Abstract

This study aims to (1) determine the implementation of scientific learning at SMA Negeri 25 Pulau Makian, Kec. Makian Barat, and (2) Improving students' scientific thinking skills through scientific learning. This study is a classroom action research (Class Room Action Research). The design of study used Kemmis and McTaggart model which included four steps (steps): (1) planning; (2) actions; (3) observation; and (4) reflection. Data collection techniques were carried out by (1) Test, test used to determine students' scientific thinking skills, (2) observation is conducted to observe the learning process using a scientific approach model. The observation  focus on the implementation of learning by teachers starting from initial activities, core activities, and final activities, as well as student activities in learning, and (3) documentation used to take pictures/photos of the implementation of learning by teachers and student activities in learning. Students' scientific thinking ability was analyzed qualitatively with a scale of five categories, the implementation of learning by teachers was analyzed qualitatively with a scale of five categories, and students' learning activities were analyzed qualitatively with a scale of four categories. The results showed that (1) the average percentage of students' scientific thinking skills in cycle one obtained a value of 24% with very poor criteria and increased in cycle two by 75% with good criteria, and (2) the average percentage of learning implementation by the teacher in the first cycle obtained a score of 87% with very good criteria and increased again in the second cycle by 100% with the same criteria. Meanwhile, for student activity, the average percentage of cycle one is 71% with high criteria and has increased in cycle two by 82% with very high criteria.

Abstract

Produksi sampah di Indonesia berisiko meningkat setiap tahunnya, untuk itu diperlukan kerjasama semua pihak untuk mengatasinya, termasuk sektor pendidikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat pemahaman guru terhadap isu global pengelolaan sampah dan penerapannya di sekolah. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif kualitatif dan dilaksanakan pada bulan November 2021 dengan sampel sekitar 10 pendidik, 3 tenaga kependidikan dan 9 siswa di SD Negeri 58 Kota Ternate. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik triangulasi yaitu observasi, wawancara, dan angket. Data penelitian dianalisis dengan menggunakan model analisis Miles & Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman guru tentang dasar-dasar pengetahuan tentang pengelolaan sampah masih rendah, yaitu sekitar 50%. Dalam penerapan pemahaman dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, guru belum melakukan penanganan sampah sesuai jenis dan karakter sampah, hasil yang sama ditemukan pada penerapan pemahaman di sekolah yaitu belum maksimal. Tidak semua guru terlibat pada penerapan pemahaman penanganan sampah karena tidak memiliki desain yang sesuai dengan materi yang diajarkan. Penyebabnya, guru kesulitan membagi waktu karena beban kerja yang berat dan keterlibatan sekolah yang belum maksimal dalam penanganan sampah. Sekolah perlu mengambil peran yang maksimal untuk mendukung guru ketika menyalurkan pengetahuan kepada siswa

Abstract

The publication of scientific papers is an essential element in promoting educators. The problem is that the average teacher at SD Negeri 45 has not written and published independently. Some teachers are not proficient in operating computers, especially Microsoft Office Word. Even though writing scientific papers requires these skills to facilitate the work of teachers during writing. In this service, several points are trained, namely optimizing the use of Microsoft Office Word, the rules of writing scientific reports and publications, and techniques for implementing CAR. This activity was carried out on September 18, 2021. The partners of this service were all teachers at the 45 Ternate State Elementary School. The method used is demonstration, lecture, and question and answer. The results of community service activities show that teachers at SD Negeri 45 Ternate City can write CAR scientific reports even though only three people have the best writing skills. At the evaluation stage, several corrections were found, such as spelling errors, data analysis techniques, and the use of references. The obstacle in this research is the limitations of laptops and computers. It takes a long time because there are three available laptop facilities during practice, so the teacher is divided into 3 study groups. However, overall, this service can provide understanding and motivation to teachers at SD Negeri 45 Ternate City to write scientific papers

Abstract

The celery plant is used as a food additive and in traditional medicine. Its high benefits allow for high market demand as well. Until now, in North Maluku, there has been no extensive cultivation of celery. On average, it only uses hydroponics and polybags even though the area of agricultural land is enormous, especially in Sumbersari village. The Low Capital and High Benefit technique use a basic farming system approach: planting directly into the ground. This PKM aims to provide a new understanding to the community about celery cultivation through direct planting techniques with a Low Capital and High Benefit approach so that the socio-economic partners better. This service location was in Sumbersari Village, Central Halmahera Regency, on August 18, 2022. The methods used were lectures, discussions, and demonstrations. The results of the service show that this service was successful. During socialization, the whole community was enthusiastic and could fully follow the material, which can be seen from the implementation when the success of celery cultivation reached 90%.

