Abstract

Hypertension is circulatory system disorders, it cause the blood pressure normal exceed. That’s why this disease also known as high blood pressure. In blood pressure measurements, usually there are 2 kind of numbers which show higher and lower. The higher number means the heart contraction/systolic, and the lower number means the heart relaxation/diastolic. This study was to find the sodium intake and fat intake , also to find the relation of sodium intake and fat intake towards hypertensions on outpatient at Manado, Minanga Public Health Center. This is observational study with cross sectional design towards 70 sample. Sample inclusion criteria in this study is all the patients that comes to treatment at public healt center as long as study period which is 2 weeks (29 may-9 June) at Minanga public health center. Blood pressure data taken by nurse, measured with sphygmomanometer, sodium and fat intake data taken by researcher, getting with interview semi-FFQ questionnaire. The data in this study tested with Chi-Square test. The result of this study swoed that from 70 sample, there are 40 patients (57.1%) with hypertension has high sodium intake, 4 patients (5.7%) with hypertension has low sodium intake, 39 patients (55.7%) with hypertension has high fat intake, 5 patients (7.1%) with hypertension has low fat intake. The result of this study also showed that there are relation between sodium intake and hypertension, proven by Chi-Square test p value = 0.003, there are also relation between fat intake and hypertension, proven by Chy-Square test p value = 0,019.
