Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis mekanisme seleksi calon kepala sekolah/ madrasah dalam program  ProDEP  (Professional  Development  for  Education  Personnel)  di LPMP Provinsi Sumatera Selatan. Penelitian dilaksanakan di LPMP Provinsi Sumatera Selatan dengan narasumber sebanyak 10 orang. Pengambilan data menggunakan panduan wawancara dan data sekunder laporan Program ProDEP LPMP Provinsi Sumatera Selatan Tahun 2015. Analisis data menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Dari analisis tersebut diperoleh hasil sebagai berikut; 1) materi seleksi calon kepala sekolah belum mengacu kepada standar kompetensi kepala sekolah/madrasah sebagaimana dimaksud dalam Peraturan Menteri Pendidikan Nasional Republik Indonesia Nomor 13 Tahun 2007 tentang Standar Kepala Sekolah/Madrasah, dan 2) materi seleksi akademik yang diterapkan dalam seleksi ini tidak menggambarkan substansi akademik yang seharusnya. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian di atas maka direkomendasikan sebagai berikut: 1) untuk memenuhi persyaratan kompetensi yang ingin diraih/diketahui oleh masing-masing calon kepala sekolah, maka materi seleksi diklat calon kepala sekolah ini sebaiknya berisi materi-materi yang mengungkap potensi akademik, kepribadian, manajerial, kewirausahaan, supervisi, dan sosial peserta, 2) Materi seleksi akademik sebaiknya berisi materi yang benar-benar mengukur potensi/kemampuan akademik peserta seperti Tes Potensi Akademik (TPA) yang lazim digunakan untuk mengetahui dan mengukur sejauhmana kemampuan akademik seseorang.Kata-kata kunci: seleksi, pendidikan dan latihan, ProDEPAbstract: This study aimed to evaluate the selection mechanism of prospective principals / madrasah in the ProDEP program (Professional Development for Education Personnel) in LPMP South Sumatra Province. The research was conducted in LPMP of South Sumatera Province with 10 informants. Data collection using interview guides and secondary data report ProDEP LPMP Program of South Sumatera Province Year 2015. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis method. The results from the analysis were: 1) the selection   of candidates for headmaster is not referring to the principal / madrasah competency standard as referred to in the Regulation of the Minister of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia Number 13 Year 2007 regarding Principal Standards/Madrasah, and 2) the academic selection material applied in this selection does not describe the substance academic should be. Based on the results of the above research, it is recommended as follows: 1) to meet the competency requirements to be achieved by each candidate headmaster, the selection material of the headmaster training should contain materials that reveal the academic, personality, managerial potential, entrepreneurship, supervision, and social participants, and 2) Academic selection materials should contain material that really measures the potential/academic ability of participants such as the Academic Potential Test (TPA) commonly used to know and measure the extent of one’s academic ability.Keywords: Selection, education and training, ProDEP

Abstract

Abstract: The objectives of this study were to find out whether or not the use of English Comic Book series could improve reading comprehension of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 32 Palembang. In this study, one group pre-test and post-test control group design was applied. The population was 170 seventh grade students in academic year 2013/2014. Purposive sampling method was applied and class VII.1 (N=34) and class VII.2 (N=34) were involved as the sample. The data were analyzed by using t-test. The result of the data analysis showed that the mean difference of the pre test and post test of the experimental group was significant (p < 0.05). The result of the independent sample t-test also showed that the mean differences of the post test of experimental group and control group were significant (p < 0.05). These results confirmed that the use of English Comic book series could be used as a reading material to help the seven graders of SMP Negeri 32 improve their reading comprehension. In addition, the result of this study showed that using a variety of reading materials in teaching reading comprehension is important. Key words: reading comprehension, English Comic book series
