the cultural values by the Sade society) and exogenous factors that is the influence of social culture (tourism). Keywords: Typology, traditional house, Bale Tani

Abstract

Pandemic Covid-19 has reshaped the way we work and how we define the workplace which before the pandemic had been strongly associated with the office. During the pandemic, almost all companies implemented ‘work from home (WFH)’ which ultimately force each company to redefine the importance of ‘office.’ The shift from physical space to virtual space makes work flexibility even greater. In addition, paperless work allows tasks to be done anywhere. The implication of this transformation is that the office most likely will adapt to rapidly evolving new functions. The office function, which before pandemic Covid-19 was a place for collaboration among clients, employees, and vendors, can now be facilitated with digital platforms. This study analyzes the office future and how office design adapts to changing needs of the post-pandemic Covid-19 workplace. The research is conducted using an exploratory qualitative method where interviews were conducted with professionals from architectural and interior design bureaus practicing across DKI Jakarta. This study finds that it is that in the future, an ‘office’ will be seen more as a place to build corporate culture, to conduct training, as a social place for employees, and a place to meet clients and attract potential talents. It also discusses the possibility to implement the concept of a ‘hybrid office’ as a solution in the future.

Abstract

The existence of light is one of the requirements for the continuity of human productivity, where human activity requires light to see. Visual comfort of workers in the industry affects their productivity levels, especially in human-based industries where humans need maximum light intensity to do work according to the level of complexity. This paper examines the lighting condition in the fashion workshop room at the Jakarta Creative Hub, to find out whether the lighting in the area is following national lighting standards for industrial areas or not. The study was carried out by a direct measurement method with a lux meter to determine the level of light intensity and simulation with software Dialux to find new lighting design alternatives. The result gathered from this study is the type and placement of light points in the Jakarta Creative Hub fashion workshop area that meets Indonesian national standards for lighting in industrial areas. Keywords: lighting, visual comfort, industry, workshop area
