Abstract

Programme of study Diploma in Information Technology (DDT) provides education and training in the field of computing with specific emphasis on the areas of Information Technology. In order to ensure technology development in line with the needs of industry, Department of Polytechnic Education (JPP) have checked the curriculum Diploma of Information Technology (Digital Technology). Curriculum Diploma of Information Technology (Digital Technology) has set a 40% as a pass score for Discrete Mathematics course (DBM2033) in the assessment of coursework and final examination. However, students who take courses in Discrete Mathematics (DBM2033) is weak in terms of calculation and this resulted in their results less impressive in this course. This continuity, a Bengkel Gempur “A” for the Diploma of Information Technology (Digital Technology) was implemented. This research in the form of surveys and applying data obtained from the questionnaire. The samples consist of 54 semester two students who take courses in Discrete Mathematics (DBM2033) for session June 2017. Pilot study of reliability value α = 0.930. The findings of this study show the level of students ' perception of Bengkel Gempur “A” are at a high level and students have a positive perception after following the workshop. However, the findings show there is no difference in perception among the students based on the demographics of the respondents, i.e. gender, race, age, education status and cumulative grade points average (CGPA). Students ' perception on the Bengkel Gempur “A” has changed since joining the program. This has proved through score mean before the programme was 2.28 and mean score after participating in the programme was 2.96 which increased by 0.68. This study demonstrated that the implementation of Bengkel Gempur “A” has managed to increase the level of student achievement onfinal examination sessions June 2017.

Abstract

Construction of East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2) has a large impact in being able to link the states on the East Coast in a time shorter than existing roads. This gives a more comfortable alternative ride to the local community and beyond. However, there are still complaints from users regarding the facilities and services provided in LPT2. Thus, a study carried out to determine the level of satisfaction of polytechnic communities against the use of LPT2. A total of 222 respondent from four polytechnic involved in this study. Analysis of the findings made by using descriptive statistic and T-test through the software Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 23. Results of this analysis showed a mean value for items 'security level' in LPT2 is 2.29, i.e. at low mean score. While the 'facilities provided' is 2.50, where the stage score mean intermediate. Analysis of T-test also found, there is no significant relationship between the levels of satisfaction of users of different gender. Pearson correlation analysis found that the relationship between the usage frequency of LPT2 and the user satisfaction level was weak, but significant. It is hoped that the findings could help provides an overview of the level of satisfaction of the security aspects of polytechnic communities and facilities in LPT2.  This can help the parties responsible for providing the best service to oversee and improve LPT2 in all aspects in order to provide optimum satisfaction to the user.

Abstract

Nowadays, surfing the internet across virtual borders became a must to almost every layer of society.  The existence of various social sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and WhatsApp as medium to communicate became widely used because the internet is accessible to anyone regardless of place and time. Excessive use of WhatsApp is addictive and it gave different impact in terms of advantages and disadvantages to the users. Highlights from this, this paper work was done to assess the influence of the excessive use of WhatsApp on the attitude of students of PSMZA. A total of 250 students were randomly selected which consists of male and female students.  The methodology used is descriptive method and quantitative approach that is using the questionnaire instrument consisting of three parts, namely part A respondent's demographic information, part B of the information level of addiction to the use of WhatsApp and part C information relating to the attitude of students either positive or negative towards their environment. The data collected is processed through the software IBM SPSS Statistics version 23.  From the study it was found that the influence of the use of excessive WhatsApp still had positive impact on the attitudes of students of PSMZA.  However, female students were more addicted to WhatsApp compared to male students.