Abstract

The issue of increasing waste quantities, which are directly proportional to the human population in a region, has become a significant concern within the context of environmental sustainability. Urban areas, being centers of education and economy, often face challenges in managing the daily volume of waste generated. The accumulation of such waste has adverse impacts on the environmental quality, including water, soil, and air. One proposed solution to address this problem is to enhance the understanding of waste management from an early age to adulthood. This engagement focuses on providing elementary school students with an understanding of smart waste management through interactive and play-based approaches. The methods employed in this engagement include lectures, demonstrations, and explorations. The engagement involves 30 students from elementary schools, selected using a purposive sampling technique. The findings demonstrate that the interactive and play-based approach effectively enhances students' understanding and environmental awareness. Furthermore, the students are able to implement initial steps in waste management, such as segregating organic and inorganic waste. The successful implementation of this engagement has yielded positive outcomes in increasing students' awareness and skills in waste management. The interactive and play-based approach has proven to be effective in instilling a meaningful understanding of responsible and sustainable waste management. It is hoped that activities of this nature can be continually enhanced and expanded in an effort to create a community that is more environmentally conscious.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to express the learning model of The Power Of Two in grade V students of SD Negeri 56 Ternate City, after using the learning model The Power Of Two in Theme 6 Subtheme 2 Heat Transfer Around Us. This research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subjects of the study were class V students with a total of 26 students consisting of 9 men and 17 women. Data collection techniques in this study are observation, documentation and tests. Data analysis techniques in this study were carried out in three stages, namely to determine individual student learning outcomes, to determine the completeness of student learning classically and to calculate the percentage of student and teacher activity results.The results of this study were 2 cycles, where cycle I obtained learning completeness with a percentage of 42.30% as many as 11 students, student activity 65.27% and teacher activity 68.75%. Then in the second cycle, student learning completeness was obtained with 96.15% as many as 25 students, student activity 90.27% and teacher activity 93.75%. Based on the results of the percentage above, it can be concluded that Learning Using The Power Of Two Model In Learning Theme 6 Subtheme 2 Heat Transfer Around Us can improve the learning outcomes of grade V students of SD Negeri 56 Ternate City.

Abstract

The implementation of online learning was implemented suddenly due to the Covid-19 pandemic that hit in 2019, online learning policies are a temporary solution to stop the spread of Covid-19. However, this policy has had a big impact on the world of education, various problems arise from the factor of implementing the policy. This study aims to examine the obstacles to the implementation of online learning experienced by FKIP students, Unkhair. The method used in this study is a descriptive quantitative approach. Data collection through surveys. The instrument used is an electronic questionnaire via google form. The questionnaire used is a closed questionnaire and an open questionnaire. The correspondents of this study were FKIP Unkhair students as many as 150 correspondents who were representatives of 7 study programs. Based on the results of the research analysis, it can be concluded that there are 4 points of obstacles faced by FKIP students during online learning, namely limited internet quota, inadequate internet network, low understanding of IT and limited infrastructure. However, these obstacles can be anticipated through serious online learning designs by considering the convenience of learning, the readiness factors of lecturers and students and the availability of supporting facilities. In conclusion, there are 4 obstacles to implementing online learning policies. To overcome them, the involvement of all parties is required to design high-quality online learning.

Abstract

Child-friendly learning is designed to create a conducive learning environment, enabling children to learn effectively in a safe, non-threatening, and encouraging atmosphere. This project aims to optimize smartphone use among students at Public Elementary School 244 HALSEL, Gintang, utilizing concepts that are engaging and easy for students to grasp. This ensures more effective and impactful use of smartphones in achieving learning outcomes. The activities, conducted in September 2023, involved 30 students from grades 3 to 6. The methods employed were lectures and demonstrations to educate students on wise and child-friendly smartphone usage. The study reveals significant changes in smartphone usage post-socialization. The average daily use decreased from 4 hours to 3 hours, with the percentage for entertainment dropping from 75% to 50%, while usage for learning purposes increased from 25% to 50%. The average scores in English vocabulary tests rose from 60 to 75, indicating the positive effects of directed smartphone use. Students' awareness of responsible usage increased from 40% to 80%, and the average number of learning apps used per student rose from 1 to 3. Interactions between the team and students showed that most students owned social media accounts and used smartphones without parental supervision. These activities enhanced students' motivation and interest in learning, strengthened their understanding of smartphone usage in education, and cultivated awareness of the importance of wise usage. This project underscores the necessity of education and collaboration among schools, teachers, and parents in managing smartphone use by elementary school children, ensuring the maximum benefits of this technology in learning.
